As a medical doctor who works with teens, I've never had a couple that age come in for STD testing at that stage of their relationship. It was a good element to include in the story.
It is amazing how people behave towards those they feel superior too. This rings of truth (although it is extreme) and makes me think of Frederick Douglass's writings about how owning slaves changes the master for the worse.
What is so great is that this story has a lot of great realism. Not all high school gay boys are nice people. It's not all roses and sunshine. High school kids lack life experience and don't recognize dangers as well as adults do. Great story.
Sure, but there are 4 factors here that are ridiculous. How many 7-8 year olds 'come out' - ? Even one saying things wouldn't be taken seriously. Have you talked with a 7 year old recently? The author can write anything they want but I still think this chapter flew off the rails, badly. Like I said earlier, the idea of Michael calling them to go and help the child is a super awesome idea but the follow up didn't work for me and I don't think would work for many others. I guess we will see where this story takes us next.
Uh, they just kidnapped a child. I'm pretty sure that's a felony in Germany. Also, child at death's door eating ice cream 15 minutes later? Also, 8 year old being thrown out as a gay? Hard to believe. Also, Germany has child services and would not return a child 'to be sold', nor would any modern country. This is just not believable. Consider a revision? I really liked the Michael parts and the first half of the chapter.
I'm liking the story but for the fact that I know little about Nohr as a person. It's like he has no personality or anything. I loved the trajectory of this chapter, however.
This was a fragment, not a Chapter. I think things are happening too fast now. I like Nohr, but no time has been spent describing him and sharing the evolution of their relationship. This is often the most enjoyable component of a story.
I like the Michael element. As a medical doctor, I always find it super amusing to read stories and the things people write about happening in hospitals. Don't worry about it. It's all good, but it's still amusing.
Thanks for writing this story. It was great to get a conclusion. Danny was an interesting character. If you look at durable surveys of the adult population, there are as many bisexuals as homosexuals, yet bisexual characters receive far less attention. Thanks.
wow. you are cranking these out. Lots of spelling errors relating to mentioning Skype in this and the prior chapter. You can say "Skyped" or use a connecting verb in the appropriate tense. I like these characters and am looking forward to see the story progress.
This is an enjoyable story! I like it but with the pace of updates, I don't want to have to reread the whole thing every time a story comes out. If you can't pick up the pace, I recommend completing all chapters then release them on a schedule. You can still get input and revise along the way. If an update happens so rarely, I can't follow because the details of the story will be forgotten by then.
Assuming Bailey received his injury in the Navy, he would be getting ~$40,000 tax-free a year in disability payments which could go up to $60K depending on other factors. He would also have free healthcare & adaptive devices.
If you get Global Entry from the state department, there is a border ID card you can carry that lets you go to Canada and back. I think its good for Mexico too. There is usually a special line for cardholders. I miss driving across the border for high school dates and similar activities.
I appreciate the conversation on this topic and the variety of viewpoints which have been expressed. I'm surprised and delighted by the above quote, which is my favorite response so far. How unexpected and creative!
I see your point. I like it when relationships develop slowly and take their time. For me, that's the most exciting part. For Jimmy, he has a lot to get used to and its nice to see Rich letting it happen at a comfortable pace for him.
