Great chapter! I'm really enjoying the story. I can't say that I blame Philip and Alex's father for "detaching" himself - having all your sons die before you - that has to suck, even if it is the way of their world.

Excellent chapter, Marky! The dialogue was particularly good. The chapter was a little longer too, that's always a bonus. I sense James has become quite frustrated in how to deal with Adam. I think he's caught between his feelings for Adam and his feelings about how he should be as Lord of the Manor. I'm intrigued by how this will play out. Now Adam and the Lady? Adam's going to find himself in a fox hunt....only he'll be the fox.

I enjoyed the chapter, but, personally, I'm having a little trouble relating to an online relationship that is definitely moving towards something romantic without having exchanged a pic of some sort. Yes, they've had hours of conversation but there's just something nagging me about this situation. Maybe I'm being a pain in the ass. Anyways I'm staying with you here. I'm dying to know (as several reviewers have already surmised) if Max and Too Close are one and the same. I just gotta know!

Really a nice flow to the story; fun easy read. Well edited too, my compliments to you and your team. I do have a question for the team, you used the expression "pay the fiddler" - I'm more familiar with "pay the piper", as in Pied Piper??? So Andy's a Yankee fan; I'll try to get past that. Andy's "argument" to the principal was excellent - definitely had that skilled lawyer touch to it. The Q Man will be proud of you, I'm sure! Sounds like Joey has a tough row to hoe with his father.

As soon as I read the title of this chapter, I remember thinking, "Well, I guess we won't be having Derek and Charlie feeding each other chocolates while whispering sweet nothings to one another!" On the other hand, I wasn't expecting multiple catastrophies either. For this chapter alone you could be the next reigning King of Cliffhangers. A few weeks for part 4, eh? You're only human, you say. I think we should have a poll on that issue!

I fail to see the point of this topic. Yes, gays are often portrayed as effeminate in film. It has sterotype written all over it. Your average straight male when impersonating a gay man always uses a lisp with the accompanying limp wrist. Nothing new here. Are you making a distinction between effeminate and sissy? If you are, what is that distinction?

Fascinating scene between Andrew and Derek. He could see that Derek needs help. He does help by relating a bit about himself, about once being a bully and how he decided to change that. Unfortunately, this flies right over Derek's head. Derek does not see himself as a bully. He sees himself as an intelligent, good looking, athletic, born leader, and yeah, an overall charming kind of guy. The kind of guy that people should just give way to, because...., well that's just the way of the world, isn't it? I'm hoping there will be a scene somewhere down the road where Andrew breaks Luke in half. But our Andrew won't do that, I guess. It's fun to imagine though. Well, Derek and Charlie are talking again. That's a good thing. A lot got said too, most of it good stuff. His Charlie loves him. At least Derek didn't respond, "Well, of course, you love me!" Travis is not the bad guy here, but he does suffer from some fuzzy thinking. He's not listening to what Charlie is telling him about Derek. He also doesn't see what his father is up to. It seems to me that Travis' dad is intentionally provoking Derek into a confrontation with his son. He wants his son to beat the snot out of Derek. Hey Charlie, you want to be close to Derek? He lives next store, you know!

I'm really looking forward to this story unfolding. I'm hoping his company's expansion comes about, it will increase his confidence and, hopefully, his ability to risk a little more. Keep those yuks coming.
