    There are cave dwellings still inhabited in a nearby town, Paterna, which featured in an Almodóvar film with Penelope Cruz! “”Dolor y Gloria” 2019. The “casa-cuevas” as they are called here play an important role in the film.

    A few health issues plus the evil dachshund puppies have rather stunted my creativity. I have a couple of things,stewing away. Next week we have two weeks in the mountains of N Spain (Los Picos de Europa) without internet so I’m hoping to do a follow up to the little thing I wrote about the last potter..

    Entered a whole world very different from my needs or desires, but the writer’s skill is to draw even someone like me into that world; to see his world from his perspective, even if I don’t fully understand it. A stimulating and challenging read. I’m hooked.

    My days of peace are almost over. 12 hour journey back to Valencia begins at 06-30 tomorrow. This pm shopping for bacon, Irish sausages and squeaky toys for the evil monsters. yes, I’ve really enjoyed this story. Now looking for next binge! X

    Finally caught up with this great rollercoaster ride of a read. Great story-telling with an amazing list of protagonists from sinners to saints to agents of Satan. Who knows where we will go next.

    Hey Spyke, me too! Dad was Irish catholic from Tipperary! Mum Protestant lass from Manchester. My Irish gran wasn’t amused when she was told about a new girlfriend! I live in an area full of potato fields in Valencia so there is no shortage. Drs have yet to forbid my addiction to chips and roasties. What they don’t know, they can’t ban!

    A thought-provoking chapter, this one more than most. It’s often a simple meal or drink when these stories of Robert’s shift up a dramatic gear, and not the big dramas like many other stories I’ve been reading recently. For older readers, and not so old, I suppose, the question is, “How was/is it for me?” This story goes from strength to strength.

    I wholeheartedly agree. We are lulled into a sense of peace with many-levelled relationships developing and then come the twists and turns as ignorance and bigotry show their ugly faces, but also some surprises. All beautifully written. Perfect.

    Umm. I’ve got the opening sentence sorted. It’s all of three words but strongly connected to the theme. For the rest I need Seshat to do her stuff… or Calliope… or Brigid….
