Reading the latest short story by @Bill W, I've decided to explore the older ones. I don't know how I decided to read this one first, but I've been surprised that there is no reaction to it. This is coming of age story which main characters are high school jockes Tony and Jordan. As they grow up together, they sexually experiment and while Jordan accepts being gay and being in love with his best friend, Tony fall into denial. What this story makes different is that it is written from Tony's POV, which give us picture of all turbulences in person that rejects his friend at the first moment and his growing out of denial. The story deals with sexual acceptance and sexual exploration. It touches the problems of bulling, suicide, health issues, dealing with death of the parent, mentoring the younger brother, family acceptance. There are moments of joy, moments of passion and moments of sadness and cry, but at the end this story brings the satisfying closure both for its protagonists and us as readers.

I've expected Stacy to have some emotional outburst, but I thought he was going to find a picture of Mikey (I know, I'm too sappy...). Sometimes, our jokes can hurt someone close to us. Boys are still sensitive and hurt, they can overreact, so it is important they have good friends to support them and bring the best out of them. Manchester tour has been great. Thank you for bringing memory of Alan Turing. His personal history is both story of unknown war hero and tragic victim of awful homophobic laws.

This beautiful story rises ambivalent feelings in me. I'm really sad and feel it's unfair to lose a loving child but, on the other hand, it's so nice that this short life has been spent surrounded by loving parents as Gavin and Danny. When destined to live as abandoned child, Eric has been blessed to be adopted by two loving guys and, although losing him, Gavin and Danny are blessed for having him as part of their life, at least for some time. 😢

I think this is much too easy solution. No, they need to be tortured, they need revelation and remorse and lot of, lot of, lot of apologizing!!! When I saw the title of the chapter, I felt pain in my stomach!!! I've been so furious of this bigoted family through all the first part of the chapter!!! They are disgusting! It has been painful to read but, when Miles showed at Owain's doorstep, I've been thinking - What the hell?! I'm not sure what is more absurd, homophobic bigotry or treating Colin as a child which has to be saved from bad influence?! On the other side, news went much better with collogues and friends! At least, Colin feels relieved, and he is free to start a real relationship. So... Italy, here we come! 🙂
