Headstall - the king of the old west. Reading this story makes me want to revisit Larkspur. Once again the author manages to transport the reader to a different time, a different world, with the exact same feelings and hardships we sometimes face today. Two men who share the same feelings finally manage to talk. In the end, is there anything better than open communication? Certainly not if the outcome is either a story like this, or a development like in this story. Thank you Headstall, your stories are always appreciated a lot.

Funny. Compelling. Deep. Awesome. Laura S. Fox at her best. You need to read this book. No matter if you’re into shifter stories or not. Please read it. It’s worth it. So much. She’ll take you on an adventure that isn’t just shifter, that isn’t just about city vs countryside. It is about love, and how to get there.

Another great story from @Headstall. From the first line, you feel like you know these characters and are involved in their lives. They come alive with their dedication, with their flaws, bust most importantly, with their love for each other. They are as lifelike and realistic as can be, just as one would expect from a story by this author. Once again, he manages to captivate me and made me lose a few hours of sleep because I couldn't stop reading. I can't recommend this story enough, it is at least on par with his former stories. Simply put, in my opinions there is no better author when it comes to tales of the Old West in this website! Thank you Gary!

If novels dealing with sci-fi, time travel, romance or wars are your thing, you need to read this book. If none of the four mentioned genres are your typical read, you should read this story nonetheless. I’ve rarely come across a story so multifaceted as this one is, so we’ll written or so immersive that it sweeps you off your feet from start to end. dkstories captivated me from the first chapter, and took me for a wild ride that was worth every single minute spent in his world. Davey, the main protagonist, gets transported back into his youth, and while he’s actually a thirty-something, he’s reliving his teenage years, trying to fly under the radar and not give away the fact that his mental age differs widely from his physical age. In trying to keep his family away from things that happened before, or will happen from his current point of view, he sets events in motion that he can’t stop once they are under way. Thank you for this book, dkstories. I can see myself rereading this book in the future.

Wow what an enjoyable reading experience. The characters, the suspense, the science, the images it conjured up in my head. I’ve had a hard time not to stay up and read it all in one go last night! I highly recommend giving this story a chance to immerse you in its world. You won’t regret it if you enjoy sci-fi and a bit of romance.

Stepping Through the Mirror
Pascal reviewed Headstall's story in 2016 - Winter - Rewind: Pre-2016 Themes
I am usually not a big fan of short stories, but for some very special authors I make an exception here and there. This was one of those, and it turned out to be a very good decision. We get a glimpse of Blake’s every day life, which isn’t bad in any way, he just has to live in some very big shadows. Right after that glimpse, we have the chance to follow him on a very special evening. At least a very special evening for him. That sadly doesn’t mean his family sees it the same way, for them, there are more important things they have to attend to. But maybe Blake will finally get what he deserves: someone who sees him. Thank you Gary for this very sweet story. Your ability to make characters come alive, to turn emotions and the inner workings of your protagonists into words and to make the reader feel is amazing, as always.-

When you see a story by Mrsgnomie, there’s always a chance of at least 50% that it won’t be good. This is one of those stories. We follow two very well carved out characters through several years, from infatuation to love. Both guys grow a fair amount and realize what is important to the other one and how to overcome some obstacles. No, this story isn’t good. It’s amazing. It’s very typical for Mrsgnomie, which I mean as a big compliment. Thank you for this, this will be a favourite of mine, just like so many of your other works of art.

What a great story. It’s got it all, first and foremost a few great characters and absolutely fantastic storytelling. I highly recommend to give this story a read! The connection to Larkspur and the good doctor was just an added bonus and made me want to to back to those two stories again!

WOW, what a story! I’ve read a lot of stories and books, and this one certainly belongs up there on top with the best of them. With every new chapter the reader gets deeper into a special and carefully woven world, that at first doesn’t make too much sense, but then, after twists, turns, revelations and surprises, it all fits together like a 10‘000 piece puzzle. And uncovering it all is as satisfying as working on and finishing such a puzzle. I love how this story mixes different genres, first and foremost fantasy and coming-of-age, so easily with each other and manages to perfectly match dark, serious tones with some light, happy and funny moments. The way each character is carved out and developed throughout the chapters is amazing, and they all just fit nicely together and complement each other. I am hard pressed to find something negative to say about this story, the only thing that comes to mind is maybe the length of the chapters, but that’s mainly because I couldn’t stop when I should have stopped so I had a few short nights thanks to this story. I am very happy to have discovered this, and I am even happier that the author is working on a sequel. Thank you X

We follow Kye, after he makes a decision that will change his life forever. The question is though, will he be able to change too, overcome his learnt behaviour and thinking? What a fantastic story! Every character is so well written, they come alive in every scene. Thank you @craftingmom for making me cut a few nights short 😉

In this fifth part of the series, we get to know Siku, the polar bear, better and join him on his journey to find his true mate. Of course it’s not all smooth sailing, so be prepared to not being able to stop reading until you’ve come to the end. This is as well written as the previous four parts and the author continues to show his strength in writing each character in their unique and very believable way. Thank you @Grumpy Bear for these five stories. I hope there’s more to come. Maybe a Charlie spin-off?

I could easily copy and paste my review of "Alone in the Night" (go read that story before you read this one!), but that wouldn't do it justice. While this story is different from the first one, it is by no means less good. Just as the author describes, it's less of a continuing story and more a collection of memories, like a diary maybe. Nonetheless it's as captivating and emotional as the first one. Thank you for sharing this, @WolfM

Wow. What a read. Captivating from the first to the last page, and certainly an emotional rollercoaster. I am hesitant to comment on any specifics since the short summary of the author made it clear to me that he wants readers to discover the story as they read it, but I think it's safe to say that this is in the top and should get a "must read" badge (if something like that existed here). I (obviously) highly recommend this story, and also the companion story "Memories of a Street Rat". Thank you @WolfM for this story!

Not only does this story bring us plot twists, amazing characterisation and deep emotions, it also comes with many moments that make you wonder and second guess your own assumptions of the situation or the characters. All characters struggle with their feelings, don't know right from wrong at times and can't let go of some of their past. They are drawn to each other, but how will it end when their worlds collide? When they get what they want, is it really what they need? I loved the writing in this story, loved the atmosphere the author created, loved the layering and slow uncovering of emotions, needs and wants of the characters. After I got hooked, the story developed into directions I couldn't have imagined, which only made it more enjoyable to read. Thank you for writing this story! If you like stories with unique characters and unexpected twists, sit down and enjoy the ride with Nowhere Man

20 years after "The List" we get to meet all of the boys again. Well, men not boys anymore. Just because they are older doesn't mean they are any wiser, or less prone to drama. Amongst themselves and with more or less innocent bystanders. We again follow Cooper through his life. He has settled in nicely and one could think he has it all. A great family, a tight knit group of crazy friends who would go through hell and back to have each others backs, a good career... So what's missing? To say this story is equally well written as "The List" would be an understatement. It seems that not only the boys grew into men but also the author stepped his game up. Or maybe he's just insanely good at writing guys of different ages. While the characters are 100% the same as in "The List", they are, at least in some ways, more mature, while in other ways they are still the same scared little boys in search of... what exactly? With each chapter, we (and also them) learn a bit more about what each of them is looking for, what each of them has done in the last 20 years and what each of them wants from life. While you could read this story without having read "The List", I would strongly recommend that you read that first, because knowing what exactly went down 20 years ago helps to make sense and get a deeper meaning of most scenes. Plus, if you haven't read "The List", you would have missed a crazy amount of hot sex. Thank you @Jwolf, sir, for another great piece of literature. I enjoyed every minute of reading.

A bunch of guys get to know each other. For some of them it turns to lust, for some to drama, for some to friendship and for some to... love? We follow Cooper who's trying to navigate his newfound interest in other guys, his studies, learns to differentiate between lust and love, learns to deal with emotions he never had to deal with before and he learns that sometimes, you have to take a risk to get what you want. Or does he learn not to take a risk because he doesn't know if he can stand the hurt that might follow? This story is very well written and strikes a great balance between erotica and dramatic literature. The characters start off as pretty flat and one-dimensional, but the longer you read, the more they get fleshed out and become real. Every minute spent reading "The List" is worth it. And if you enjoy this story, I can highly recommend "The Funny Thing Is", the sequel to this story. Thank you @Jwolf for these two stories!

A story that takes you places, not literally but emotionally. The characters feel oh so real and their development, while being baby steps, feels major. This short story feels more real than many more elaborate works. Thank you @Krista

This is a story that will make you cry. Impeccable writing, so much character development in so few words and so much realness. I don’t know if I should be glad or if I should be mad that it was only a short story. Thank you for this. I highly recommend to everyone to spare a few minutes and dive into this story.

From the first paragraph to the last, this story makes it hard to take breaks from reading. Apart from being so very captivating story with an intense and perfectly paced storyline, all the characters, no matter if likeable or not, are very well written. Especially the developments of the characters, first and foremost Cyn of course, never feels forced but always feels natural. How he overcomes the inherent personality of his species and grows into so much more is just pure joy to read and witness. I can only recommend this story to anyone and everyone – even if you’re not particularly interested in shifter stories.

Hands down, in my opinion, Morningstar: The Malaise belongs in almost every top ten list for this site. Romance? Yes. Fantasy? Yes. Action/Adventure? Yes. Relationship? Yes. Comedy? Yes dear. Mystery? Yes. Thriller/Suspense? Yes. World Building? Yes. I could go on for many more genres. This story goes going from sad to romantic, from dramatic to sexy/hot, from tearful to joyful, all in the matter of a few paragraphs. While it is fast paced most of the time, character building never takes a backseat to action. Every single action by Kellar or Tobyn feels natural and organic, every secondary character has their purpose and role they fill perfectly. Morningstar: The Malaise is beautifully written by an expert author. The backstory of the pack, but also of the whole were-community, gets unravelled slowly but steadily. It's almost a waste that the whole backstory and world-building is limited to this one book. Maybe one day Headstall will decide to write book two - I doubt anyone would mind. On top of all of that, and maybe it's just me, a lot of things that happen in the world of Morningstar between the hunters and the shifters reminds me of struggles LGBT people face in the real world. Thank you, Headstall, for this book!

Thank you for fixing the issue so quickly! It's very much appreciated!

Thank you for looking into it anyway. and thanks in general for this page 🙂

Thank you for your reply, I am glad that I am not blind. But I am very certain that the bug hasn't only been introduced yesterday
-
I hope I am not making a fool out of myself, maybe I've just been blind, but... I usually add stories that I want to read later to a collection. Up until a few days ago there was a green plus symbol under each story to do exactly that, but it seems to have vanished. Did it get moved to somewhere else and I haven't been able to find it, did it get discontinued or is there a glitch in the software/template? Thanks for any answer, and maybe pointers to my blind spot!

This is a beatuiful continuation from Sidewinder. All characters continue naturally from the original story and continue their development in Larkspur. It's a big pleasure to dive back into the story of Boone and Coy, their love and their lives. After reading it back to back with Sidewinder, the development of those two young men becomes very evident. They both have grown a lot during Sidewinder, but they have continued building their life together inbetween those two stories. The way they they treat their animals and their land is wholesome and makes me happy. There is also the reintroduction of a supporting character from Sidewinder that feels like he was always meant to star in this sequel. His journey and his development feels as natural as the love between Boone and Coy, and just like Sidewinder, Larkspur: A Sidewinder Tale is one of the best stories here on GA. I feel like every emotion here is perfectly described, every action by any character is relatable and feels natural. Thank you Headstall - I hope there will be other stories in this world in the future!
