One of the reasons 'C' wing doesn't have a lot of transfers out, except when the Weyrleader promotes them to his own Wing.

These articles are so helpful. I went to school at a time when the teaching of grammar was seen as unnecessary, so generally work out what is the correct usage based on what sounds right.

It's good to know one human has had some influence over the fate of all the others on Earth. How right Horacio was to say humans in power are fickle and two-faced. This was a really unusual and interesting story. Mind you, I quite like the idea of the mail order husband who can't be returned as well.

Nice to read about a genuinely alien alien species rather than something very humanoid but with green skin or whatever. It was interesting to find out Symmie's somewhat depressing view of the way Earth societies are run.

First chapter really hooked me. It's a unique (yet somehow believable) take on a future society. Really want to find out what sort of job Jared has signed up for, although judging by the respect given to him by the taxi driver it must be something fairly rare and special.

Many weyrwomen come from Holds rather than being weyrbred. I doubt she'll get on any better with Mardra than Zalna did. Mardra dislikes most other weyrwomen on principle.

Whether it's a gold or a green flight, the female dragons have quite a lot of say in who catches them, unless taken by surprise. Also, S'brin wanting D'gar to win would have a certain amount of influence on his dragon. Now Zemianth's mated a few times, he'll be able to stay slightly more detached from the proceedings.

Some are easier than others. As well as Thread, there's the weather to take into account. Low cloud and wind are the worst conditions - that kind of Fall will result in a lot of injuries or deaths.

Pinnacle Hold was a long way from anywhere, lying on the eastern edge of Bitra, in the foothills of the Benden range. It had been built of the same grey rock as the mountains and huddled against the side of the pointed crag that had given the place its name. A few rooms nestled just within the thick outer walls, but most of the living accommodation had been enlarged from natural caverns deep inside the rock. Even when the shutters were opened wide on summer days, it was always gloomy inside.

Jevikel is the eldest son of a Holder, living at an isolated farmhold on the eastern edge of Bitra. Duty has been drummed into him from birth; he must follow in his father’s footsteps by marrying and raising a family who will do exactly the same in their turn. But when his cousin Kadin arrives at the Hold, he realises he can’t hide his secret feelings any longer.

She didn't really deal much with that side of things as her characters tended to be older. However, there is quite a lot about weyrlings, training and graduating into a Wing in 'The Dragonlover's Guide to Pern' which isn't regarded as totally canon, but was approved by Anne.

Todd sometimes seemed to have totally disregarded some of his mother's canon, which I found odd, considering he would have had access to all of Anne's notes. Plus he can't write characters as well as she did.

That's right. There are a few examples of people who have lost dragons in the books. Lytol (Jaxom's guardian) has probably coped best. Kylara loses her mind after losing Prideth. Pern as a society doesn’t really offer much help to people suffering from PTSD. That's one of the reasons why, in my take on the world, a lot of dragonriders have alcohol problems.

You will find a certain degree of spoilers in the comments, mainly because I wrote 'Gone Away, Gone Ahead' - the Ninth Pass story - first, then wrote this prequel set in the Eighth Pass.
