  1. This makes me laugh. I’m certain I’m taking things out of context, but that’s what I do best! ;-) It’s not as if Prince George is located in a third world country! I’m sure that all the Canadian regulations that you’re familiar with will keep you from getting sick from unsanitary or dangerous foods! It’s not like you’re moving to the uncharted dangers of Trumpland™ or Putin’s Russian Empire! ;-) Now go out and win them all over with your witty prose, razor-sharp intellect, and sparkling personality! ;-)
  2. It seems to me that the Mounties have a squeaky-clean image at least in the US. Alex could give them a black-eye by getting the press involved, but that might get his living situation examined and he and Luke could end up in foster care – not a good trade-off and RoboTerminator™ probably knew that when he responded to Alex’s threat. Besides, Alex does have a down-beaten, ‘criminal-adjacent’ attitude that would minimize the likelihood of his actually filing a complaint to near zero. ;-) And as I’ve said in the past, Don is not going to willingly allow the continued embarrassment of Robbie not returning to his home. Don has been humiliated by having to file a missing person’s report on his nephew. None of this is going to help his reputation among the all-important Coburg Brahmins! ;-)
  3. I’m kind of surprised that Robbie can’t ban Don from visiting him, but I suppose he’s still a juvenile and Don is one of his legal guardians. I think if Robbie has to choose between Amy’s birthday and accompanying Nathan, he has to choose Amy. Nathan will understand, but Amy will be devastated if neither Robbie nor Nathan isn’t there! If Robbie had attended all of Amy’s birthdays up until now, it would be different… Maybe Alex can get a big payout from the RCMPs and end up in a better situation – if they set up a trust for Alex and Luke that prevents their father from drinking it all. But my impression is that Canada isn’t as litigious as the US. I’m guessing that settlements aren’t quite as lucrative for Canadian victims.
  4. You can always watch Game of Thrones if you miss snow! John Snow is very beautiful, but Jaime Lannister is sexier (even though his personality and love life leave something to be desired). ;-)
  5. When I read this in Safari’s Reader View, it removes the color background, so the notes at the end blended in with the rest of the text. My brain saw ‘Parker’ and thought it said Peter Parker (Spiderman) at first! It did seem like an odd choice of a movie for these two! (Parker Posey might have made more sense!) My mother (who had four younger sisters, but no brothers) had no daughters, so she had all three of us in the kitchen helping her at different times when she needed assistance in the kitchen. We all had to help washing and drying the dishes (no fancy dishwasher). But she also made sure to teach us basic cooking skills. When my younger brother and I got old enough, my mother told us if we wanted dessert in our brown paper bag lunch, we’d have to make it ourselves – so we baked cakes (from a boxed mix) or cookies (from scratch). We also baked cookies for my older brother to take back to college when he came home to visit and batches of holiday cookies in December. Her favorite trick was to ‘allow’ us to bake blueberry muffins occasionally, when she was in the mood to have them – this was back when they used to include the little can of real blueberries in the box.

The only thing that could have been worse is Brett and Dustin sharing a sperm donor! Jack and his family are such hypocrites! Like father, like son! Good thing Billy can’t get pregnant (and Brett prefers to bottom)! ;-)

    Chapter 6

It seems to me that Cal and Davey need to do some serious talking instead of just having sex all the time. They really don’t know each other at all. They need to get beneath the surface if they hope this will last longterm.

    Chapter 5

I may not have the disreputable background that Cal has, but I can identify with his insecurity. I have felt just as out of place as Cal does when I was dating one guy (his family had accumulated considerable wealth and took expensive and exotic vacations). My upbringing was clearly lower-middle-class suburban and things like expensive restaurants make me very uncomfortable. I also have been in the situation of being judged by others who thought they were much better than I am. ;-)
  9. I still think a warning in the preface to the chapter (or in the story description) is advisable. As I said earlier in the Comments you referred to above, I don’t think people will necessarily agree with me. I feel my suggestion is a middle path where characters do as the authors feel they should, but a suggestion is made to the readers that their actions might not be advisable. A reference to safe sex behavior is all that I think is necessary, further details should be apparent to most readers. Note: I was not the reader who was “appalled.”

    Chapter 16

So @Ronyx, it looks like this chapter enticed two people to register so they could comment! I’ve never noticed that before! Well done! ;-) And welcome to @sassypie and @Marvalouswoman! ;-)
  11. It`s your story...Right? You just rate it mature if there`s explicit content, and that`s all your responsibility. Maybe give a warning at the beginning of the chapter. It all feels a bit...confusing though...Are you responsible to satisfy readers, or write a story. So...Since you`re writing, and already have positive feedback, you`re probably doing a great job with the content, so...I think just go ahead with writing it the way you feel like.

    Chapter 16

Everybody wants to see the faint pale pink tracks running down your face – it’s much easier to see when you wear white face paint! ;-)

    Chapter 16

Someone else already called it. Troy wouldn’t realize what he feels about Jayden until Jayden is in peril. Then suddenly, Troy will understand how much he cares about the man who has become such a big part of all the Neal's lives. Hopefully, the report of a shooting doesn’t involve Jayden, but who knows with such an incompetent police force and judicial system! Maybe a police office managed to shoot himself in the foot when he was getting out of a police car or something. Or maybe, since crime appears to be rampant, one of the many gangs that control the town was involved in a drive-by…

That’s an incredibly funny way to describe how Eustace hired Andy! ;-) I miss these guys! ;-)

    Chapter 4

…And I’ll choose to read the invisible lines that mentioned using a condom. ;-) Much as a story that mentions suicide should include information on groups like the Trevor Project, I believe that writers do have a responsibility to at least acknowledge that safe sex is important even if their characters don’t always make the right choices. Just as writers are encouraged to include warnings about unusually violent or intense scenes, I think it would be a good idea to do the same for scenes with unprotected sex. But this is my opinion and I don’t expect everyone to agree with me.

    Chapter 3

I read the first chapter and didn’t think it was my sort of story. But I noticed Sam’s question about chapter length (it’s difficult to forget the Legoland head!). I kept seeing new chapters being posted and the description this time included a quote from one of my favorite authors: Parker Owen. So I reread the first chapter and read the second chapter (Safari’s Reader View sometimes shows two or more chapters, one after the other, in the same window). I noticed a few familiar names in the Comments. So I read this chapter too. ;-) I like gentle guys like Davey (I like my guys to be tall, thin, smooth, and blond/redhead/ginger rather than large/bulky/muscular, hairy, and dark-haired) and Cal is unique and intriguing. Davey seems amazingly accepting considering Cal’s background. Has Davey’s gentleness and caring nature been abused by previous boyfriends?
  17. Of course, you start seeing rainbow-colored logos every June too. Wells Fargo runs a Lesbian-themed ad during LGBTQ programming. It shows two women learning ASL (American Sign Language) Eventually you learn that the women are adopting a hearing impair child. The voice-over solemnly intones ‘when two becomes three’ and my brain never fails to change that last word to “three accounts!” Don’t be fooled into thinking that one LGBTQ-themed ad means the company has your best interests in mind! HRC has lists of corporations that do more than just paint their logos in rainbow stripes…
  18. [sarcasm] Because everyone will be convinced that your company is local if you stick a Maple Leaf in the logo. [/sarcasm]

    Chapter 41

I think a better idea would be to give her to @Parker Owens or @craftingmom or another author who likes to put their characters through extreme physical and/or emotional stress. Maybe they’d be able to make her come out a better person in the end too! But she might be worse than the Predator was initially. ;-)

    Chapter 41

I don’t know why you even bothered to ask. Your hungry birds are always eager for more about the entire family. I doubt you’d be able to find anyone of your readers who wouldn’t want more of Seb & Beau! ;-)
  21. I was surprised to find this pop up in my Notifications! ;-) When I’m under intense stress, I freeze. I don’t run around like a chicken with its head cut off when I panic. My best friend doesn’t understand why I don’t reacting the way he does. I’m shaking just as much as Devon was, but my brain tries to shut down rather than deal with the problem. My therapists have reassured me that it’s a normal, albeit much less common, way of dealing with stress. I don’t find it to be an advantageous reaction. I’m not certain that hacking is necessarily the biggest problem they’re facing. I’d think that using edited bits of the video, people with agendas that would be threatened by Vampires (the religious in particular) could create damaging messages. In the California Prop 8 war, the Mormons & Catholics put out ads that abused a single line that an excited then-SF Mayor Gavin Newsom used in a speech celebrating an earlier win for Marriage Equality. Things can be taken out of context to persuade others of the message being presented.
  22. I don’t think even natural parents immediately love their newborn children ‘like a parent should love a son.’ It takes more than just a couple days together to build those emotions and love. There is a difference between the sometimes instant feelings of protectiveness when we see an infant or small child and the feelings of parental love. I know that my own feelings for my nieces and nephews pale in comparison to the feelings my brothers and sisters-in-law have for their own children – it’s similar, but not even close to being the same. I hope Gabe and Derrick left a huge tip for housekeeping at the motel! Taking care of a wet bed might not be uncommon, but it’s still not the most pleasant thing to have to deal with and probably not what was expected when the two men checked in initially. A tip as a courtesy for extra or unpleasant work is a nice gesture. ;-) It doesn’t seem like Cass is a jealous kind of guy. I’m sure he’ll be shocked to get a call or text telling him he has a new brother since the guys weren’t expecting! I’m sure he’ll be generous with his new brother especially after he hears about Dane’s background. ;-)
  23. I just bought three hardcover Tales of the City by Armistead Maupin books to complete my collection. Foolishly, I left those same titles (as well as the complete Harry Potter series, also in hardcover) behind when I was evicted from my apartment and became homeless. All three were in New condition, but one was damaged in transit by poor packaging (possibly intentional to disguise the real condition of the book). I still own a few other physical books, but Tales means the most to me.
  24. Well, that incident took place in the ‘90s around the time Apple introduced the first iMac…
  25. Corner Folding is not as bad as breaking the spine of a book! I made the mistake of loaning a book to a coworker who took a paperback that was so gently read that it still looked brand new and returned it with the spine broken in several places along with creases in the cover! I never loaned him any other books after that.
