I was fascinated by the history of the people, I am part Maori from New Zealand and we have a treaty with the government that is strictly adhered to by both parties, now that Australia is my home the Aborigines here are treated just like those in this story, shamefully.

"Cracker Barrel " here in Australia is a cheddar cheese... okay for dinner with a Merlot @kbois when you are ready. I am with @FanLit and his comments, its far too calm, imagining a strike on the castle to recapture the hybrids.. my ears picked up at the passing mention of Willa is a human, funny that Corbin is also and unattached with both humans aware of the supernatural world. Spies still in the castle a definite possibility, Huntington would be glad to be rid of Asa and Caleb to steal their abilities if possible, and give everyone a huge fright. Secret passageways and cliffhangers are perhaps not an impossibility?

My grandfather at age 37 was gassed on the Somme, when he returned to New Zealand my mother tells me that the nightmares he had still haunts her, she was born in 1930 so the sights and sounds carried on for decades. So much emotion in such a small piece of writing. Masterful work

Its just now occurred to me that Georges grandfather who owns Slaves is the same Lammert who wrote to him. A man I had come to like, now I am most conflicted. Also, how did he hear of the news about the bequest from his aunt Lady Kendall and his issues with Caroline when George is very careful of his public profile, so who is the gossip.. -

Wonderful question @lilansui, I had 8 siblings but I only have 2 sisters and a brother. The others are toxic and money is all they want. Only this year with the death of a sister with Alcoholic Dementia did we discover a changed will, double crossing over property sale (trust deed changed) , and refusal to honour debts. With both parents dead, the ties have weakened to thin strands of cotton...
