ATTUNGA PART 13. “Five – one – one, and it's nearly eight km.” “Nine minutes twenty seconds.” “Nine minutes fifty seconds.” “You won't get there in nine-twenty. I'll bet TransCom isn't even that fast. I'm going for ten minutes fifteen seconds.” The trio hadn't played this TransCom game of racing from one sector of Attunga to another for ages and Wirrin thought Thom was so optimistic he must have forgotten half the strategies. “That long?” Thom and Calen gave each other dubious look. Wirri

Wow! Thanks for the link Wolflady. That incredible explosive moment of the baby dolphin's birth is 'awesome' in the old sense of the word.

  5. Go ahead with the next quote Andy. You got the title - which is, after all, the aim of the game.
  6. Is it Elvis Cole? The tough Private Detective in Robert Crais' series. I don't know the name of the first book without looking it up though. - 'Voodoo', 'Last Detective', 'LA Requiem' are a few I can recall.
  7. Yo DD!!! HAVE A GREAT DAY!
  8. Lol. I worked it out from the clue but searched to confirm because I thought it didn't match the tone of the quote.
  9. Amazing!
  10. I think this is one of those problematic situations where no matter what is done there will always be different views. The number of 'likes' doesn't really matter - you adjust your use of them accordingly. if there aren't enough you become more discerning (or apply them retroactively on a day when you're not quite so active).
  11. Stone the crows!!! Which day did Trevor and Shane visit Healesville? They coulda dropped in for a cuppa. Lol. Healesville is my hometown and we're rather proud of our Sanctuary. One of the most spectacular displays is called 'Birds In Flight' where you watch hawks and falcons flying close. The heart-stopper is having a mighty wedge-tailed eagle with a three meter wingspan come stooping only a couple of feet over your head. One of the keepers visits my home and not long ago she arrived with a baby black wallaby in a day-pack (artificial pouch). Totally neat. It had been taken to the Sanctuary after it's mother had been killed by a car and required feeding every two hours, day and night, so couldn't be left unattended at the care center. Echidnas occasionally wander through my block and every morning at sunrise the resident family of kookaburras gives me a wake-up call.
  12. Greetings to you Wildheart.
  13. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TREBS! Hope you're continually blessed with the things that matter.
  14. Bad Moon Rising! Gods, that's a powerful song. TNX Arpeggio!
  15. Yay! The Cape Otway Lighthouse - longest functioning lighthouse in Australia - thousands of people turned up for the decommissioning when it changed to modern style lighting. There is an historic tour and I listened in disbelief when the guide said the whole thing is built without mortar - just incredible skill on the part of the stoneworker. They were sure cruising through dangerous waters here - hundreds of people drowned in numerous wrecks close by.
  16. It has a bit of a Charles DeLint feel about it but I don't think that's right.
  17. Yep! Andy's got it. The ideas E E 'Doc' Smith poured out in the 1930s were mind boggling. Your turn Andy.
  18. Nope! - several decades earlier than our recently departed RB. I look on it as THE space opera, depicting the clash of two mighty civilizations.
  19. 'Two thousand million or so years ago two galaxies were colliding; or, rather, were passing through each other.

Thanks DD. It's neat to know that people are enjoying the story.I went to Monkey Mia a few years ago, saw the dolphins there and learnt how amazing they are. The Dreamtime Concerto is a construct for the story. I probably should have checked to see if a real one exists - but I doubt it.

Thanks again Steve. Yes, they're going to Earth. It's another example of the characters (in this case Sonic) taking over and introducing an unexpected element (from the author's pov)to the story. The comet is a figurative one - Sonic's reaction to the idea of flying through space at speed.
  22. Yay! Bilbo makes his famous speech to his fellow hobbits at his eleventy-leventh (if that's how you spell it) goodbye party. LOTR.

ATTUNGA PART 12. “I feel like a Dead Dingo!” Wirrin and Thom plonked themselves down beside Calen. They were all tired from the momentous day, but after all his energy and effort it was no wonder Calen was extra exhausted. “Do you want to go to sleep or can you wait for the special meal Thom's got planned?” “I won't sleep. My brain's going round in circles.” Normally that would draw rude remarks but at the moment Wirrin and Thom were rather in awe of Calen. “No wonder. What was it like
  24. Mr Bones? Grr! - that should say something - but it doesn't!!
  25. Hmm! - feels like this might be a story on GA?
