That's what I was alluding to to guess we just have to see where you and the story take us. However at this stage he is probablely still fearing the worst outcome because of where they were said to be. Its quite strange that you have chosen to write and put this story up within the time frame of another major quake and tsunami disaster in that region they seem to be coming in a very frequent occurrence in recent years along with volcanic disturbances. Such things do however make for a great read and a realistic one.

I am assuming from the prelude bylines to the story that the wife and older sons are lost in this tragedy and the father has to regroup with his two youngest boys. At least that is what my understanding of what is in the introduction to the story.

That surely, is the worse news a parent can ever be given, that a partner and /child /children has gone missing or killed/died. A parent should never outlive their children, as the pain of loss and the void that is left, never heals. It is much more like a Cancer or cancre that while others don't outwardly, see it it is still there underneath, eating away and killing everything it touches .That he finds his two youngest ,is a blessing and very lucky happenstance, that they were safe at the hotel. It is going to be fascinating to see where this story goes!

Great story but I shore didn't see the ending coming .S Ian has the hots for Chad. That is going to make things so complicated and funny on many fronts. What a sarcastic charmer the boy is!

Keeping Secrets and Telling Lies
Bushman60 commented on dkstories's story chapter in Keeping Secrets and Telling Lies
Another greet chapter. Often in politics, diplomacy and statemenship misdirection ,half truths and even outright lies are used to protect the truth. Sir Winston Churchill once said ," The truth is that rarest of commodities which can't be bargained with or traded or sold and must be protected at all costs."This axiom is true, for without it we are doomed to descend into chaos and dispair. There are quite a few at this conference who know this and practice it for very good and noble reasons. I hate that this is sometimes the case because I am someone that if I was to lie I always get caught out as I have never been able to tell one with a straight face it would be no good me ever playing poker for the same reason . -
Another exciting chapter. Dylan has certainly had a rough time of it getting on top of the vile trouble makers. It seems circumstances keep conspiring to put him in the sight of angry people and flying bullets and bombs that nearly get him each time. I am beginning to think he has the nine lives of a cat.

Of course that you say is all correct nephylim! The boys do both have mental problems and issues which all stem from the fact both parents are weak abusive in their way and absent . They both need an urgent rough wake up call which I am sure they will get before stories end. As Good as Amara's defense and protection is, his way of doing it is somewhat wrong and amoral, plus his attack on Drew is wrong and is for all the wrong reason's. Drew's strength here is rather than being argumentative and defensive and all that he quietly sits their and listens to the boys and sometimes comments and reveals a little of himself to them and us. The little he reveals of himself sets them both back and does quite a lot to earn their trust and respect but they are going to be tough nuts to crack. To the boys it shows he is willing able and prepared to listen quietly , without really imposing himself in the conversation but showing he cares enough to listen and be there for them tall too. I am also sure the lady manager has fallen Drew's eyes because of what she says about the boys being manipulative and so on. He recognises this in her when she goes of in a rant which pretty much ends when she talks about how nasty and manipulative the mother is. It seems until Drew's arrival all the adults around the boys are themselves manipulative and abusive and unable and very unwilling to support the boys in the ways they need and give them the protection and support they should be getting from the parents. Its not hopeless yet ,although the boys may feel that it is and be quite overwhelmed by it all, and hurt the , parents aren't there and it could soon become a hopeless and helpless situation and rocket out of control and the realm of sanity.

What a great chapter excitement wise and a great cliff and then some in the last minutes. Dylan is so switched on and even in the direst of times answers vital important questions come from that unlikeliest people and situations. I have often heard it said democracy is built on compromise and is doomed to eventual failure. Then I have heard at the same time a benevolent dictatorship is the best form of leadership as it makes decisions and brooks no compromise. This isn't the answer either as what balance is there to check a malevolent dictatorship if were to rise. I don't think there is a perfect answer except for what Edmund Pitt is supposed to have said ,at the time of the American War of Independence. His famous comment was , " If the Law says that then the Law is an ass." I believe it was uttered at a time when King George the lll was threatening to impose more taxes and his will on the situation , in a more irrational and despotic way. I don't think it would have earned him a knighthood from his majesty or the government of the day. I think good men men need to stand and be counted if evil and tyranny isn't to hold sway in government or anywhere else.

What and interesting chapter. The use of the simplistic car analogy while accurate and app is still simplistic when applied to the complex problems of international relationships and problems. They are useful in getting a certain point across where complexity can be a hide for things that one doesn't desire to see the light of day. The reiteration of this points servers to underline then underpin and highlight them. Conversely, the same standards apply to the threatened use of the big stick ie; military force. I think that the fact that Dylan concedes to the wizened fatherliness of Khulari puts him in good stead and earns serious kudos points to Dylan because he has striven hard to not act with a heavy hand but comes as someone that has urgent needs but is also prepared to offer something that will be of equal or greater value in the long run. If the there was ever anything that the moslem nation ever understood and understood very well it is the value of trade and bartering for what is wanted and needed now and in the future. It is fundamentally a part of there culture and is in ground in their very blood. They are are first and for mostly traders of the first the first water. By equaling but not exceeding the threats implied by the otherwise but taking the hard firm but equal line that both can equally gain or loose but one has more too loose than the other has earned Dylan great respect in the eyes of Khulari. This is vindicated by the fact in that in their informal chats over drinks that Khulari puts out his invitation to attend evening prayers with Khulari, something that is only asked for in the rarest of occasions . It also has serious undertones for the negotiations as it seriously underscores the respect that each side for the other and what they have brought to the table and expects. It also highlights that as young as Dylan is He as the serious respect Khulari as does Henry his brother because Mexico's crisis. And also of how Dylan frankly answered his concerns over the renegade Russian sub problem and where the problems actually originated. This earned many kudos points for Dylan With Khulari as well as the fact that despite repeated attempts to bait Dylan he didn't fall for those traps and become a bellicose beligerant negotiator full of bluster and whimsy and no substance.

Ivor slipper , Like I wouldn't like to wear pendant around my neck it would be worse than the proverbial mill stone me thinks.lol There are are plenty of times when the phone app decide the wrong spelling is what it wants and makes me cranky and frustrated because it won't let me change it to what a dictionary says it is too.lol

I do think Detective Diamonds shananigans were chicanery as what he did and didn't do were very much in keeping with the definition of that word. I LIKE to used one word instead of a down if I can.
-
The misspelling wasn't originally Hellshields fault. It was mine and mine alone. It was done on Mob.android which only has a very basic dictionary. I don't complain about poor grammar in comments but do get a little uptight about mistakes in works where one would expect a much more correct and formal style of English usage. Lol.

Not always and mostly I do my own. I thought there was something off with my spelling of chicanery. Plus I was using my mobile android which whilst it has a dictionary, it does require you to know the word and enter it as it is not always likely to be included. Thanks.

Oh the agony and the pain. The ayatollah could really do with a series of missiles up his rear! Maybe he would be not so uptight and antagonistic. ..There Were a lot of interesting side issues as well. It will be interesting to see if the ayatollah changes his tact now or if he continues on and forces the envoys hand in some way? The revelation of a moslem gifted has clearly put volcanoe in the works and is clearly a clear and present danger I believe the term is.

Mike could have been HIV pos because of his uncles shiccanery.
-
You are right about Adam being concerned about Diamond. I suspect from what is implied that maybe he was molesting his nephew Mike which set this whole sequence of event off to begin with and would explain mikes strange behaviour.

Mr Edgar's is very brave and caring of his students but golly those other boys too are well up I. The brass balls department.

I am not surprised by the appendicitis diagnosis one bit. In Troys case it is classic and easily diagnosed. In many it is not that simple. In my case it was like a bad case of gastric but I couldnt stand driving The tractor at all. The bouncing around was to much.
