I can totally see your point but like @scrubber6620 said earlier, it's less about who's right or wrong. I think if we step back, we can see that each failed in some way. Though, I personally side with Loren more than I side with Jay. Jay loves his family and wants to share it but in doing so, he's flaunting a very tender part of Loren's past. He did not tread lightly and it was painful. Now, it is unfortunate that Jay has to walk on eggshells, but sometimes we live in an uncomfortable place for the sake of the ones we love.

Right or wrong aside, this is very much Loren. He is both a phoenix who has rebuilt himself from the ashes, while also being a neglected pound puppy that cowards when yelled at.

Holidays in general are a struggle for Loren. I'm not sure if he talked about it when he first told Jay about everything or if it's talked about in the future (in that case, I'm sorry for spoiling), but besides waking up Christmas morning with no family, holidays were always a source of emotional distress in that he was always on the outside of it while Lars wasn't. When he was able to decide to partake in holidays or not, he chose not to.

Family does mean different things to different people. Jay views his family as perfect. Loren's nuclear family was a nuclear bomb. He rebuilt his family to look and work very differently. How does that get reconciled? Not just by Jay, but by Loren? Since chapter one, he's been afraid of the stereotypical perfect family (Jay's family.)

Yes. I'm laughing. Jay is totally an overeager puppy and Loren is a feisty tom cat. When Jay jostles Loren too much, Loren whomps him on the nose real quick. I love it. Lars will unfold, albeit slowly.

I don't see Loren letting him out of timeout early. That's not his style. Loren is hurt and he's going to need something genuine from Jay. This is no small hurdle.

I've been waiting for someone to connect the .99 but no one did! Or maybe they did but just didn't comment. The comments are truly the highlight of each chapter. It's an added value, one for which I'm thankful that everyone is willing contribute.
