Name your favourite gay movie. What did you like best about it?
Krista replied to Yuki Winchestor's topic in The Lounge
Ciao - Slow moving, not entirely a love story. It's actually quite sad in some parts, and a bit quirky in others. I thought they took an idea that was done before, and not a whole lot was spectacular about the film overall, but heh, for some reason it has always pulled me in. Something about the best friend that brought them together on different terms. Thinking that they were actually good for one another as well, but never taking that next step for what ever reason, probably because the relationship never could work, because of the friend, it would be a difficult "threesome," to maneuver around. Soldier's Girl - I think is a movie everyone should see really. I think the acting and the story is extremely nice and well done. It's actually one of my favorites. Based on actual events. Mambo Italiano - Very corny, but hilarious in some parts. Not typical. Latter Days - Convincing, didn't like many of the side actors though. But honestly, I like a lot of them. I just don't like the endings to a lot of them. Usually the ones that end nicely are borderline too corny and too unrealistic for the rest of the movie. And then there's the ones that the 'gays' always die in the end.. of some sort of disease, violence, addiction, what ever. I don't know why the genre has to go to extremes... to be fair though all genres do. -
Hmm.. I'm very conflicted about the outcome of the Pirates and the Cardinals... the way the Pirates fans are acting, it makes me sick.. lol. But as a Reds fan, I just cannot like the Cardinals. Very sad that the Reds his a really low spot at the end of the season. The Manager was axed too and they're thinking about trading one of their best players as well. I hope they don't completely implode on themselves, they were just starting to get good again. As long as the National League wins it, I guess I don't care who.

Depends on the person(s) and the mood I'm in. If I answer the door to, "Don't you know the End is near?", I'll usually say, "I wasn't aware, no," and close the door. I think I sufficiently answered their question. If I'm in a bad mood or in a state of dress that I don't want visitors, I just don't open the door, or I do and tell them I'm busy.. or if they're pushy, I put a bit more force in closing the door than necessary. None of them are ever really pushy around here though, I dare say if one was, they might lose a few toes or fingers if they try to block the door from closing. If it is those people handing out those small green/red bibles I just smile and tell them I already have one. Because I do already have one... and the print is larger and easier to read than in those tiny little things. If they are just wanting to be informational about their church/movement/organization, I listen. I mean they are at least being nice about it. I never let them in the house though, once they get into the house they're difficult to get back out. Where I live now, I have child proofed the front gate, and you'd be surprised how many adults have trouble with it.

Just because they didn't make YOU throw your panties onto the stage, doesn't mean they aren't a good band Steven. Although, I've never been a fan of them either - dated rock and roll/pop has never been my thing.

Well said! I have NEVER been able to watch Professional Football and Basketball, actually I dislike them both a lot. But Major League Baseball, I will watch, and I do enjoy. But heh, even though the Reds have imploded and can't get a damn ball out of the infield, unless it is an outfield pop-up, I might stop watching that too. Hmph. Might save Aaron and I a lot of money in the swear jar.

I saw it, I thought Phillips had time to do a proper tag.. but then again, Villar didn't have to raise his head to kiss the butt either..

I struck out the ones I didn't like. Some of the ones left, are informative to new authors so I think they should stay - they serve a purpose. Maybe edit the first post with everyone's suggestions. They have been lost in all the side-discussions, cut down on repetition.

Chatty Kathy-s.. I'll have to agree that the Kitty reference is a bit dated... and the reference with Dom has sadly lost a lot of relevance as well. (Don't lynch me please! ) And other Reputation ranks with member references shouldn't be added. Like Cia said, people come and go and references lose relevance pretty easily. Cheat So Good - referenced the ability people had to like their own posts, which also has been fixed.

Ass in the Air Slut, has a nice ring to it.. it should be a higher reputation, of course. Then there's: I Survived Krista Long Enough Bad Ass - since there's a "A little more bad ass' so it only makes sense there is a "bad ass" one coming along sometime or another.
-
When GA allowed negative hits to the reputation if you went to 'other' way you eventually landed on, 'meow' as well.

Heh. Well, it ended in a cliff hanger. So of course I want a part 2. I'd like to know a bit of back story with the main character apart from how they supposedly met. His honest and true reaction would have been nice as well. So get on that.

The majority of the student athletes in that same spotlight seem to be managing. Making any excuse that it is just because he's young, when so many others are out there doing what they are supposed to do, makes him the ass that he is. And Yes, YB, I expect more from the SEC. We win championships here, we don't like to cater to dumb asses that seem surprised they can win a football game. All these other teams can contain these large egos, Texas A&M needs to start taking notes or go back to playing football in the Big 12.

Oh goodness... that's embarrassing.. lol.

Lol. Seems to be the general consensus. Thanks for reading!

Lol. I'll assure you, it is GA worthy and approved.. for that sort of content. But I'm glad there was a bit of mystery in the first chapter. Not everyone is cut of the same mold.. especially in RL. Thanks for reading and liking the first chapter!

Lol.. yeah, I don't feel sorry for the Yankees, I feel sorry for the pitching that entire series... Although, I do like to see them struggle.

Yeah let's allow him to make a joke out of his school, winning or not. Let's allow him to muddy the waters for his future when his throwing arm isn't as good as what is already established in the pro-league and he doesn't have a leg to stand on anymore. Let's allow him to show people that it is OK to skip out on training camps to PARTY. Let's allow him to mock, taunt, and be an absolute asshole out on the football field WHEN HE SHOULD be getting his teammates focused on the next play, instead he's in the faces of the opponent or being hounded by referees for his behavior. JUST because he is 'young.' He is there to play football and to take classes - not there to be the biggest asshat on campus just because he can throw a football. Because the player behind him is quietly just as good. Give him a break, I think not. He needs to grow up and if he can't, the coaches need to get hold of him before he really costs his school. What if Rice had been a better team? What if he does that against Alabama or LSU? He's shown them EXACTLY what they need to do to rattle him, if he had kept a cooler head they wouldn't have that. They're not going to give him many chances, not with his reputation already established as a hot-headed dumbass. When a player makes the entire game, team, season about HIM then you lose. There was a reason he was snubbed in the pre-season honors. If that wasn't a clear enough message for him, I don't know what it would take.

I should probably gloat whilst I can, the REDS nearly swept the Cardinals and have won 2 in a row against the Dodgers! Yayyy! Lol.

MTV has always created casts to include as many races and orientations they possibly could - whether or not the story fits. There is no 'real' reason for Danny to be gay, but at least they went there... and then gave him larger parts (but Scott being Gay would never have been made) So Danny's character becomes a cop-out... Then again, like someone else said, the main character and his mother aren't Caucasian/white and there are never any mention of that either. I believe both are on purpose - although I don't want to credit the writers for that show too much - with Danny's sexuality being a non-issue, and race being a non-issue, and whether you are male, female, or what have you - being a non-issue. Because they wanted to portray the mindset that not a whole lot of people have, but should, about different races, orientations, genders.. etc. And have it just be Humans against Monsters. But the setting seems to be a smaller town where everyone knows everyone - so all that openness and acceptance probably wouldn't happen in true life. And of course Comedies cling to stereotypes - that's a given. I doubt many would survive without them, there just isn't a lot of people that could aspire to a different level of clever when what's getting paid for and moved forward are the stereotypes. An upstanding police officer that just saved a woman's life.. coming home to kiss his boyfriend/husband would shock the hell out of the viewers in a Pilot/Series Opening show, but I doubt any station could get away with not telling people the main character is gay to allow for the shock value... I believe more people would tune in to watch the second episode, the third, fourth, if they weren't told beforehand that the main character was gay... because they would either be expecting stereotypes or they have already envisioned them and don't think their "crime dramas" should have them. Although, the back of that coin, would the target audience (GLBT adults and Straight women), want it? Or are we clinging to stereotypes as well. Would many of us find something like that boring too and we're just not saying it? We have shown in the past that we will watch shows that have them... and networks like living in the past more so than the future as long as what they are building is successful. So it would probably fail before given an honest and true chance to succeed. Bringing something to the table that NO ONE ELSE will only comes along every so often. FOX surprised the hell out of me with Glee, I didn't think they would do it... but that show isn't taken seriously, and it really wasn't put out there without an audience already waiting for it. And a lot of shows only make it when they believe an audience is already out there to carry it.

Lol. I was amused by the Gif. I'm not amused by Johnny Manziel. He has an ego that could eclipse the sun... He's not handling this spot light well. A spot light that he wouldn't even have if Tex. A&M was still in the Big 12 anyway. (GOO SEC, although they're losing to the ACC at the moment, boo). He quit a camp. I do think he got paid for autographs, but I also don't think that should be the NCAA's business. Although, they do need to protect players instead of hounding them... if they took a better stance on things, I would appreciate their efforts. I don't like how he responds to taunting. I don't like how the Coach is handling him. I don't like the Media feeding his ego, he was suspended for half a game by the NCAA he starts playing the second half, tries to do too much, does well, but taunts, smacks his jaws, gets an unsportsmanlike misconduct penalty, and gets benched again.... He is a leader, and if leaders are out of control, you might lose the entire team. One other player was ejected that same game, it could already be happening. Coach might be in trouble, can't have too many losing seasons in the SEC before you find yourself so far buried you may never see the light of day again. I just cannot stand him. He should act like a top tier SEC QB and ACT like he can win ballgames instead of creating a circus around himself.
