  1. Any type of cancer is always hard to think about but the advances every DAY have been so incredible. When I was diagnosed with my lymphoma three years ago, I immediately looked it up online and descriptions from just a few years before had extremely dire descriptions. But it was found early enough, treatments had been improved and a few months later I was in complete remission and additional treatments were done to hopefully keep it out of my life forever. Best thoughts for her and for you and your family...
  2. This first "book" is complete - he has only been turning stories over to Myr when they are complete. Now, if you've read his previous stories, you know that he may write a second book in the same world and I personally hope he does so with this story as even though this has a satisfying ending (no spoilers), there is also obviously so much more he can do to explore this world he's created.
  3. This is one that I REALLY enjoyed... Of course, it starts at a high school baseball game ;-)
  4. Shelly isn't only remembered, it is on her "grave"...
  5. I haven't been keeping up on the forum, just on the story, so just posted in the thread for Bull Dust but it looks like, from MartyS' comments, that the Shelly Rachel Carlson Fowler connection has already been made...
  6. I'm kinda surprised no one noted what I thought was a very significant passage: Hmmm - a woman in Australia who makes Key Lime Pie (a Florida speciality), who's first name is Shelly. I've wondered ever since the first Key Lime Pie references, and this just makes me even more curious.
  7. There have been a number of pictures of him with various past boyfriends, but it is really nice he did come out. And I agree he is really cute - though Milo was the reason for watching "Heroes" (and is straight as far as I know) :-(
  8. You will be FANTASTIC!!!
  9. Hope it goes great! At some point, try to take a group picture (checking first to make sure everyone is willing to be photographed and put on the web) and then post it here. :-)
  10. Right now Everquest 2 with side forays into Sims 3 and Civ 5, though on the PS3 I do have fun with Mortal Kombat v DC, as it's one of the few times I can totally pwn Tyler (our nephew). Past MMO's have been The Sims Online, There.com, Star Wars Galaxies, City of Heroes, Matrix Online, Tabula Rasa, Vanguard, FreeRealms and Lord of the Rings Online. As much as I totally love EQ2, the two times I tried the original EQ, I got frustrated with the mechanics. I will try EQNext when it comes out though I don't know that much about it yet. Was a little bit interested in Old Republic MMO but meh - don't have time for it now...
  11. He does have another new story that is finishing up the editing process - story is fully written... Current title is "Displacement" though don't hold me to it...

    Blueberry Iced Tea...

Awww - so sorry to hear about the medic, esp since you had a great first date. As to the teenagers - um, even the ones who aren't in trouble with the law are a lot to deal with. Wanna borrow a 13 yo boy and 11 yo girl for oh, say, 5-7 years? Free to good home ;-)

An eternal curse on Edward Longshanks...
  14. My main question is - shouldn't it be his choice? I mean - I thought you were supposed to see the dress for the first time when you are about to be married... Rings I think should be a joint decision, but clothes for the ceremony I think are up to each individual.
  15. He's up to chapter 5 now - and ya B1ue, this is definitely a continuation of Waiting for the Sign/Rising Star. This three book series is one of my favorites. PS - if anyone didn't know, the story is complete and turned in to Myr so the chapters will all come out on schedule.
  16. Glad you liked it Abercrombie - it is one of my favorites...
  17. You mean like the one we had in Dallas? ;-) But seriously, we'll try to hit other areas, but not always easy. On the other hand, anyone can always try to set up a smaller unofficial one - the UK had a successful one!
  18. Thank you to Dark and others who have started this idea. I am happy to announce that we'll do an official GA GetTogether in the Los Angeles area sometime in summer of 2012. I'll start a poll soon with location and date choices though if you have specific ideas, feel free to chime in. Once enough steam is gathered, I'll start a private forum for those that intend to attend so we can be more specific in planning. As with past official GA GetTogethers, anyone is welcome to attend, but the only way to get specifics of location/times/etc will be through myself to discourage stalkers. As past attendees can attest though, the groups tend to be very low key with no pressure to do anything more than sit around and chat. We'll try to organize just one main event (typically a dinner or lunch) though there may be additional side-events for those that want to make a full weekend of it. So - any initial ideas?
  19. I like the idea and will make this official - thank you Dark for starting this thread but I'm going to post an official GA Get-Together. As to the scarcity of them recently, mainly it is my being very busy with work and the new house (and kids). But organizing for Southern CA for summer of 2012 will be easy for me. And we have had an official GA GetTogether on the east coast - January 2009 in DC to be specific. I think we may be able to have one back east either Sept 2012 or Jan 2013 but let me focus first on July 2012 in SoCal... PS - closing this topic to direct all replies to the new thread: <link to new thread>
  20. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. Just finished reading this one last night - GREAT story and really good writing. Enjoyed it - squirmed in places and had my eyes tear up in others. Thanks for a wonderful story!
  22. Great chapter CJ... And ya - totally changing my vote after this chapter.
  23. So am I the only one that liked James the most? j/k Great story - one thing I love about our anthologies is a chance to sample authors I haven't tried yet. LOVED your writing and can't wait to see where you decide to go with this. Also can't wait to check out the rest of your writing!
  24. Giving the same broad message I put into the UK thread: Topic is now pinned (ie - stickied). A meetup is basically just people getting together to put names with faces and meet in person. Simple ideas usually work best - lunch somewhere or a coffee stop. Set the time for about three hours - and if people want to hang around and do more together after, great. Whoever takes the lead in organizing it should ask people to post or private message him if they are interested in attending. I recommend picking a city, date and approximate time, but only giving the exact location to people in private messages just so there aren't unexpected lurkers. Anyone is free to suggest getting together with other users of GA at any time - but I do want to provide the usual caveats - this is not an officially sanctioned event of GayAuthors and please always use your best judgement and caution in what you reveal to others, especially if you are a minor. Now - having said that - again - nothing is wrong with planning and having a meeting and from my past experience, they can be a blast. You get to sit and chat with people that you only know from the board, and just relax and enjoy yourself. I've actually been surprised at the good turnout at past official events and that everyone pretty much was fine with pictures from the events being posted to the board afterwards.
