Jimmy Buffett is no longer with us, although I imagine there are a lot of us that got high in Margaritaville, at least in our minds, while listening to his music. He was 76 and died of Merkel skin cancer. R.I.P. my old friend.

August was an interesting month for me. I turned 75, celebrated my 20 anniversary here at GA, and I finished writing my entry for the Leap of Faith Anthology. When that story goes live, it will be the 100th story I've posted here. Of course, that doesn't look like much when you compare it to the 188 stories Comicality has posted on his site, but hey, he's been with GA 26 days longer than me. I'll miss Jimmy Buffett as well, but I'll still be able to enjoy his music. RIP old friend.

A busybody not only meddles in the affairs of others, but they also love to spread gossip. I'm sure we've all encountered a busybody at one time or another, probably even on multiple occasions.

I second what Mancunian said. This is not just a random site, it's a community and a family - a place where the LGBTQ+ community can feel safe and welcomed, but also find enjoyment in the stories posted here. We all do what we can to help each other and make GA grow and improve. None of us operate in a vacuum and we interact with numerous others on this site to do what we can to make this one of the best gay sites on the internet. Myr and Cia play huge and important roles in doing this, as well as many others who are in charge of various activities and blogs that keep us all informed. I try to thank them as often as I can, and we should all do the same.

When I was young, our go to antiseptic was mercurochrome (which was banned by the FDA in1998), but my aunt's family always used tincture of iodine.

Thank you, Terry, and I'm glad you enjoyed the description of the ritual and all of the detail I included. I think we all got a chuckle out of Mac's reaction to the peyote, especially when he called the shaman DUDE. And Devin's assistance seems to be paying huge dividends so far, and you're correct, the training may take less time than expected. However, there still an interesting ride ahead of us as Mac goes through the training.

Not exactly. They'll still have minor failings, but the major ones, such as the urge to murder, avarice, excessive vanity and envy, etc., will have been removed or reduced to an acceptable level. That's because not all desire to murder or kill will be removed, because they'd need to be able to kill to survive as animals.

I have to agree with you. As far as I know, the younger generation on the reservation follow the strict heritage of their culture and only show great respect when speaking to or about their elders, so I'm sure this was a first for the shaman.

Yikes, then maybe it was one of those spiders, but this happened before I move to GA and lived much farther north. I'm glad I didn't know it then or I might have freaked out.

Al, thanks for all the information about the peyote and I'm sure the readers will find it interesting as well. In fact, it almost sounds as if you went through one of these Native American ceremonies before. lol And I'm glad my description of the effect it had on Mac were fairly accurate. Yes, as I've told the others, Devin's impromptu training and give Mac a head start with what he'll have to learn.

Yes, drp, Devin's work with Mac has helped out a lot. As I explained before, my story will be much different from any other shifter story you might have read and the rituals, along with the information Mac will learn later, seems to prevent him from enduring such pain. Yes, the peyote kind of played with his mind and caused him to call the shaman Dude.

Yes, drsawzall, his work with Devin at the cabin is definitely paying off. It will probably come in handy throughout the training, so it may not take him as long as he was first told.
