Welcome Stephanie! The times people have asked Dom whether a particular character was based off of someone in his real life, Dom would usually answer that whilst someone may had had characteristics of people he knew, no character was really based off of anyone in particular. There were times people asked if Dom had issues with his parents because all his story parents were mean (Dom's folks were not mean). And some asked if Dom were a twin because there seemed to be lot's of twins in his stories (Dom's not a twin). I think the closest we got was that Taylor from TOU have several characteristics of one of Dom's one time BFs. So anywho, it appears that all of Dom's characters are figments of his creative imagination . While you wait patiently (or impatiently) for ITFB 21, I'd suggest re-reading TOU, TLW, & DD. There is a tremendous amount of detail that you might discover if you had previously read each store in one shot. Welcome again, and hopefully Dom will be off hiatus soon* ! Take Care®, Vic

Whoa! You didn't mention before that this was a teaching assistant/student situation. You can't date him until after you are no longer in a position of power over him. If you are responsible for his grade, then there's always the possibility that he's being extra friendly to you in order to get a better grade. Until the end of the term, he's off limits. Take Care

Good for you (and us) . If you are looking for suggestions on how to control yourself, perhaps you could try restricting yourself to only two or three posts per day? Wow, during all my time here at GA, I don't think I've ever felt this annoyed about the number of posts that have been appearing that don't add any value to the threads they're part of. I'm no saint, and I'm sure I've been guilty of a post going off topic or one that really doesn't add value, but the amount of chaff nowadays is overwhelming what little wheat there is hidden in the threads. When I'd hear complaints in the past about other posts or posters, I'd usually tell other members "well, if you don't like a thread or a poster, just ignore the thread or the poster". But recently, it's hard to ignore and the "View New Post" tool becomes less useful. Vic (Who's probably just cranky because Dom hasn't posted in over 6 months)

I'll just add to what Kevin has said. The field of Queer Studies is much more broad that one might first assume. My Ex developed and taught a class on queer studies and I was fascinated with the topics he discussed in the class. There is also a tremendous amount of literature (and I'm not talking about Domluka Gay Fiction Literature ) and gay history. I was particulary 'surprised' at the amount of gay history where I never really considered pre-stonewall & AIDS. Author's like John D'Emelio & Peter Nardi are just a few of the scholars who write about Queer Study topics. If your college(s) offer classes in Queer Studies, I'd suggest taking one for your own edification. Take Care®, Vic
