Yes, it's risky for Devin to interfere, but he obviously doesn't feel he has any other choice. We'll see how it turns out in the next chapter.

Yes, I'm sure Doris is happy to hang out with Mac's family, seeing she usually only gets to hang out with Aaron's family, and the boys are getting prepared to attend college. What new adventures will that bring?

I'm afraid I can't answer your question, but I agree with you completely. We have to stop the hate, the bullying, the thumping, and harassment of young people so we don't crush their spirits and their dreams. It's important that they never give up.

You must be surreptitious when pulling pranks on your friends if you want them to be effective. -
Then in a way your dreams have come true, because you're now passing them along to younger generation. Teaching is a noble profession, even if teachers are underpaid and under attack at times, so make sure you help your students keep their dreams alive. And I also want to thank you for the wonderful review you posted for this poem. To be honest, I had my doubts about posting this poem, since I'm not a poet and I don't know very much about writing poetry, so I'm amazed by the wonderful response I've had to it.

Thank you, and I'm glad you enjoyed my effort and the message it delivered. As I was writing it, I kept thinking of the late basketball coach Jimmy Valvano. When he was dealing with cancer, he made a speech where he said, "Don't give up. Don't ever give up!" That applies to your dreams as well and not only when you're fighting an illness. I hope this helps to inspire someone to take another look at their dreams.

Thank you, Tony, and what you've stated is so true. We must always dare to dream, no matter how difficult life has been or how many times we've faced unbearable obstacles. Life would be very bleak without dreams and the dreamers.

Thanks, drp, and those are very interesting questions and possibilities. We'll eventually discover which, if any of those options are correct, but it the meantime I'll just let you continue to ponder the situation. 😈

Yes, secrets can be unsetting when you eventually learn the truth, and you're correct in stating that secrets are becoming more and more difficult to keep. It would be devastating to Devin's family if their secret was ever discovered, possibly ending their freedom or their lives, so hopefully that will never happen.
