Brilliantly exciting chapter. We got to see the full use of both Alphas elemental powers, in a battle against the most hardened and evil of thugs. Karma became a real bitch for the Rogues on this day. The image of huge black and white wolves with elemental control of both fire and ice, attacking fro either end, must have been terrifying to behold. Only a dumb ass, hate filled rogue would have the stupidity to fight on, and boy what fun it was to see them presenting themselves as cannon fodder. Those that had the sense to surrender survived. What I really want to know is what they will decide for Michael. If anyone dares to suggest he is exiled, then I will shoot them myself. If he escapes execution again, then they too deserve whatever he does to them. Its an easy choice folks: there is already an order to kill him on sight. Just do it!!!

Black flowers that grow for things you don't know, Or maybe you do, when youre happy to be you.

A book whose meaning was lost to the wise, But not to the meek, nor not to the mild. One that can bring peace as much as it can, To enable the lion to sit down with the lamb.

Enjoy my review, it's so plain to see, That your lyrical verse is setting me free. In time, I am sure, I will read them all, On your words of wisdom, I will frequently call. On your words of wisdom, I will frequently stall.

Yay! They finally got there. The sad thing is that Jenn would have been happy to give up Jordan for Noah's happiness, as a true friend. I really wished when Jordan was breaking up with Jenn that he had answered her question properly. She asked Jordan if this was because of Noah. He needed to say 'yes' and then Jenn would have understood, I'm sure. As it is, Jordan left her heart broken and he didn't need to. For some reason, I feel we need to consider the net happiness of this group of three, and as happy as I am for Noah and Jordan, I feel that there is a net loss where there needn't have been. I hope Jenn can forgive Jordan, in time but he may have just lost the right to be considered a trusted, friend ever again. Jenn's best friend was and hopefully will remain Noah.

I'm so glad that Sebastian didn't get to physically rape Noah. It was close though and Noah was hanging around way too long after it had all turned South. How bad a first boyfriend was that? Jordan will make Sebastian pay if he ever finds out the truth. There is nothing like losing something to make one appreciate what they are missing. So Jordan finding Noah, after fearing the worst, allowed him to kiss long and hard, on pure instinct alone. Jordan is right to act on instinct and enjoy what they have without needing to put a label on it. Labels are for the benefit of others and what Noah and Jordan have, ought to be a personal and private matter for them to enjoy. The only other person that they need to consider is Jenn. It appears that Mrs Dalloway has more to offer than merely providing a grade. There are a lot of life lessons in there, for our three friends. Another great chapter Ethan.

That was intense. Where to begin? Sebastian clearly made an attempt to rape Noah and judging by what Jordan overheard behind the bleachers, he succeeded too. Noah will probably be too embarrassed to tell. Let's hear the facts first but I expect Sebastian needs to feel some swift justice. That whole presentation of Mrs Dalloway was intense too. Not knowing whether Jordan would make it to the presentation and then right through to Jordan's impassioned, free speaking summary that was covertly, yet undeniably, for Noahs benefit: "... you can live in the past or wonder how it would have been, or you can just live your life the way you want. There is no point in wondering what was, because you will only be left guessing and miserable in the end. You have to grasp life now and just live it. Now is the time you have and so ... now is the time to follow what you really want." Sadly and ironically, Jordan needed to take heed of his own words, even more than Noah. The intensity never let up, as it seemed that Noah would walk away and forever deny Jordan the opportunity to explain. So just five minutes proffered and Jordan decides to waste it teaching volleyball. WTF? So frustrating. I totally get that Jordan is far from the stage of understanding himself well enough to declare his sexuality. But would it have hurt him to say that he has had those confusing thoughts too, without committing himself? A small amount of honesty to open some dialogue where they could both share and understand eachother better. As for the ending, I hope it was hugs and maybe even a kiss. Another gem of a chapter Ethan. I cant believe that there is so much more to go. 😊

I continue to love the gentle, steady current of this story and the various dramatic eddies that we get caught upon, as we seamlessly bounce from one to the other. The action and dialogue was so detailed and realistic, from Jordan's shock witness of Noah's and Sebastians kiss; Noah's inner turmoil, and his later reveal of his sexuality to Jenn and then on to Jordan's duplicitous discussion of his second "girlfriend" to Aiden. If any line of questioning was missing from those dialogues, then I failed to miss it. One heck of an emotional roller coaster ride for Noah, Jordan and Jenn. Loved the smattering of humour injected by the latter. Noah certainly has a bedrock of a best friend in Jenn and you can see she is going to love grilling Noah on all his future romantic escapades. Who else would offer to give up their boyfriend for a friend? The only surprise for me, was that Jenn said she never suspected that Noah was gay. In a much earlier chapter, she asked Noah: "you really like Jordon, don't you?" That is not what you would normally ask one straight male about another. Anyhow Jenn again picks up the same line of questioning here, so she knows more than she's letting on now. Didn't miss Sebastian's underhanded attempt to denigrate Jordan when Noah was shocked at him running away. He really is cunning, by nature. Its such a well written story Ethan. Couldn't be better.

Great share. Played this loads on Spotify.

And I love the bad guys in your stories too. It's the lessons learnt and the twists and turns that make it interesting. I've read a lot more of your stories here before I got around to setting up an account and started commenting. Love them all.

@Black Paper you do realise that you may be asking me to stick my head above the parapet here? I'm not going to defend my answer beyond saying it is purely a matter of subjective taste. I really share @Timothy M. response in chapter 1. "He finally meets someone he likes - and he has sex with Joey while thinking of Colin. What an idiot ! I lost all respect and interest right there. And it seemed so promising a story." If you read my chapter 1 response I explain why I continued. Comicality is easily my most read author on this site and I love that his stories and characters are varied and challenging. That said, I know that I tend to err more on the side of loyalty than most. So Russ's sustained misuse of Joey while he professed to "love" Colin, prevented me empathising with Russ any further. I'm Glad that everyone else is enjoying it.

It's a great effortless read Ethan. All the characters are acting naturally and in tune for what they know and are expected to feel, at any given point in time. I really appreciate the pace of the story. Once I learned that Sebastian had taken Noah in the bedroom I was unnerved that Sebastian would cause events to race ahead quickly. I want Jordan to have a chance to become aware of Noahs misinformation and have a chance to correct it before any lasting damage was done. I'm pleased that you have still left us with that hope, at this stage, however it turns out. What a pity that Jordan wasn't able to give due thanks to Noah for the most thoughtful of birthday gifts. Just another moment that Sebastian stole from them. Jenn's such a good friend for sharing Noah's upset with Jordon. It even ruined her date and she didn't complain. Apart from Sebastian's initial deception, he is acting like the perfect friend and date for Noah. That first big lie was enough and it's easy to see why Noah is now fully immersed in this relationship. Noah needs to talk to Jordan to uncover Sebastians lie. The problem will be if Sebastian is there when they talk as he will steer them away from him being revealed. Great story that just keeps rolling on. Love it.

Sebastian turned out a lot more machiavellian than I first thought. Not one to stop at plying drink he is fully into mind games. Plus he has read and knows Noah and Jordan way better than they know themselves. This is like taking candy off a baby, to Sebastian. It could be ages before Noah and Jordan realise they've been had, assuming that they develop the art of true personal conversation. I would imagine Sebastian and Noah are at the kissing stage though Sebastian will surely be trying to get a feel of everything he can. I think this could drive Jordan into the arms of Jenn for the foreseeable future. Then let's see how long it takes Sebastian to get bored with Noah. I doubt that Sebastian will be one to leave anything of Noah's virginity to be claimed by his true soul mate: Jordan. Sebastian deserves the absolute worst, for this.
-
I can't help thinking that Sebastian has lured Noah into a trap. There may or may not be a surprise party waiting at Sebastians place. But if there is, Sebastian certainly will have no compunction about disarming Noah with drink or drugs. Re the possible couples in that final scene they could be any of: Noah, Jordan, Sebastian or Jenn. Those final thoughts are of two people standing up where (1) the male lowers their head to kiss the subjects neck so is not shorter than the subject (2) The subject seems timid having their chin lifted (ruling out Sebastian and Jordan and possibly Jenn as the subject) (3) The male also says he has wanted this for so long which makes the male Sebastian). It has to be Noah dreaming about Sebastian who has known about him for two years, just professed he's gay and indicated that he suspects Noah is too. That would certainly bring on a dream like that.

Great, the stories back up full and running again after a hiatus that was slow to move. Is that fireball something that Aiden owns or is he a conduit for what Ethan can see telepathically? Fascinating! Glad Gaelen came to join the party. He didn't owe his previous Rogue owners any loyalty and could obviously see this pack was actively home to all, including Solaris. The battle for the packs captives has begun.

This is such a great feel good story. Loving the the relaxed, slow reveal of Noah, Jordan and Jenn's deeper thoughts and feelings. Noah having mistakenly sat in on another boys birthday party and thinking that everyone ignoring him was fairly normal, was hilarious, poor lad. Noah is beginning to recognise a side of him that he has managed to suppress and forget before the advent of Jordan. He clearly wants to deny this part of himself, as he needs Jordan's friendship and is convinced that he would lose that, if Jordan became aware of Noahs genuine feelings for him. I'm curious about Jenn. I think she suspects her best friend maybe Bi, at the very least. Why would she say to Noah: you're really keen on Jordan, aren't you? Sebastian is a player. I think we've all picked that up. Fabulous story Ethan, a perfect read so far.

I've no problems with the pace of this story. The charm of this story is in the dance. I like how Noah may be socially awkward in groups. But one would be very much mistaken to think he didn't have the wit and the confidence to put you in your place. As when he tells the unfortunate Jordan: You’d slow us down, then we would be forced to ditch you. I wouldn’t ditch you, of course, no, that would be Jenn. She’s not as compassionate as me. Then you would get lost, chased by a pack of wolves. It wouldn’t end well.” And i thought it was priceless to chuck Jordans own paper ball at the back of the students head, in front, and then looked shocked at Jorden and to finish off labelling him: "Amateur". Game, set and match to Noah. Jordan has definitely found a perfect match for his mischievous nature. Moving on, for Sebastian to remember Noah from a huge Politics class from 2 years ago he must have a serious itch that needs scratching. Sebastian hasn't got the wit or the intellect to sustain Noah's interest but he is a physically ovepowering threat. Noah needs to be aware that one night Jordan won't be able to make it and Noah will be too polite to avoid Sebastian forcing him into something he definitely wont want. Just keeps delivering Ethan!
-
It's effortless dialogue to read. Sebastian is definitely not a homophobe. He saw Noah staring at him at the volleyball match and now knows he thought he played great. A homophobe would not have reacted well to Noah in those circumstances. Jenn's reaction to being stood up a second time is priceless. Only truly great friends could be comfortable with verbally abusing and being verbally abused that way and and know they are forgiven, sort of. Jenna certainly has Jordan on her radar, so there are interesting times ahead for all three. Jordan is interested in Jenn too as Noah's perceived girlfriend and may be more, if he finds out that Noah and Jenn are just friends and that she is a free agent? Its all so delicately poised and so brilliantly written.
-
Boy do I love these characters and this storyline. Smart, chilled, affable, considerate and fun. Noah and Jenn are good mates and Noah despite having had a girlfriend is comfortable knowing that he finds Jordan facially attractive, at least. Jordan is trying to make sense of why he is feeling so comfortable around Noah and not just for macho stuff like he does with John and Caleb. He senses that Noah is someone he can relate to beyond the superficial, so he's way past missing Kate for that alone. Great story Ethan. We have been immediately thrown in to see how these two are react and develop towards eachother. I'm totally hooked.
-
Smooth intro to all the characters. All the info about courses etc just happened in the background while we were fascinated with the dialogue. Kates history already. Eager to see what Jordan makes of Noah, the former nerd.

I think Jean Pierre wishes he could wash his hands of this disaster brought about by his former Beta. The thought must have crossed his mind to eradicate all trace of the hostages and deny having ever been involved. That would be the final choice. He would have liked to have integrated Aiden into his ranks but that isnt a possibility, and he can't negotiate a truce and a return of prisoners without losing face to the Rogues. So maybe the final solution is all that's left.
-
Well someone certainly likes their sci-fi. Luckily for Aiden, he does too. It's certainly piquing Jean Pierre's interest and is gaining Aidens crew favourable treatment, as well as valuable time. Michael's demise is almost fully realised. The Rogue leader is talking to Aiden almost as an equal, full of admiration for the qualities he possesses while he gets his bitch to be silent and heel. It will be a kindness to have him put down, at the end. The question is, after the initial disastrous outcome for the Rogues, how can they possibly turn this around and escape without retribution. The only possibility I can see is if they learn about the elemental and the market value and use Aiden to get Ethan to give himself up. They will need to discover a device that can subdue Ethan at will. Very intesting.
-
It's bad news for Aiden and Bill taken hostage but surely the Rogues will consider this mission a failure given that they didn't capture the Alpha or Ethan. I suppose that the Alphas home being ransacked may have offered up secret information about their assets or accounts that could be stolen. What will the Rogues do to Aiden? Well they need to decide quick because there is one pissed off elemental looking for his mate. 👹

Thank you for trapping me in that box and sharing I can't help feeling that I worked overtime to prove the obvious?

What a Christmas surprise for Rory as he gets to unwrap Clint from the box. I don't think I'm going too far out on a limb to suggest that Benoit had contrived this possibility. He's known Clint for years and must know that he had a previous boyfriend. He would also know that Clint's demeanour, for the past few weeks, could likely be due to the breakup of his sixth month, one and only, girlfriend. Benoit also told Rory as he was leaving, that whatever Clints problem, he doubted that it would have anything to do with him being a homophobe. Of course Rory would not know anything Clint except for his girlfriend, having only been there 4 months. It all goes to show how easy misunderstandings can occur when we don't speak to one another. We are all guilty of filling in the gaps in people lives with whatever suits our current whims. The threat to sack Clint was probably calculated to help break the ice in Rory's heart after his outrage in the cafe. Of course, I'm not saying that Benoit planned for Clint and Rory to get all close up and hugging eachother naked in a cardboard box, in order to survive. But he must be pleased that his two hardest working employees have every reason to want to keep working together for him for years to come. Great tale Gary, starting with enough unknowns to turn the lives of Rory and Clint on their heads. A Christmas day in a hot log cabin. Any takers?
