I'm happy that Momo has found a friend in Leo and that it looks like they are bonded somehow. But I fear that it will be of little consolation to Momo unless something can be done about his mistreatment at the hands of a brute of a father.

2021 Fall Anthology: An Unconventional Gift *NOW LIVE*

If this is a taste of what is to come please bring it on, I loved the first offering and have enjoyed reading some unique pieces of work. -
Spirited Holiday Engagement
Mancunian commented on W_L's story chapter in Spirited Holiday Engagement
Unique and surprisingly different in a great way. I love it. -
A thought provoking piece that i think many of us can relate to, I'm sure we all had someone who gave us the courage to face some aspect of life.

Chapter 1 - Precious Memories
Mancunian commented on Bill W's story chapter in Chapter 1 - Precious Memories
Fanciful and far fetched but I love the premise, if this were possible there are many memories I'd love to reproduce, now you have me dreaming. -
This is a great reminder that we can't solve all problems but support and coping mechanisms can help to alleviate problems and make it easier to 'ride them out'.

Beautiful story of a boys journey from the closet to being 'out' and in the background there is true parental love, unconditional as it should be.

just one word, beautiful.

A nice short story, it makes you wish you could add sound effects. Thank you for sharing.

Over the course of the first few weeks the project management team of Max, Kevin and The Major met and made plans on how best to proceed. Although there were one or two initial 'hiccups' they gelled well, each appreciating the others expertise. Max had the building knowledge that was complimented by The Major's military planning and organisational abilities, while Kevin kept track of the finances and accounting keeping a tight hold of the purse strings. Contractors were engaged on the merit

When I read the first couple of paragraphs I thought I might not like this story but I read on. Then it drew me in, it promises to be a love story with a difference and had me coming out in goose-bumps. By the end of the chapter I'd been pulled in completely and can't wait for the next instalment. Skilful and beautiful writing I take my hat off to you.

A unique story with a twist that tells of love, or could it be lust, winning out. An unusual and enjoyable read.

Different and unique, I thought I was reading about a dream, the twist to the plot at the end surprised me. Well written, I enjoyed reading this short. Thank you for sharing.

A nicely written brief description of what would be a tense journey for Karl, I hope he fares well on reaching England.

It's a bit of a sad start to what promises to be a good story and adventure for Karl, I look forward to reading more.

Thank you @Freddie1 for the encouraging comments. I am not sure if there will be any further follow-ups or spin offs from The Boot, but I have intentionally given myself a lot of options should I decide to write any further after this story comes to it's end. If I do decide to add to the series/world I will let everyone know either in a status update or make an announcement via one or more of my existing stories.

Thank you @Freddie1 for your thoughts, who knows what will happen in the future? There are many possibilities for The Boot, its staff and volunteers, not to mention the guests. decisions are yet to be made.

Christmas day was a happy affair at The Boot, as usual it started early when some of the guests woke and started opening their gifts like excited children. Christmas wrapping paper was strewn everywhere, personalised tags were read and kept as treasured possessions just as much as the gifts that they had been attached to. Small items of clothing like socks, underwear and t-shirts may not be special to some, but when you have nothing and what you do have has been worn so many times it is threadba

When Andy entered The Boot he was greeted by a hive of activity, the supermarket had delivered the results of the trolley, everything was being wrapped by volunteers who couldn't be there Christmas Day, except for the women's sanitary products, they would be handed out separately and discreetly. More volunteers were preparing vegetables for tomorrow's dinner and preparing a buffet for guests to eat later that night. The decorations and Christmas tree had been up for a couple of weeks and gave Th

After the excitement calmed down Christian asked Ian, “So what's this surprise that you have for me?” Looking apprehensive Ian opened a drawer under the counter and took out a display pad covered in purple velvet, on it lay an array of different sized silver boots. “I hope you approve, what do you think?” As a “Wow” escaped Andy's lips Christian picked one up that measured about one inch long and one inch high. “I love them, they are fantastic. What are you planning to do with them?”

I agree with you @belisima unfortunately I think that there will always be a need for places like The Boot. For now we have to accept that The Boot is nearing it's final days, so let's revel in the fresh new concept that brings with it new hope for the future of those trying to improve their life chances. There are possibilities for more and new stories if/when they are written.

When the two men pulled away from each other Christian felt awkward and stared at his feet, “I'm sorry Andy I shouldn't have done that, it's not that I don't want to or as if I don't have feelings. I do, it's just, I'm not ready.” Andy hooked a finger under Christian's chin and lifted his head, seeing the tears that were being held back he knew what he had to say. “Christian it's okay. I'm not going to pretend to understand because I don't but I can wait, I love you.” “Thank you.”

Andy felt the discomfort of his wound, the itchiness was annoying and distracting but it meant that he was healing. Stepping out of the shower he removed the waterproof covering that kept it dry and discarded it in the bin. Luckily he hadn't actually been stabbed, the flesh wound to his side had kept him off work for the last three nights and he couldn't return for at least another seven days, that was the doctors orders. Taking a fresh pair of tight boxer briefs from his drawer he slowly

Bobbi snuggled down in a quiet corner of The Boot, the old mattress was more comfortable that the cardboard 'shack' she built in the back alley. Three weeks before she had left her home after yet another argument and beating fearing for her life, as she drifted off to sleep the only thought in her mind was 'what now'. Jeff had taken his paperwork into the dining room leaving Jeff and Christian alone to chat in the office. “Are you going to tell me, did you and Andy sort yourselves out at th

Thank you @belisima for the valued comment, there is always something going on in the background in The Boot just like in real life. Hopefully these guys won't 'miss the boat' like so many of us have, but we don't know yet and we have to wait and see 😉.
