This is the start of a series about the crusades.The title refers to a Knight, Ser Darien, who has lost his squire and needs a new one fast. He must soon arrive at the ships and set sail on a crusade. He finds a young thin boy who is fabulous with horses and hires him against the youth's protest. One on the road too late to find a replacement he realizes his new youth, Wylan, is blind and has adapted well to his darkness. The ship travel is rough and painful. Once they land they face tough enemies, treachery, heroism, many deaths, thirst and very harsh climate conditions. They learn lessons the hard way. You will find out about worthy and unworthy leaders. Wylan is given a magic book and with great effort begin to understand and use it. He finds he can mentally connect with a Muslim sorcerer who has his own tragedies. He is added by magic, but the cover story is that he has a divine source that the church can accept and finds learns about a nearby oasis that will save his force. Some know Wylan as a saint beloved by God. The truth though would have him killed as a heretic. Wylan and Darien create a family of diverse people who face hardships, combat injuries and grow closer. Danger seems always around the corner. This is a compelling read. Enjoy.....

Life is going to change for Wylan and Darien when they arrive in Antioch. Rumors of Wylan finding the water has reached the king and his men. The king wants his saint with him and wants his men to know Wylan is helping them. Darien will be with Wylan. They will need to be very careful Wylan reached out to his sorcerer and found him in despair. His father is dead killed by his older brother, The Sultan thinks Ishan killed his fsther, He feels so alone. He turned off their connection. Wylan again told him he was not alone, Wylan is there for him. After this conversation Wylan is worried about Ishan, The story has concluded this phase. The future must be even more dangerous with hard battles and serious internal political battles. I want to see how Wyland and Darien grow and contribute to crusader victories

Things get very anxious and scary in the Hartley household. It has a large group of youths who begin to fight the new evil in their town .Somewhere outside a carnivorous plant is growing and feeding. It is being cared for by Edgar, a butcher, who hates vegetarians/vegans and now has transformed meat that changes people into brutes, killers and monsters The battles will not be easy and not straight forward. New magical beings will appear.Large, oppressive bureaucracies have to be handled and beaten and overcome. There is too much paperwork. Love lives will be expanded, tested and defined anew. Pay attention to how Charlie, Tyler and Taine evolve. Charlie at loose ends prays and Pip, a cherub, turns up to help him and be his willing lover. Matt,, Simon( Lynix) and Gareth form a close knit , wish fulfilling group. Things are challenging and you will not be certain how things will turn out. Will Edgar and the goddess inspired meat eating plant take over the city or not? The story will baffle and intrigue you. Life will not remain calm. There are more related books to come. I know I will want to read them all.

Sam is taking care of his knight, He feels very good about him , but worries he is being too open. His knight shows no concern. They find a popular place and buy meat pies that smell wonderful. San finds a safe, private place and encourages his knight to open his visor and eat the pie, It imust be a new experience for his knight and he relaxes and eats the pie when hot. It was delicious. They found a good inn to stay, Samis on his way to fit in and to be able to see and hear information about the drug problem.

You tied it up and put people together and sent Tyler away and let the plant scientist live and flee with the warning to not cause more trouble. Taine has to figure out what he wants. Charlie has Pip when he centers his life and relationships. Edgar is in jail. Simon and Matt and Gareth have agreed to be a menage a trois I can see things have stabilized but feel there are more stories that will follow. There are too many loose ends.

The High Herald has taken full control .Food is rationed. The rebels are accepted without evidence that they caused the crop failures, The people begin informing on the rebels. Fenn targets towns and looks for senior rebels. He pushes on and thinks he has found important rebels who are fleeing at night. It is looking dangerous for the rebels.

"King" Baldwin is a bastard and fool. He locked the city's gate keeping his countrymen outside to be slaughtered by returning Turks. It was a horrible, action. Baldwin claimed he was king of the city and he did not anyone to come inside and challenge his rule. A wounded rider reach Lord Haskal's camp and told them what Balwin had done, Everyone was upset. Most pained was Wylan who felt the angony of those dying outside the gates, Stephen provided medical care to Wylan through the night and Wylan survived still traumatized Haskal took control of Mamistra and promised to treat the people fairly. Darien knew Baldwin would come to them for help. He knew Balwin's men would turn on him and they did. Baldwin approached the gates of Mamistra and asked to be let in. Haskal said no and told them to camp outside and leave in the morning. That next morning, Baldwin's men asked for food and water, The answer was still no. Balwin fled on a horse probably fearing the increased hatred of his few remaining men. Those remaining outside were now helped. Val found Balwin's crown and gave it to a local priest to feed the children We saw that a leader can be cruel and self-serving and another can stand for honor and what is right. Baldwin likely has not yet disappeared

Politicians can be mysterious. Maybe he wanted to insure his daughter got great seats and personal time with her favorite band. If he runs for president, he will not be home much and this goodwill gesture might show her again he cares about her. Maybe the senator is going to meet some donors and or advisors in separate meetings.

Theo realizes he is being manipulated and is making some progress, He finds himself in a blizzard and drives on to seek his pack's home. He sees smoke in the distance and moves toward it Jack and Vincent are striving to find Theo. They know he needs them. Jack remarks about their search to find the home of Theo's pack,,,. " I don’t know, but if we’re there… we will prevent him from destroying himself, as well." The evil forces are not by far defeated yet. They will keep on trying to deceive Theo, Jack and Vince.

Two seemingly very different 35 years olds meet years after attending high school together, They have matured and think they have learned lessons from how they faced their problems and now live independently. Avery, a successful business consultant, brings in his car to the neighborhood car repair shop. run by Dino. They were opposites in high school. Dino was part of a larger family full of jocks. Avery was the out and gay debate guy But, now they learn they have things in common, including hot sex. It turns out eventually Avery has to decide whether to try to make a life in Seattle with Dino or move away and take a full time job elsewhere. What happens to them and how they communicate and miscommunicate matters. They have big decisions to make You will want to hope they become a couple. I think you will be fascinated to see what happens

I agree with the James Bond living through it all comparison. But, M died in a shootout in Skyfall so real pain from a key character's death can happen along the way.

Finally, at the last moment Avery realizes he needs Dino. A tough decision was made after he was ghosted for 48 hours, Avery will take the job offer and move. Dino showed up too late, they fucked and eventually, he learned Avery was moving away. Avery has rented out the house. He accepted the full time job and signed in the dotted line. He packed his car with his goods and began his car trip until too many memories, and some good advice told him he needed to stay and be with Dino. It is now messy and impractical, but Avery is going to find a way to make them work.

What a thought-provoking encounter. If true , this will change the normal understanding of human history Balder explained to Mark that he along with others visited earth and taught earthmen to work iron about 1200AD.A fight erupted within his people on how to treat other worlds, Loki and his members wanted to conquer and rule. Balder and others did want the same goals, He was wounded in battle and Thor,his brother sent him away to safety in his ship. Their healing power is exceptional since he may have been dead or near death, Balder was in his ship for500 years. With what Balder described, the First Friend reported finding other planets around Balder's home system that were conquered. This might need to be tracked to watch out for further threatening expansion. Mark felt drawn to Balder and was worried his feelings were not natural but manipulative. He will need to be careful.

Edgar had been feeding the beast his meat for weeks, He was really enhanced and Tyler noticed his predator nature and too sharp teeth. He could tell the beast is not just human and is warned. Tyler is now in the fight for his life. He must creatively respond. Edgar has laid a trap for him Can Tyler's friends help him in anyway?

Haskal knew how 200 men could take a city : Psyop warfare and true deception. Then Baldwin stole it from him because he had 10 times the men who would fight him to get the city from Haskal., Haskal listened to Wylan worrying and a large group of riders arriving by morning. He had his men leave and will let Baldwin handle the new force. Wylan is continuing to show he is needed. He is unable to talk about his last communication from the sorcerer

Mhalyn saw the High Herald cloaked moving through fields destroying food crops. She ran to tell her rebel friends. It was thought the High Herald was going to cause a famine and would blame the rebels. Petre thought the people would turn on them and no place would be safe Petre thought they might have to flee to Orinovo. What a scary thought. The High Herald is showing how evil and cruel he can be.

One supposed dead end and Gabiel still looks for shooters. He cannot figure out who he fought with earlier and Scott is no help. It looks like the Senator is going to be targeted at the concert by a sniper Scott breaks into the Hershey computer system and finds a message that was likely sent by Gabriel's old boss. He needs to call Gabriel to tell him who on the inside was contacted. So, who did Mehmet contact?

That park was a place for gay hookups. Police in older times might be on the lookout for sexual play. I am sure they do not do it now. Oh No--John survived the perils of the confessor's interrogations and was put into the human army that was to invade the elf lands fearing death.
