Been there, done that. Several times. Each time he swore that he'd stop seeing the other men. Because of financial entanglements, we became more like room-mates than life-mates. Each situation is unique and you have to weigh many factors, but if this is a pattern, I would STRONGLY suggest getting away from the situation as quickly as possible. Cheaters cheat for a reason. They may say it was just meaningless sex, but it goes FAR deeper than that. Even if it was just meaningless sex for them - the fact that they would betray you like that says a lot about how much they value you and the relationship that the two of you share.

Hi Draigen, Great idea. I've started several companies myself - it's a great way to use ALL your skills! (And learn new ones - like it or not!) I like the idea of a simple rainbow - no fuss, no muss. I often buy stuff with the simple rainbow on it. It's understated and a clear sign for other gay people when they see it. As a young man, (that's about 100 years ago) I used to have several rainbow ribbons around my ankle when only another gay man or woman would understand what they were seeing. I just kept replacing them as they fell off with age. I'm the only old fart at my gym with ankle bracelets but EVERYONE looks at them! And these days, everyone knows what they mean! You've got a good idea, I wish you well! TJ Minnesota

Very, very good question! Usually, it doesn't take long before I can tell if I'm going to continue reading or not. The very first thing that will drive me away is formating errors. Poor spelling, really strange or inconsistent fOrMatInG is SO anNoYing! Use the spelling and grammar checkers, don't indent this paragraph and then double or quadruple space between the next few paragraphs. I'm also turned off by excessive use of bad language and bad grammar. I understand that some character's dialogue needs to be written in certain ways to suit their personality. However, once the author starts their narrative, they'd better use English at least as well as I do - so that leaves A LOT of leeway! (My pet peeve is the word had. He had left his coat on the chair where he had been sitting while the speaker had been... AH!) I try to use that word as seldom as possible! Thirdly, if an author uses language that's way over my head, I'll quickly give up. When I sit down to read for entertainment, it's for, well, entertainment! Slogging through Latin or Old Elvish for dozens of pages will guarantee that book ends up in my trash can. The same goes for details, either too much or too little will piss me off. If you're going to explain EVERY detail of a complicated coat of arms - using heraldic language - forget it. But if we're leaving planet Earth and traveling to another galaxy, at least tell me how we're getting there! I'm not sure I should even say this last piece, but I'm gay. Like 10,000%. I probably won't be reading a book with lots of straight romance in it to begin with, nonetheless, I don't need sex scenes, either straight or gay. Straight ones will gross me out and gay one's will... well, let's just say, they won't help me maintain my equilibrium, ok? (There's a VERY nice website, or three, for that OTHER kind of 'reading' entertainment...) So how's that? Have I cut out everything except Dick and Jane books?

For business purposes I legally adopted my mother's maiden name. In court, my certified birth certificate, driver's license, a decade of tax returns, and BOTH my parents were not enough evidence to prove I was who I claimed to be. My best friend, a Cuban immigrant, with broken English, verbally claimed knowing me for 20 years. The court granted my request.

That elephant article reminds me of my 75 year old father, who has Alzheimer's and his favorite saying: "The world would be a great place if we could just get rid of stupid people!" I keep warning him that, THAT would eliminate an awful lot of people. He always smiles and gets a twinkle in his eyes when he replies; "I don't mind solitude!" I'm with it Pal-kun. I'd laugh if it wasn't so sad.

Kissing of any kind is nice. Depending on the situation, I may give my partner a little peck but there are times when I have been so far down my partner's throat that I can tickle his feet - from the inside!

I used to manage a health club and I saw grown men that shaved their bodies bald and men that were more hairy than most gorillas. To my eye, a man without any body hair looks like a prepubescent boy - like a baby bird without feathers. Just very...odd. But what's FAR worse is when a hairy guy just shaves his pubes, and that's it - it's like his bald spot slid down his body! UGH! What I don't understand is why so many men find hair offensive? Give me a caveman any day!

I don't see anything wrong with it. I've dated other races and had a partner for several years of another race. I encouraged my kids to date other races and have babies of every color. I wish we humans would learn how to live together, as in TOGETHER...

Tipdin replied to Sir Galahad's topic in The Lounge
My TV set is on for 1 hour a week. Seeker ..for the story line! The fact that the lead character is the stuff of wet dreams is just a happy accident. No, really...! Okay, fine. I lied. -
..and the truly blessed that have them.

After attempting suicide, (and spending a week in a coma) I felt a need to explain to my family.

It is? You mean I done good? Will you marry me? Or at least tell my partner that I am FAR more wonderful than he says I am?

I guess I'm old school. If you've got your lips, or hand wrapped around some guys big 'ol, you-know-what, either blowin or jackin, that's sex. NOT THAT THAT'S A BAD THING.... But everyone needs to draw their own line. I used to know a male couple who were both in their eighties. One of them had never gotten a good schtupping from his partner so does that mean he died a virgin? Lips and hands don't count? Gee, I wonder if I could convince my partner of that....hmmm.

Would you have sex with someone who was HIV positive?
Tipdin replied to Menzoberranzen's topic in The Lounge
At this point in my life, no. After seeing countless friends die of AIDS, after being an AIDS Buddy, after seeing what happens? I can, will, and do love some people who are HIV positive, and one that has AIDS, but I will not knowingly expose myself to something like that. -
There is no doubt in my mind that we can come back. That our souls or personality, or whatever you want to call it stays in tact after our body dies is a stone cold, hard fact for me. There have been many, many situations in my life that cannot be simply explained away. People that know me and have been around me for any length of time know that weird things just sort of happen around me. Odd things that just don't fit into the 'normal' experience of life. As surely as I breathe air, I know that when I leave this life and body, I will cross over into the arms of all my loved ones that crossed over before me. It is a belief that is like the stones used in the foundation of my house, I can feel it, slap it and kick at it and it will stay right there, immovable and solid. A belief that is ACTUALLY as palpable as stone. Period. How, why, when, all that junk, well, that's all a complete mystery. I don't have a clue about how it all works, I just know that it does. What is within us influences us. The lives we have lived, the people we have know, the knowledge we have had, it's all in there. For the most part, it's locked in there, but some of it can sort of leak out or slip through the cracks and influence our choices or behavior. During the early eighties, I was an AIDS buddy, taking care of men who were dying. I always told my buddy to be sure and look up my family, that they're waiting for him. More than a few times, while my buddy was breathing his last few breaths, I told him to relax, to let my family embrace him, to let them warm and support him, that it was his turn to be carried. That he will be well loved by many. I could feel them. Explain it however you want. Really. There will be no changing my mind so it doesn't matter how you want explain it. They were there. My family, his family, everyone we knew that had already died was there, supporting us. I could feel them. Sometimes it was even physical, I could actually feel warmth and individual hands pressing on me. I could even tell whose hands some of them belonged to. I have seen a man float above his bed, just a few inches, but his body shivered or vibrated so fast, that it seemed to blur as it lifted off his bed. There were only three people in that room but I could feel the crowd that I could not see. I could pick out voices of people I knew who had died years earlier. I could smell my grandmother's perfume. There were a lot of people there that I could not see, but I knew WHO was there. We all felt it. Again, anyone can explain it any which way they want, it will make no difference AT ALL to me. Debate and argue your points until your last breath. My believe is absolute. It cannot be altered. When we die, we're simply moving to a new place, just like when we move from one house or apartment to another. It is that much of a non-issue to me. The act of dying, in itself, means almost nothing at all. Just a change of residence.

Can we print answers to that question? You mean besides the OBVIOUS?! Like the menz? WHAT ELSE IS THERE? I'm being flippant, but for me, there really isn't much difference between being straight and gay. All the same rules and regulations apply. All the same responsibilities and goals. I see more cons than pros, sorry. The invisibility and prejudice really hampers a gay person's life. The things I like about being gay would probably be censored if I tried to enumerate them. Other than that, I don't see how something is ABOUT being gay. There are many things I like, but there is a so-called equivalent in the straight world. A gay bar. A gay novel. A gay romantic film. My life has been very much like that of most men, working, dating, raising kids, and planning for the future. Maybe I'm so integrated into the 'normal' world that I don't understand the question... Even my gay friends tell me that I make a terrible gay person so I guess I'm an outsider inside my own group. I cringe when I hear Patsy Kline, I don't own a single Judy Garland CD, I have no interest in... A HA! I know what I like about being gay that is unique to us... How do I say this without sounding VERY naughty? NOT THAT I PARTAKE IN THESE SITUATIONS.... I like that so many men are so willing to enjoy the company of other men in whatever location they may find themselves; i.e. steam room, nude beach, bathroom, movie theater. Straight or gay, men like a good wank and it's SO easy to find company for such activity. I used to manage a health club and I was required to break up the 'intimate activity' in the steam rooms or wherever. I would see the same guys come down from the locker rooms and join their wife and kids before leaving! So I guess that would be the thing I like about being gay, that it seems that SOO VERY MANY men, who are supposedly straight, will indulge in sex with another man. I don't know, that's all I can come up with, sorry.

I worked in the corporate world for a long time so I have a million of them! take-aways on your plate an opportunity for a best practice I really want to help, but... you need to partner... It's not you, really... call me sometime... his manhood was inflamed peepee I don't know, just cuz...

Depends on the circumstances, but I tend to isolate myself. I'll hike for hours through the hills and forest. A long soak in the steam room at the gym is good, or I'll sit in the hot tub until I'm going to pass out, fantasizing about some guy who would rush to my aide... If all else fails, ice cream, chocolate sauce and a good movie.
