No you did not go there @Lupus...Poor Marl(RIP)...he never stood a chance ...but then to have Zdain fall into Renn's scheme was just so hard to read..I.do not even want to think about that..Our Zdain has no chance against Renn judging by the last scene in the lake and the one of this chapter. I have read despicable characters....but Renn Tauganei is just among the worst...there is nothing redeemable about that fella. His zeal for service of the dark is scary....I swear am going to sue if you dare let Zdain succumb to that monster.....in fact have given my attorney a head up😂😂😂...File a suit for emotional torture and hope dashing😂😂 That being said this chapter just raised the stakes, no one is safe in this fight against evil ...even our big heroes. I especially like the symbolism at the end when Blake does not put his hat on and instead holds it's to his chest...It was indeed like @CasualWanderer82 portrayed it. ...it felt like that moment when one is about to receive holy communion in church...

I mentioned in my previous chapter comment that it was an episode of unraveling. I feel this chapter is like a foundation of what happens in the previous chapter.. We get a brief glimpse of Alexander's insecurity and his longing to be solely seen by Lyn when he asks him if Lyn always defends everyone.. I felt sad reading that scene because it was a testament of Alexander's longing for Lyn. Here is a bloke who has yearned for his friend to notice how he feels about him and feels elated that Lyn stood up for him even though it was not warranted. In that moment Alexander feels like he has finally got his wish of having Lyn's attention and affection solely fixed on him. only to have his hopes dashed when his object of affection passes of the moment as simply being his usual altruistic self..It was crushing to read that to be honest.

I have waited 13 chapters and a few weeks give or take to get to Jacks and Cash finally consummating their relationship...and my God was it worth the wait.🤩..I am reading this chapter on a loop. Reading the first part of this chapter was like literally being at an orchestra performance....Each line hitting a part of me😂...and by the time they came from their orgasmic bliss it was like hearing a symphony come to a close!.. So beautiful words cannot describe. Not to be outdone, you have us 'watch' the unflappable Blake witness our two fellas in Holy Coitus and even he could not help but be awed by the sight...that scene made a believer outta Blake. You have made me come undone @CasualWanderer82😂😂🤣..... Today I realised that I have mostly put so much stock into Daisy, Jackson, Cash, Blake and the others....and neglected one of the most complex and well written characters in this story....Colton!....There are times when you come across a character who is in equal measures detestable and yet so pitiful. I do not know whatever happened to Colton to make him turn up like that.. Maybe @Cane23....and the Big man himself @CasualWanderer82😉 can help. Thank you!

Is it possible for someone to get worse from moment to moment?..Matteo is just becoming something else each chapter!...Even Izzy called him out for it.. Someone in the previous chapter comments said he needs psychological help urgently...but I think he is beyond help. The behaviour in this chapter is something scary!....Like what kind of delusion is that....does he think when he is done Jace will come back to him?..Jace and Noah might be done...but even Jace would not be that stupid to get with someone as crazy and spiteful as Matteo...

That is what I meant ...he is always inventing ways to have his way!

You had this planned out from the go😂...this makes it even sadder....Father pitted against son because technically Hugo and Billy are so..father and son I mean. It reminds me of a movie that came out years ago.. The Hunted...Tommy Lee Jones's character trained Benicio del Toro's character and treated him like a son...and years later he has to bring him down...Reading this chapter was sort of foreboding ..like Hugo having to bring down Billy in the future..

I hope not...it would be a double tragedy...

This chapter drives the point home..when it comes to war, victory is bitter sweet. Dottie was vanquished sure, but in the process Hugo has lost himself. The compassionate and empathetic part of him is probably lost forever .He has lost Billy, who might probably become his enemy in the future. Basically when you come to think about it...Hugo has lost.
