Is the glass half empty or half full? It would depend on how you look at it. Supressing the urge to jump into something headfirst could be careful, protective and smart (or protective smart, if that's what you meant. Or it could be surrendering to fear. I kind of do that... Only I consider it protecti, careful and smart. But then that's me. James

Because you want to live, because you want to experience life, because you want all the benefits that come with living. That's why you bother to wake up in the morning. That or something else. But there is a reason. and its a good one. I know all about set backs and all that nasty shit. So I know how you feel, but sometimes you just have to hope that things will turn out right, even when there's no sight of things turning out correctly. James

yeesh a bunch of pessimistic answers. and none that are helping me. people. come on now. This isnt a threat about how things should be ... or what society expects of you guys. What i am asking is... if you know any gay couples that have decided tehy wanted to be partners for lifes. and kind of got engaged or even married. and how -if they did - exchange something? like a ring? i heard one couple exchanged locks of hair? or had them intertwined.... i'm pretty sure there are other ways couples have shown their permanent status of relationship. but im not sure. which is what this is for. :-P or maybe there is - are - gay couples in here that are in a permanent relationship and have done something to show their permanent relatoinship. I kind of find it hard to believe that there arent gay couples that havent done something. i know theyre out there. :-P but yeah... James

I'm glad you were blessed with such interesting friends. that way the rest of us dont have to deal with such things. james -
So when two guys get engaged.... does one give the other an engagement right? Or whut? What have other people done? or in what other ways have couples shown there... presumably eternal relationship. ??? James.

-Do you think people (straight or gay) are prone to falling in love with their best friend? Or is this just over-represented in the forum. People aren't proned to falling in love with their best friends, and its only over represented because people talk about their feelings in the forum. :? i dont see many people coming and saying how they arent in love with their best friend. or talking about how both friends are mutually unattracted to each other and that being a problem. People that want to talk about it will talk about it, but i would hardly think that people are proned. However, when a person does fall inlove with their best friends it may create problems which is why its talked about. -Do you think GLBT people are more likely to experience this than straight people? Naw. Theres nothing that we experience that they themselves dont experience, and theres nothing that the LGBT experiences more than they do except for sexual harrassment, AID/HIV and STDs :? but other than that (and whatever i forgot to mention ) we experience everything equally as our hetero counterparts. -Has it happened to you or someone you know? Heck yes. -Why do you think it happens in general? People tend to surround themselves with others that are akin to themselves and sometimes an affection grows there. Not all the time though. I think it all depends on whether or not you want someone that is like you or opposite you. And if your bf is like you in many ways your chances of having feelings other than friendships are bound to increase. but that odesnt mean it will happen with everyone. just the chances increase. -Overall is it a good thing or a bad thing, and why? To fall in love with a best friend? Every situation is unique. It oculd turn out to be a good thing. You might not end up with your best friend, but your friendship could gain strength. Then again you could get together with them, things not end up working out and a. you break up and your friendship is jeopardized. but then that leaves room for another best friend or b. things dont work out you end up best friends and things get stronger. or it could be a bad thing. however im in an optimistic mood so i care not to think why it could be bad. hahahah that made no sense but thats A-ok

Why dont you just explain to everyone how tired you are and how you need to spend time with yourself to recooperate. you cant take care of everyone else if you dont take care of yourself. not that youre trying to? or maybe you are... dunno. but you do need to take care of your own needs and im sure your friends would understand. because as your friends they should ya know? but thats just what i think. im sure that whatever you do it will be for the greater good. James

Why take a life partner?
Objectivist commented on AFriendlyFace's blog entry in Chronicles of My Life
There's really no good reason to take a life partner. Unless you like having sex with the same person, and having a deep emotional connection while your having sex or as some people like to call it 'making love' or at any other point in your life. Unless you like being tortured by your partners habits that really irritate you. If you like to be nagged at by the same person till you die... Dieing from either their nagging or natural causes. If you like waking up to the same hidious face every morning. or kissing them on the mouth even when they have yet to brush their teeth. Or waking up to an empty bed, when they are away for whatever reason, and smelling their scent. If you like smiling like the luckiest person alive knowing that your parnter is yours and no one else's. If you like interlocking your fingers with those of your partner while walking along and stuff like that. Then sure you should take a life partner. I dont know why anyone would want a life partner. Hopefully that didnt help you. James -

I totally agree with your husband. and his reaction. thats the exact same reaction i had. i mean. what the f**K? thats just not right. as for the prick. damn prick. and if he thinks the service is so bad. and he finds everyhting so unsatisfactory then he sholdnt come on such a regular basis. i mean. you must be doing something right if he keeps coming back. or at least you should mention that to him. maybe then you wont have to deal with him no more. anywho. i hope you have a nice evening. im f**king tired so nighty James -
