This is most likely me reading too much into this but I'm thinking that might be part of what you are thinking in a possible follow up story.Reed grew up with the Anderson clan and to put it in a charitable way the Anderson are known to have character flaws .Since Reed grew up with that it sound like the way you put that this was a calculated move by Reed(Not that I would blame him BTW).Just a guess by a reader who thinks too much😄 While I'm at it here is a fantasy scene I would like to see.Perhaps Donny Anderson will be ticked that Andy and Zander are trying to take care of Reed and shows up to confront them.In the previous years Andy has learned how to defend himself with Zander and possibly Ambrose and Toby showing him some stuff.Donny will go to far and then Andy decks him.If you think Andy too much of a gentle soul to do that you can have Zander or Toby do it 😄Like I said a fantasy scene but hey if you want to use a variation of that go for it😄

It must be very difficult for Mike and Carol to get a mechanic otherwise why put up with all the BS Jack does apparently not just to Devlin but to the rest and since Billy seems to pal around with Jack is he an ass also? There hasn't been any description of Angela in regard to her age unless I missed it.If she's on the younger side could she be into Devlin?If so then how will she react if and when she finds out Devlin is gay? If Angela is on the older side then perhaps she has a motherly instinct toward Devlin and is trying to protect him from Jack.This situation just cannot go on status quo. If Jack gets fired then you can absolutely see Jack doing something to retaliate

The only explanation Chase could have is he was threaten himself if he didn't go along.As far Mattie not saying anything he either has serious trust issues with adults even his parents or there's a undisclosed reason nobody knows about

Besides from the obvious there are some red flags here. The want ad notice was a couple of months old yet there was a position open for Devlin could that be because the mechanic is an ass? And why was Carol frowning at the end of the chapter? Devin is not wearing a rainbow flag patch or something is he?And if they do find out Devin's gay with that small group could that be a problem? I'm not familiar with this kind of place what's the purpose of it? This place was described as a quite a ways away so that would mean if Marc ,Brady, or Kyle are looking for Devlin it just became that much harder to find him. I keep thinking about the title of the story and that tells me this place isn't going to work out for Devin especially with that a-hole mechanic I can see panic attacks happening here. If Marc or the others manage to track him down here he most likely will be already gone to God knows where
