This, my dear Wayne is a strategically placed chapter. Bill lifted his eyes again. “You don’t owe Yoder Ranch your life.” His voice had gone rougher now. “And you sure as hell don’t owe it your destruction.” “He already believed ownership and worth were the same thing" “You don't own the building,” Bill said quietly. “You own the pillars.” The only thing I can do for you now is to make sure he can never touch you. Bill Yoder knew exactly what he was doing. When he says that Zane will be angry, he's not kidding. I envision the man turning every shade of purple and steam shooting out his ears. I have one question though-- now that Taggert owns critical, and expensive parcels of Yoder Ranch, shouldn't he have set up his will while he was at the bank? Correct me if I'm wrong, but once ownership was transferred, doesn't that negate the Dead Man's Switch unless Taggert sets it up? If so, he's now vulnerable. Great chapter, my friend!

I'll have you know I was in Vermont today and while I did not climb any trees, I did do the "gently sloping" trail down to the river. "Gentle" my ass. My thighs and toes hate me.

I used ground turkey and seasoned the bejeezus out of it. I got pissed because it took longer to cook than I thought because I made a double batch so I'd have plenty of leftovers to freeze for my later this week when I'm working late. There were still a couple of spots in the middle that needed a few more minutes but I cut around them and threw them back in the oven. Whatever.

I made meatloaf tonight. Let's just say it wasn't my best effort. The child said it was good as did hubs and the mil. I know better. I recognize "placate K because she's pissed off" when I hear it. The Brussels sprouts were good and the au gratin potatoes came out much better than the last time I made them. I guess that's something.

I hate that you're having such trouble with eating. I know you know this, but slow cooking most meat is the best tenderizer there is, especially chicken. You know it's good when it slides off the bone. xoxo

Jesus, Mary and Joseph.... When you unpack a chapter you UNPACK a chapter. Not only was Bill Yoder smart, he was savvy and savage. That ought to be on his headstone. Taggert looked back down at the maps. Then said very quietly, “My grandfather built a dead man's switch into the bones of Yoder Ranch. And the only thing preventing the end of the biggest cattle operation in Oklahoma is my heartbeat.” That last sentence speaks volumes. Pack a punch much, Wayne? The scene between Taggert and Ash was an eye opener too. I didn't realize how complicated land ownership and rights could be. Thanks for doing your research. You explained something complex in a great way. The brand reveal...not only to Ash, but to Branford. Taggert took a huge leap of faith when he turned and let Branford see it. The last tumbler of trust clicked into place for Taggert. Fantastic chapter. This keeps getting better and better!

I'll keep my fingers crossed that you find something soon. Losing your job unexpectedly sucks. Make sure you file for unemployment as soon as possible if you haven't already. I beg to differ. Although cute, which is their only saving grace, every single dachshund I've met, read about, and seen online is the canine equivalent of a toddler whipping off his diaper and running hell bent for leather naked across the yard as fast as his little legs will take him with Mom or Dad chasing him while cursing up a storm.

Just for that I think I'll hold off another month or two before I start posting my new story. Guess who the Krew will blame?

I have to admit. I'm enjoying editing this story. I still haven't read the last few chapters, but I've really had fun with this.

I had to read this chapter a second time because there was just too much that wasn't said yet came across louder than an atomic bomb. Speaking of atomic bomb....Detonation is what's coming. Right now Taggert is in a holding pattern. Rebecca gave him a mega download of info but not the whole picture. Once he knows exactly what holdings are his will determine his course of action. Then the you-know-what will hit the fan because dear old dad will find out. Boom. “And I'll fight, Ash. But not for that life." Taggert’s next words came even softer. "I'll fight for this one.” Yet another understatement. Thursday huh? Dammit.

So the plot thickens.....Mwaahaahaahaa. Because suddenly the entire shape of Taggert’s life had changed. This is a bit of an understatement. Throughout this entire chapter, you did a phenomenal job of showing the different emotions Taggert was shuffling like a Vegas dealer. I was trying to find the right word to describe this and all I could think of is 'metamorphosis' and thats not quite right but close enough. Ash saw it. Without Tag saying a single word, he saw how Taggert's demeanor went from humble ranch hand to knowledgeable ranch owner, and that scared him. Taggert was savvy enough to pick up on it...another switch in his demeanor so we can add concerned boyfriend to his persona. Taggert is shaping up to be a very complex, but sharp character. One of your strongest. Fantastic job on this chapter, Wayne!
