Chapter 43 – The End of Another Year
Bill W commented on Bill W's story chapter in Chapter 43 – The End of Another Year
Add more rooms? Do you want this to look like the Marriott? I think they'll survive by having some of the adults stay at a motel or hotel and just leave the kids at the house. Yes, Rev. Kirk was only s secondary character, but he became an important one. He will be sorely missed. 2020 will bring many problems, as you are well aware, but the Curries will handle them as they have everything else. The number of tissues depends on the reader, since you all vary in your emotional response. -

Butcher, I'm glad that you enjoyed this chapter, but we'll have to wait and see if your hunch about Rev. Kirk is correct. Don't forget, he's retiring so he can spend time with his grown children and grandchildren, because they don't live close by, and he'll have to weigh that against what will be happening to the church under Rev. Belec. It will certainly be a difficult choice. The family is also entering 2020, and you know what that means, so we'll see how they navigate through it. I'm glad that you approve of Josh's biological children all coming together this time, but it can only happen because they're willing to get rooms at a hotel or motel during their stay, since the family has grown too large for them to all stay at the house. The answers to your other question will be answered soon. -

When we woke up on Sunday morning, we made sure that everyone got up and dressed for church. This was going to be Rev. Kirk’s final sermon and we wanted to make certain the pews were full when he gave it. Dad had told the others that he expected to see them there as well, and we hoped the other congregants would do the same. It had snowed overnight and there was a fair accumulation of the white stuff on the roads, so everyone drove a little slower on the way to church. I was a little surpr- 11 comments

Yes, Ricky's been tamed, as has obviously Dustin and Cole. Have to keep the wives happy. It's always fun to see kids having fun on sleds and toboggans, and this won't be the only time we'll see them out enjoying the winter weather. -

We had been up until 2:00 putting the presents under the tree and getting everything arranged, so it was fortunate that the boys let us sleep until 7:00 before they started waking us up. Xander and Wyatt had slept together in Xander’s room and woke up first, and then Xander went to wake up Danny and Brandon while Wyatt did the same with Dion and me. Once we were up and moving, they went to wake up the twins, and then the four of them raced through the house yelling: “Wake up. It’s Christmas- 7 comments

Yes, that was a rough time when two of Josh's biological children didn't want anything to do with him and wouldn't let his grandchildren spend time with him. I'm glad that situation is behind us now. -
Did we forget the Classic Updates section this week? Just curious.

You're forgiven and Sarah will appear more often, if this story continues. However, that's not a certainty at the moment, because you'll soon see we're pretty much caught up with reality, chronologically. That means I'll have to wait before the story moves on, otherwise I'll be writing science fiction, not just fiction. -

Yes, Joshie got had again. That's why I told readers to wait when they suggested he should be getting coal in an earlier chapter. Robert came with his wife, Sarah. You must have missed that. Christmas is always great at the Currie house, so no one should miss it. I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter. -

Thanks, Butcher. Christmas is a very special time of year when we gather with the family members that we love. It's too bad that this won't be the case for us this year, but we have to stay safe and protect our loved ones from this terrible disease. May all of you have a wonderful holiday season this year, no matter what religious traditions you adhere to. -

I'm sure most of us have special memories of moments like that, with the exception of the families that were in such dire straights that they couldn't afford to celebrate Christmas. Yes, I'm sure there are some with those memories as well, but those of us with the wonderful memories of the Christmases of our childhood should be grateful for the special attention our parents and other family members gave us at that magical time of the year. May all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas this year as well, even though we may be physically separated from those we love, but there are other ways to stay connected with them, so enjoy as best you can. -

As happens every year, the month of December was very hectic because there were so many things to do. We had to find time to go Christmas shopping, attend the boys’ concerts, and perform other seasonal related functions, while still carrying on as a normal family. No matter how crazy things got, Dad still found time to call the pastor of the Presbyterian Church and have a discussion with him. He told Rev. Cleary about our situation and asked him his views on same-sex relationships, and he- 18 comments

I'm certain the council is already fully aware of who Rev. Belec is and know about what happened at his past church. They'd be foolish not to investigate the situation before allowing him to come to this church. I'm sure Rev. Kirk has done what he could as well, but sometimes things are just out of our hands. As far as Joshie, he will have his comeuppance. -

Tony, I'm pleased that this chapter has spurred you to linguistic gymnastics. There's a lot going on, and it's not over yet, so stay tuned to see what happens next. You, and everyone else, must stay safe as well. I'd miss having you all around for these witty repartees. -

Unfortunately that wasn't the case, Wesley, but it would have been an interesting scenario. Now, we'll just have to wait and see what happens next, because the Curries will continue attending that church until Rev. Kirk gives his final sermon.
