The Ghost Hunters would be very proud of the guys. Instead of simply accepting that there were ghosts there, they worked to debunk it. Although they can’t always do it, it’s always their first line of action. Those supposed ghost hunters are only in it for the thrill and imagining whatever they could.

Somehow I missed this story when it first appeared. It, somehow, popped up, magically, in my browser today and I started reading it to see if it was something I had been reading before. Quite an interesting concept: Alien observers keeping an eye on a specific human child for some unknown, at this time, reason. I’m looking forward to reading more. Adam has quite an independent streak, doesn’t he, and doesn’t like to be told what to do. It will be interesting to see him interact with these Watchers.

You are on page 4 of comments for this chapter alone. Are you worried about readership anymore? You seemed to be in one of the first chapters. You said the first couple of chapters had a lot of comments and then they died out. I think this chapter showed you we are just as involved in day 20 as in day 1.

Except now she has frequent contact with them. They were isolated before. I still don’t think it’s the same thing, but that’s me.

I was going to add the same thing after reading the new comments.

Oh! It’s Friday again! CJ and Company are back! Yay! I think Cox definitely knows how Northman is going to react to CJ and his activities. She is most definitely ‘accidently’ looking for CJ at these most opportune moments, just in time to stop Northman’s Revenge. You can be sure she read up on him when she was notified about him, in particular, being assigned to this Embassy. She wouldn’t do that for just anyone, but with his history, you know perfectly well she was informed about him. She is also very much aware of Northman’s ‘idiosyncrasies’, shall we say? She is very much aware of the people and circumstances around her. She wouldn’t have gotten where she is if she wasn’t. Wait until Northman catches wind of CJ training with the Marines! Northman made it quite clear at the first meeting with CJ that he disapproved of the political side CJ had aligned himself with. As a result, he has disapproved of many things, if not all, dealing with with CJ. Is he aware that CJ has a husband and a child? It could be an interesting meeting, Northman and Ozzie. (I think CJ and Oz are so much more intelligent than Northman and I think he may be aware of this, which contributes to the ‘jealousy’.) I get the feeling Northman is looking for something to get rid of CJ. He thought he could do it by preventing any work on the school tech project during working hours, when he knew it would be difficult for things to be accomplished, but the Ambassador backed CJ and gave him all the leeway he needed. Somehow, I get the distinct feeling that Northman will be playing a BIG part in the fiasco that sends CJ, Ozzie and Liebe running back to DC.

How does living on the farm equate with living in the apartments? I see them as two distinctly different environments. Maybe I didn’t understand your concept of the apartments.

Good luck with Mom, Tim! You have your work cut out there for you! Thankfully, Dad can back you up on this, as well as Eva and John and the EMTs. She has to open her eyes here. Good luck on the case, also, but it sounds like you have this one in the bag. Good job snooping, guys. Its exciting to be buying the goat farm. I’m sure it will bring back many happy memories. Randy and his Mom will be happy there, but you will have to hire some additional farmhands. Randy can’t do it all while also going to school.

As I was reading the hunt for the camera, I was remembering my own search for a new SLR for my husband for Christmas many years ago (I wound up with Nikon because he was partial to them). I was just as confused then as today! Sheesh! You can deep fry anything. A few years ago, in the state fairs, the big food item was deep fried BUTTER! Yes. They would take pats of frozen butter, coated in batter and deep fry them. They were very popular.

I just didn’t want to say it out loud…

Well, I guess she just proved Timothy’s point of her being emotionally unstable. I agree she needs downtime after this outburst. I don’t know that you or I would wind up in the hospital under sedation, but then, we aren’t psychotic like AM! It’s going to take a LONG time before she settles down to the conditions of her new life, especially with her detested brother in charge of her finances. She’ll probably try to get Mr. Morris (?) or Mr. James to get rid of Timothy. If they are smart, once they settle this case, they will quickly run away fast and far!

If they’re doing all this for a home theater, I can hardly wait to see what they’ll do for the terrace that they wanted so badly!

I was fortunate enough, as an educator at the end of the school year, to be able to take the last couple of weeks of school out and go to Mom and spend them with her while she was in hospice. We had always been very open with each other and had no secrets, but we talked even more during this time. I am happy to say that we left nothing unsaid between us. There is no thought of, “I wish I had told her…”. I told her! The only regret I had was being unable to stay the entire summer (she actually rallied enough she got ‘kicked out’ of the hospice and we had to find an assisted living facility with hospice capabilities) and the things I wish I could share with her since. We lost her on Sept. 1 that year. I made it to orientation day and had to leave the next. My doctor then kept me out for over a month and a half for stress! Anyway, Belle’s family and friends have the opportunity to make memories for a lifetime here. They have the chance to talk and say everything that needs to be said. Don’t let the kids ever feel like they missed telling their mother something. If she has to lose this battle, make the kids’ memories happy ones, not sad ones of their mother sick or in pain.

Like I said, this is a hard story to read, but at the same time, it brings happy memories.

I don’t know if they didn’t find them interesting as much as their focus was on a different track of the storyline. Once she brought the 5 Weyrs forward, as far as she was concerned, she dealt with the aftermath from an historical perspective—how modern day Benden dealt with it. When she did the historical stories, she when back to First Landing and First Fall or Moreta and Nerilka. None of them were even close to the time period of the 400-year Leap.
-
This is interesting to see the reactions to the shock caused by the empty Weyrs. I love how you are taking us through these stories that Anne and Todd never did. In the books, we simply followed the Weyrs to the new time 400 Turns ahead and totally ignored the past, at least until they started making the discoveries on the Southern Continent.

Our family has not had good experiences with those in the legal profession. My mother was a legal secretary for many years. She was so good that the attorney could just give her the particulars and she could draw up the will or real estate papers without any further assistance, but she was never given any credit. In fact, they would complain about her taking a sick day or us coming to pick her up! One time she was called for jury duty. When she was asked if there was any reason why she couldn’t serve on a jury, she said, “I work for a lawyer. I know what shysters they are.” She was immediately dismissed and was never called again!

Even so, they are playing games to keep Ann Marie from getting her proper inheritance. If they don’t get the funds back pronto, they deserve everything the judge throws at them and more for their greed.

Such an enjoyable chapter with old, and now new, friends. It is a good way to end our overindulgence. 😊. Now we go weekly. I love how CJ and Owen are now having their nightly recaps of the day just like Cesar and Brett! I’m going to go fix breakfast now for hubby. See you all on Friday! Have a good week!

I agree with @84Mags. A person (usually) doesn’t get such a powerful position without having at least a slightly better understanding of what’s going on. I think the Ambassador saw the article in the paper and knew exactly how Northman would react. She tried to get to CJ first, probably, but Northman was SO ready to pass judgement on someone he is jealous of (oh, yes, he is, in multiple ways), that she had to wind up in his office and give CJ her approval, thus giving him some protection from his vindictive boss. Northman was probably going to reprimand him for not filing the contact report and not listen when CJ tried to explain he was in the middle of doing that when he was called into his office. That tidbit was cleared up by the Ambassador. Yes, she is fully aware of Northman and how he treats his subordinates as well as his politics and how he treats those whom he perceives as an ‘enemy’ to the ‘true’ President! Too bad she can’t do anything about him until he really messes up. Maybe they’ll find out he took a trip in January? BTW, Carlos, thank you so much for this overdose of CJ and company! As I think you can tell from the comments, we are reveling in it! We’ve been patiently waiting for your return and we are ecstatic about this weekend, but I think now we’ll be able to calm down to the weekly dosage.

Wait a sec…the prenup came AFTER the I Do’s? No, that doesn’t seem to be legal to me, either, but then, I’m not a legal expert. She would have had to agreed to everything. Was it witnessed? Notarized? If not, they may be able to easily break it and get rid of her, although she would never acknowledge any of their assistance! Even so, she would never admit to having agreed to these kind of terms. Walk out without any reward? Not her style.

(There are many times I wish we could give multiple responses to comments! (❤️😊😲🤞🏻😢😡))

Obviously, this boss man thinks a lot of himself in his position. He has this new employee, so he’s going to read him the riot act before he even gets settled in. Obviously, the man didn’t even look at CJ’s jacket and find out that he knows more, and more important, people than this guy ever will. CJ probably has more knowledge of proper etiquette, especially political etiquette, in his pinkie than this guy has in his entire repertoire. Good on CJ for keeping his cool. Our boy is growing up and maturing. He just showed himself there and at the cocktail party the previous evening to be a talented diplomat. This Yevgeny approached them, not the other way around. They will have to make excuses to avoid him again. However, the PTB, will probably want to take advantage of the invitations for some kind of counter-intelligence. CJ will NOT be happy and neither will Ozzie. We’ll have to see what happens after boss man blows his top after reading the incident report (I used lower case letters for him, because I don’t want to give him a bigger ego than he already has!).

Well, I think you got it here! I noticed you already have over 75 comments already! I agree. It’s fun having these discussions with others, hearing their impressions and interpretations of the storyline and predictions of where the author will be taking the characters. As far as we are concerned, the longer the chapter and story, the better! OK. Enough commentary for the moment. I have a new chapter to read!
