I didn't really either of the first two books, but read them anyway. The way the second one ended, I was confused as it seemed completely disjointed. I agree with you that there isn't any real and true character development. They are what they were from Book 1 Page 1. Bombshell after bombshell didn't change them in some fundamental way that lasted.... Not a Roth fan.

We all like to think that every human being is wired to want to be around other human beings. Have a face to face interaction with the world around them. Not everyone is like that though. So I don't mind if people get involved in some sort of hobby that provides an outlet for social interaction, like video games. Back in the day where Books were most if not all people had, people would say, "she always has her nose in a book," and stuff like that. It's really no difference, we've just become more advanced. People that are 'shutting' themselves in and away from the outside world with a book Vs. Those that do the same thing with a video game? I don't put a lot of weight against one or the other. I like my Video games with a lot of reading and of course I read as well.

I knew as soon as I said anything, I would be screwing over the Boston Redsox. The Cardinals should pay me for helping them out a bit.

Maybe it is because I am a parent, but I thought the Truck, the orange 'monster' they called it... provided one of the largest plot holes in the first book. After the 'villains' are introduced, Bella and Edward decide that it is better to run. Seven against two, but I guess since one has a higher prey drive, the odds are against them. Anyway, Bella arrives at her home in the truck, screams at her father, like she planned. She pretends to break up with Edward and convinces Charlie to let her drive back home to Phoenix. Of course he tries to stop her, make her wait until Morning, give it a few days. Like a nice father should (actually if it were my daughter, I would have put her under house arrest until she calmed her ass down) but in the end he lets her leave after his feelings gets hurt and he has a good shot to his memory. She leaves in that rusty old truck. That same rusty old truck never went to Phoenix though. Like it was supposed to. It ended up in Cullen's garage. She instead rides to Phoenix with Alice and Jasper in a black, tinted windowed sports car. She then runs from her now two protectors and is hunted down, tricked, and attacked, nearly killed. She ends up in the hospital with horrendous injuries, blamed on her clumsiness as she fell down stairs and out a hotel window. A freak accident and the only witnesses to that accident are members of the Cullen family (I believe Edward and Carlisle), the estranged ex-boyfriend that she was fleeing to Phoenix to get away from. And the truck, is in his Garage. So that would mean, and would easily become a glaring problem in Bella's and Edward's plan. Charlie should have been able to figure out, that 1. Bella left for Phoenix with some of the Cullen family, not necessarily Edward, but with Edward being there, that it was likely that he was with her at some point in the trip. 2. That they really weren't that broken up, not broken up enough for her to run off to Phoenix, banishing herself from his life. 3. That it could be possible that something else happened other than what either of them were telling the people around them. 4. All is forgiven, she wants to return to Forks, be with Edward, and live with her father, no matter what happened a mere few days ago. So, in the end, when they would have had to retrieve the truck from the Cullen's house, so that she could drive it again, as we all know she does drive it again, then he should have seen that SOMETHING was wrong. Being an investigative police chief, even of a small town, would see these things. And honestly, if one of my children was with someone else and didn't return to me whole, I'd think long and hard about letting them go back and be around those people again. But then again, maybe I'm reading way too far into it.

Aww.. Cardinals had a bit of a.. meltdown didn't they? Maybe the fact that they are in the World Series will smack them in the face before game two.... I bet Molina wanted to knock that 6'7" tall pitcher right on his ass when he called everyone off AND didn't make a move for that pop-up. Shew, that was terrible. It was nice though, to see the Umpires come together and get a call right.

I do agree though, we do censor ourselves a lot. People probably think I should censor my mouth a bit more, since I have the tendency of saying things that are abrasive and a bit mean. I hardly ever do though. In my writing, I don't really do a lot of censoring either, for the protection of my readers. I censor myself because I am just unwilling to go there for myself.. Some of them probably wished I went farther, especially in my sex scenes, they are always bordering between fade to black and erotica. But I don't wish to push the envelope, I am a strict romance/comedy/drama writer for the most part and it is what I like. In writing, if you do anything taboo with little or no conviction behind it, it just becomes an eyesore. You have to be at least comfortable to go there and do it some sort of justice or you won't be believable. You will get negative criticism from those that shoot off about the story having it there in the first place AND the ones that are ok with it being there, but NOT doing it smoothly and on par with the rest of the story. If you're doing it for shock and awe, you probably need to rethink it. Having a scene or a portion of the story that doesn't fit with the rest is like having a square peg and a round hole. IT will annoy everyone. An author wants an audience. You have to be comfortable with that audience and the audience has to be comfortable with the story you give them. I'm not saying, 'don't do that,' I'm saying, 'know what you are doing, before you do it.'

Map: Six Decades of the Most Popular Names for Girls By State
Krista replied to methodwriter85's topic in The Lounge
Hmm, named my daughter Sophia. And another daughter named Ashlyn, which really is a play on Ashley and Lynn. Interesting to see how names seemed to catch on and spread through the country. I like older names. Once upon a time, some of my favorite names were Addison, Kathryn, Sara, Abegail, Sebastian, Anna, Alice, Luke, Mitchell etc.. I'd take a guess if they did the Boy's naming list through the decades it will switch from some of the names like, Richard, Henry, Samuel, to more common biblical names like, Matthew, Luke, Johnathon, Michael. Then get into the Andrew, Drew, Cody, Christian, they were all commonly used and popular. Then Collin, Aiden, Cayden, Hayden. But I think Micheal and Andrew never really have relinquished their spots in the top five? Where as the female names lose favor in big ways and them come back in big ways again.. -
Absolutely NOT. The Reds on the other hand...

United Sports of America- If Each State Played 1 Sport

Shew, Kentucky had something nice. Horse Racing, I knew it would be something like that.. because of the Kentucky Derby. I did squint to make sure I didn't see something like, Red Neck Log Rolling or Hillbilly Hand Fishin' something like that.. -
Happy Birthday!!! Have a great one!

Name your favourite gay movie. What did you like best about it?
Krista replied to Yuki Winchestor's topic in The Lounge
Ciao - Slow moving, not entirely a love story. It's actually quite sad in some parts, and a bit quirky in others. I thought they took an idea that was done before, and not a whole lot was spectacular about the film overall, but heh, for some reason it has always pulled me in. Something about the best friend that brought them together on different terms. Thinking that they were actually good for one another as well, but never taking that next step for what ever reason, probably because the relationship never could work, because of the friend, it would be a difficult "threesome," to maneuver around. Soldier's Girl - I think is a movie everyone should see really. I think the acting and the story is extremely nice and well done. It's actually one of my favorites. Based on actual events. Mambo Italiano - Very corny, but hilarious in some parts. Not typical. Latter Days - Convincing, didn't like many of the side actors though. But honestly, I like a lot of them. I just don't like the endings to a lot of them. Usually the ones that end nicely are borderline too corny and too unrealistic for the rest of the movie. And then there's the ones that the 'gays' always die in the end.. of some sort of disease, violence, addiction, what ever. I don't know why the genre has to go to extremes... to be fair though all genres do. -
Hmm.. I'm very conflicted about the outcome of the Pirates and the Cardinals... the way the Pirates fans are acting, it makes me sick.. lol. But as a Reds fan, I just cannot like the Cardinals. Very sad that the Reds his a really low spot at the end of the season. The Manager was axed too and they're thinking about trading one of their best players as well. I hope they don't completely implode on themselves, they were just starting to get good again. As long as the National League wins it, I guess I don't care who.

Depends on the person(s) and the mood I'm in. If I answer the door to, "Don't you know the End is near?", I'll usually say, "I wasn't aware, no," and close the door. I think I sufficiently answered their question. If I'm in a bad mood or in a state of dress that I don't want visitors, I just don't open the door, or I do and tell them I'm busy.. or if they're pushy, I put a bit more force in closing the door than necessary. None of them are ever really pushy around here though, I dare say if one was, they might lose a few toes or fingers if they try to block the door from closing. If it is those people handing out those small green/red bibles I just smile and tell them I already have one. Because I do already have one... and the print is larger and easier to read than in those tiny little things. If they are just wanting to be informational about their church/movement/organization, I listen. I mean they are at least being nice about it. I never let them in the house though, once they get into the house they're difficult to get back out. Where I live now, I have child proofed the front gate, and you'd be surprised how many adults have trouble with it.

Just because they didn't make YOU throw your panties onto the stage, doesn't mean they aren't a good band Steven. Although, I've never been a fan of them either - dated rock and roll/pop has never been my thing.
-
Well said! I have NEVER been able to watch Professional Football and Basketball, actually I dislike them both a lot. But Major League Baseball, I will watch, and I do enjoy. But heh, even though the Reds have imploded and can't get a damn ball out of the infield, unless it is an outfield pop-up, I might stop watching that too. Hmph. Might save Aaron and I a lot of money in the swear jar.

I struck out the ones I didn't like. Some of the ones left, are informative to new authors so I think they should stay - they serve a purpose. Maybe edit the first post with everyone's suggestions. They have been lost in all the side-discussions, cut down on repetition.
-
Chatty Kathy-s.. I'll have to agree that the Kitty reference is a bit dated... and the reference with Dom has sadly lost a lot of relevance as well. (Don't lynch me please! ) And other Reputation ranks with member references shouldn't be added. Like Cia said, people come and go and references lose relevance pretty easily. Cheat So Good - referenced the ability people had to like their own posts, which also has been fixed.
-
Ass in the Air Slut, has a nice ring to it.. it should be a higher reputation, of course. Then there's: I Survived Krista Long Enough Bad Ass - since there's a "A little more bad ass' so it only makes sense there is a "bad ass" one coming along sometime or another.
-
When GA allowed negative hits to the reputation if you went to 'other' way you eventually landed on, 'meow' as well.
-
Heh. Well, it ended in a cliff hanger. So of course I want a part 2. I'd like to know a bit of back story with the main character apart from how they supposedly met. His honest and true reaction would have been nice as well. So get on that.

The majority of the student athletes in that same spotlight seem to be managing. Making any excuse that it is just because he's young, when so many others are out there doing what they are supposed to do, makes him the ass that he is. And Yes, YB, I expect more from the SEC. We win championships here, we don't like to cater to dumb asses that seem surprised they can win a football game. All these other teams can contain these large egos, Texas A&M needs to start taking notes or go back to playing football in the Big 12.

Oh goodness... that's embarrassing.. lol.
