James Matthews writes teenage angst and emotional swings so well. Puppy goes through a ton more experiences, both good and bad, in this story as he puts Greenstone behind him and gradually finds his place in the outside world. All of the characters, both major and minor, are well drawn and have believable motives and emotions. A good read, that will leave you wanting more.

There is still a long way to go for all of these characters and I certainly wouldn't object if there was a Puppy 3. Puppy has definitely come a long way since Greenstone and it's good to see Cindy is adapting to the world outside as well. Not sure what will happen with Puppy and Steven. I feel like there is going to be a rocky ride as he is conflicted about his feelings for Hunter and Steven and struggles to resolve them. Nice work.

Oh yes, definitely. He sees D'gar as having had unfair advantages.

There are a few more chapters yet (I can never tell exactly how many gas sometimes they get too long and I need to split them into two). Well over two thirds of the story is done at this point.

They're both being given the same opportunity, even though R'feem has his doubts about M'rell. In all fairness, he's still grieving after Rina. From M'rell's point of view the resentment has to be partly from the fact that he Impressed from the previous clutch, also joined the wing before D'gar, so he thinks he has seniority.

Well, at least we know where Aiden's bullying is coming from. Can’t help thinking things will be worse at work after the kiss. Mr Buchan seems like one of those old fashioned, unreasonable bosses. Yes, if there was a train every ten minutes, then getting to the station earlier would solve the problem of one being cancelled, but when the line is closed no one could be expected to get in on time. It would be the same if Nathan drove to work and there was an accident causing a gridlock. The first time was admittedly his own fault, but it's not as if he's been in the habit of being late before. Both Nathan and Jason need to communicate.

We're about to find out why Dean is so homophobic. The fact he's concerned Jack might suddenly attack Joey is pointing towards him having something like that happen when he was fourteen. Jack's dad is despicable; the worst sort of drunk. Bet no one in the pub has any idea what he's like when he gets home after a night out drinking. Also, like a lot of abusive characters, he's probably very good at saying sorry and promising it will never happen again, until next time. This story evokes the angst of being a teenager, when you suddenly start to find out other people's parents aren't as kind, or responsible as they should be and your view of the world begins to shift.

He's really beginning to develop the good sense and leadership skills he demonstrates in 'Gone Away, Gone Ahead'.

Still a little way to go yet!

‘So D’gar ended up in the infirmary for nearly two days and Z’los had to lend us riders,’ S’brin continued. He was making sure Zalna got all the details about the aftermath of the flight. ‘Then, best of all, one of ‘em liked it so much in “C” Wing, he asked for a transfer.’ ‘Bet Z’los wasn’t pleased about that,’ she said. ‘He didn’t want to grant it but the Weyrleader stepped in and told him he had to. There’s no love lost between those two.’ S’brin laughed. ‘That showed him.’ It

Great to see a sequel to 'Sidewinder'.

I keep wanting to kick one or the other of them (or both) and just yell, ‘say something.’ Yes, I understand reluctance and uncertainty in this kind of situation, but Nathan is giving Jason plenty of opportunities. And he really needs to come clean about the harassment at work. Aiden in a nasty character and it may well be Jason isn't the only employee he's bullying.

It’s a fictional Green Dragon in this case, although there are quite a few pubs by that name around the country. Ashbourne is well worth a visit as it is considered the gateway to the Peak District and as you've found out, has quite a history and is also a charming town (except for the traffic). While in the area, you might also like to see Tutbury castle, where Mary, Queen of Scots was imprisoned, go horse racing at Uttoxeter or visit the weird and wonderful gardens of Biddulph Grange - shortly to feature in another story.

This is just one of 7 stories I've written for Dragonriders of Pern. You might want to check out the others, too.

Jerry's a survivor. He's probably got a few other 'homes' in the street where he goes for food and attention when Craig's not around. Plus he has Madge. we used to have an old style hardware shop in the next village until the elderly couple who ran it retired. There are still a few around as not everyone likes the diy superstores. Shrovetide football is a real experience. I’ve been a couple of times to 'watch' but it can suddenly move very fast heading straight for you. One time I had to climb over a barbed wire fence to avoid being trampled, another to hang on to a branch over the river!

Morris dancing is more of a summer tradition. In Derbyshire we also have a tradition called well dressings, a left over from the days when people believed water deities should be thanked for providing a village with fresh water. Wooden boards are covered in clay and designs pressed into it using flowers, fruit, seeds etc. they are then displayed over a weekend in the summer months to raise money for charities. I remember being scared silly by 'The Wicker Man'. There are some places in the UK where you really get the feeling something ancient is hiding away and may be observing you.

You'll find out more about Archie in later chapters. The pub scene was typical of an English village pub, where most people know each other and dogs are allowed. In my village all the old pubs are like this and the newer, posher one tends to cater to people from outside the village or from the new houses.

The cottage looked as cosy as ever, with light spilling out from the windows and reflecting off the puddles in the yard. The weather had returned to normal for winter in England; damp and dreary, muddy and unkempt. James must have heard his car, for he met Craig at the door with a ready hug and ushered him inside. Just stepping into the kitchen was like shrugging off the past week as if it were a piece of clothing that had become too tight and uncomfortable. James had obviously been cooking agai

There’s bad news and there’s news that leaves you so stunned all you can do is sit there, not knowing what to do next. I'd thought I was pretty good at dealing with the crap life can throw at you. I’d got through the toxic breakup with Joe just over a year ago and re-organised my life. I’d coped with redundancy, two years before and was just beginning to see my own IT consultancy taking off. I’d moved house, after we’d sold up and divided the profits. If you Google the most stressful life events

“Drama seems to follow you like flies around shit." Never a truer word. And consequences have followed. I wonder if this will be enough to get Puppy back on the rails, or will he go through a teenage rebellion phase.
-
Puppy had to know it wasn't a good idea to go along with that and although he's naïve, there has to be a time common sense tells you things aren't right. Hunter redeemed himself by taking care of Puppy, but there are going to be consequences.

The healers, while restricted in what they can do due to losing technology, still have records enabling them to diagnose quite a few conditions. Given the rough and tumble of Weyr life, concussion probably isn't that uncommon.
