Good on Jay, again, I wish I has his courage. Guess being popular with lots of friends helps. Not sure if she knows, but being so caught up in self image, wonder how well things will go down with the sister when she discovers he's gay. Really getting into this, thanks in advance for what looks to be a good read.

Heard about this so thought I'd check it out. That was short and sweet but I liked very much. Can really relate to this as I'm going through something like it right now. Difference is I lack Jays courage and having rebuffed my secret crush, we haven't spoken for going on two months now and I don't know how to fix what I broke.Perhaps fate has led me here and I will get some inspiration from your story.

Another beautiful story from you Ivor. I'm so glad they took a chance and decided to meet on the walkway that day. I loved the way they explored together and discovered new things about each other. I think they fit perfectly together, which is the key ingredient in any love story. I'm left with a very warm feeling having shared part of their journey together. Thanks again for another great story and for the picture too, simply perfect.

I was always a bit worried about the boyfriend, I was fearful that he might have become physically abusive. As it is, he kicked Julian out of his own home and the mother went along with it. I expected his reaction, but since she had already accepted Julians' sexuality, her betrayal was doubly cruel. Well Julian is much better off, glad he's moved in with lance though I wish it hadn't been under these circumstances. Least he still has Becky and keeps in touch with her and Lances' parents were absolutely brilliant in accepting and welcoming him. Oh, almost forgot. most important of all, it's official...they LOVE each other. Awesome chapter.
-
I'm glad Becky gave her seal of approval. I was a bit worried about Julian what with the mothers' homophobe boyfriend being around, but now having seen how protective Becky is of her little brother I feel a lot better, though I would still be wary of the guy. The boys are continuing to explore different aspects of their relationship. I am pleased though that Lance put his foot down and decided not to use the martinet this weekend, something he was never entirely comfortable about. When you care about someone, sometimes it's hard to say no, you always want to please even at the cost of your own feelings. A proper relationship has to take into account the feelings of both sides. Lance being the older more experienced shouldn't be afraid to set some boundaries. I wonder when he'll finally get round to dropping the L word?

Yup awesome chapter. Took a while ( nearly the whole book ), but I've finally joined Aidens' camp. Shaky start but I'm a softy and can easily forgive. Aiden and Tyler leading the resistance, who'd have thought. But then perhaps people underestimating them will be their biggest strength. Tyler has proven his toughness after the shower room beating and Aiden has real smarts when he cuts through all the bs and applies himself, e.g. the recording. So yes, I think H can enjoy his little victory for now while the board is reset for s new game.

Getting to know all about you
Goodie commented on Ivor Slipper's story chapter in Getting to know all about you
Lovely little story so far. Lance continues to show patience and consideration. I'm actually surprised that our seemingly innocent little Julian is doing most of the initiating. It's probably a good sign that he's found in Lance someone who's caring and trustworthy enough to want to explore his fantasies with. I can see that lance feels some genuine love for Julian, don't think Julian is quite there yet,it seems more of a novelty atm. More time together so they can properly identify their feelings will hopefully bring them closer together. Oddly enough, if things don't work out, I'm actually more concerned for Lance, he seems to be investing more emotion into this. -
Cool start. I'm looking forward to reading more about these two. I think Julian finds something extra special in Lance, his selfless consideration for wanting to please Julian and allow him to work within his own comfort zone. Lance is already showing a caring and respectful attitude. I worry about the mothers boyfriend and expect all kinds of dramas from that quarter. We will have to see what happens next.

Brilliant story with a perfect ending. Everything was finally revealed with your surprise twist. Now I feel sad for Zombo knowing he was the product of an accidental side effect to what was supposed to be a mission of mercy to save mankind. One thing I know for sure, after the two years they just went through, our young heroes will be better prepared in the new world, I can't see them just going back to school and doing "normal", they.ve learnt more than any textbook could teach and now with the alien visitors there will be better and newer opportunities. So thanks for the read, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Awesome chapter. We were building to this climactic moment for some time and having finally arrived it didn't dissappoint. Huge relief the zombie threat has finally been dealt with. I'm glad the thing is finally gone, though we are no closer to knowing anything about them. Hopefully it will be some time if ever before they have to worry about encountering another. I wasn't surprised by Richies feelings of remorse and compassion, he made his feelings known pretty much throughout. Now that Zombo is no longer a threat, we can afford it some respect and admiration, it was a worthy foe, unfortunately only one side could ever walk away from this and I'm glad it was the kids.

Well we've always known this thing was intelligent and unpredictable yet we are still surprised with what it comes up with next. I'm wondering if this were a serious challenge and they all came out to face him, all those guns and your target standing there just asking for it. The more this thing proves its' smarts, the less faith I have in the barn plan. Of course, it's easy to sit here and suggest they go out and face the thing. The very least they could come up with a cool dance in reply. Finally, the thing has no modesty, can weave a mat to carry stones but didn't think to weave a grass kilt or somesuch, maybe mom can knit him something. In the fashion inferno, Armani suit 0 - brandless undies 1.

As we draw closer to the grand finale, it was nice to take a moments pause to reflect on the thoughts and misgivings of the rest of the group. It's easy to forget these are just kids who've lost so much living in an uncertain future. That is, until you see Marnie thinking she may never get to share her life with anyone, little Tina feeling for her .357 reassuringly, even the Tommy gun toting Mike expressing his regret at the need to kill the zombie. The world they knew may be over, no more you-tube for Bennie, but if you wanted to restart civilization and needed a core group to do it, you'd be hard pressed to find ideal candidates such as these. The zombies days may be numbered, but I'm confident our group will thrive. And yes, even quiet mom will have a role to play, Tina will make sure of that.

ok so the planes back....not much help really, just more of a distraction. Focus on killing zombie then deal with mystery flying machine. There was some talk about radios etc., I know nothing about that sort of thing and doubt very much that Jack taught these kids else theyd have them by now.Notice they have and deal with things they know, if they don't know they tend not to bother with as being high on their survivor list. e.g. don't see them looking for books on planes, radios, building zombie traps, etc. in the library.....it's sci-fi, home improvements, just stuff to pass the time and relax. Besides, by the way that thing shot off into the skies suggests to me they don't want to make contact.

I was going to say mannequins wouldn't fool a zombie, then I was reminded of how zombies used a mannequin to lure Will Smith into a trap in I am Legend. Those Zs were fast, strong and sneaky smart. Curiousity factor may be enough to get it where it can see the boys and go after the real targets. Another thought I had when witnessing Richie and Jeremy's tender moments together, is how lucky they were to find and still have each other. None of the others had anyone else, not even siblings who could have survived with them? Also noticed no more plane sightings atm......that's still a mystery as much as everything else. 5 more chapters to find the answers.

I think it's a well thought out plan. The main thing being they are doing something which is better than nothing. Of course, we all want it to succeed, but even if it doesn't, we just go back to the drawing board and plan something else. Afterall, this is just one zombie, theres now a good chance they may see another someday. And what's wrong with talking to your gun, I talk to my car. It's a cheap el crappo that gets me from A to B with some gentle encouragement and a little TLC, be lost without it. Haven't named tho. Lastly, don't read Unbeaten first, tiny little spoiler in there lol.

Ok so it wasn't a one off and the planes are becoming a regular but recent feature. As mentioned before definitely some kind of structured organisation behind all that aerial activity. However, more important things to deal with. The early morning sneak visit from the zombie only reinforces the need to kill it, their best defense mechanism is now redundant, clever zombie won't try that again. I can't think of another way in, but then I'm not a super zombie. Of course if it were a patient beast it could just wait....they'd come out eventually. Can't remember who/when/why but someone mentioned a naked zombie...don't know why anyone would wish for that, but here you go. It's cries of pain and anguish are still giving Richie some pause. I was critical of this earlier, but now it occurs to me, that after everything they've been through and the horrors in their lives, the fact he can still show some compassion reflects more on the quality of his character. Unlike young Tina who may have lost enough of her innocense to become hardened to this new life, "It burns well, anyway". It still needs to die though and Richie can feel sorry for it afterwards.
-
Some interesting speculation about the plane. We can only wait and see if anymore appear. This was the first sighting in some two odd years so not a regular flight path. The group is doing well for themselves and rightly ought to be wary of others. My biggest motivator for contacting anyone else would be to see if they knew any more about what was goung on Other than that, leave well enough alone.

It must have been really difficult for them to make the road trip back to Mitersville, but a necessary and worthwhile expedition, especially having now spotted possibly a jet in the sky. One thing I found quite moving was how they were maintaining their own homes where their families remains are and treating them as mausoleums. Just hit me how sudden it was to wake up one day and find your whole world changed and to have that moment frozen in time as a constant reminder of what was lost, really sad. No time for sentiment...theres a zombie to bow up.
-
Wow lot of interesting speculation about the zombie. I did find it odd that Richie would question whether anyone had an qualms about killing it.I want to kill it and I'm not there being threatened by it. I really couldn't imagine any of the others being anxious or having doubts about killing this thing before it kills them, regardless of what it once was. Imagine a general asking his troops if they want to stop the war because the enemy are people too with families, etc. I mean yeah it would be nice, but in this instance introducing any kind of doubt or second guessing is too dangerous when dealing with something like this...shoot first ask questions later. In fact, don't even ask....kill em all. Now if you're one of these authors who turns the bad guy into a good guy, I will come back and eat my words later.

That was too close for comfort. Sherry was indeed very brave and helped save the day. One thing Marnie said though about how her actions could have put them in danger, now had the zombie been intelligent enough to have thought to use the boys to draw the others out, that would have been even more terrifying. Things worked out this time.....unfortunately the zombie too has learnt from this. The damn thing is so fast you'd need to trap it somehow so you could deal to it, being so intelligent that wouldn't be easy to do but it's something I'd try.
-
Awesome chapter. Exciting and scary. Really didn't expect the zombie to start making spears out of trees and throwing them at the camp. I need to stop underestimating your zombies. I was hoping the boys wouldn't just come racing back, guess when your loved ones are in danger all the training goes out the window. Marnie makes a good co-leader, she was cool under pressure and kept everyone on point.

Great chapter, thoroughly enjoying this story. I agree with pretty much all the comments, only thing I have to add is I like that they are being careful to only take what they need to make things last longer. Things will eventually run out meaning they may have to go further afield to forage increasing the dangers of venturing into unknown territory. Also being too far from camp would not be ideal as we've suddenly been shown at the end. Hopefully they will be just as cautious and not go racing blindly into potentially unknown danger.

Yessss, I was having DJ withdrawal so thanks for the fix, this was a great chapter. Great to see the cousins settling in. The more I hear from them about their supposed mother, the more I dislike that woman. Thankfully their new mom and dad can give them plenty of the love and affection they seem to have missed. I'm really loving Ramous too, he continues to amaze with his loving and accepting attitude. Glad he saved the rest of DJs family and is making them his own. Even starting to warm to Darra. I'm beginning to see now that before she was just in a difficult situation trying to raise three children on her own, I guess she did what she could. At least now she has the chance and means to concentrate on being more of a mom for Rod and Cam and it's showing her in a much better light. The naked pool party looked like fun. So good to see everyone happy and comfortable with each other, even Devon and Quentin eventually. Thanks again Doug for the new chapter, looking forward to more fun and adventures with our NC family.

Wow what a chapter. I hardly even got to know Jack but I felt his loss. The fact he sacrificed himself to save the boys made his death that much more meaningful. Having heard what the zombies are supposed to be like, but actually seeing one up close and in full frenzy, makes the damn things even scarier. Maybe zombie just passing by and didn't hear them till they made there way out the back. It was certainly intelligent enough to switch strategies and go around after failing getting in back.In any case, they are going to make life very challenging. At least Jack had a chance to impart some valuable survival skills onto the group which may help Richie keep his promise for a little while at least.

Goodness, think it took longer to read the comments than the chapter. Was a lot of fun tho, same old instigators, small world. To business. Unashamed "Walking Dead" fan, though honestly never thought to look up a zombie story on GA. Was pointed this way and glad I stopped by. Been mentioned already, but the super zombie aspect makes this something more than your typical zombie story. You claim not to be a zombie guy so well done on creating something quite special and unique. If I were watching that opening scene at the movies, that would have been damn scary. As for the good guys, you've brought together an interesting band, given us brief glimpses into their new world, enough to whet the appetite.Looking really good.
