In interesting start, but so much of this chapter was melancholy and sadness, it just dripped from the page. A love hidden but acknowledged, and a father's betrayal of both wife/mother and son; but why?

Much like @drsawzall, I too have never understood the attraction to the tattoo or piercing that so many have. While I can see some on others that I think are attractive, just never had the desire to try myself. I am glad that Jason and Gavin were honest with the kids, that way no undercurrent of weird vibes being noticed, but Matthew's reaction is certainly understandable. And much like @Summerabbacat, I admire Irma for her fortitude in dealing with these " boys " and the discussions, she is certainly in a class by herself. Slav and Rory are finding their way and seem determined to stay together, let's hope they succeed. Communication will be key.

Not sure how I missed this, but I did. Rory knows what he wants, just isn't sure how feasible it is as of yet. He and Slav know they want to be together. Slav has a great deal of common sense, and I am glad that Rory listens to him. Gavin and Jason are finding themselves more in sync; and they truly want to take care of those in their lives.

Nick and Brad are getting more than an eyeful. Nick is finding his people and Brad is along for the ride while he decides what his people are. LOL Rick is right, Corcoran could walk past someone and if he is made up, they wouldn't recognize him at all; on the other hand, he knows what all the key players in Rick's life looks like. Rick and Helen are both putting themselves out there, let's hope they are ready for what comes. I feel sick.

Yes, I suppose a dead unicorn might keep a few customers away; or draw them in to see the carcass. The twins did not seem to know what the beast were that had been chasing them, and this is obviously not where they were from, but where did they come from and where did they end up?

Granger immediately realized the issues with Weston and did what was needed to alleviate them. Weston had nerves, mostly about playing the fool in front of Granger. Glad that Granger, Carmella, Cavendish and Elizabeth have all reached a detente. And it appears that perhaps the marriage will be good for Cavendish and Elizabeth. It will certainly help to eliminate some of the gossip that they have both been exposed to. A honeymoon in France, even before the peace treaty is full signed, the lives of the rich and powerful in whatever century they live. Granger had the foresight to make sure that he used his connections to help access the places that he needed to see. This removes him from a great deal of suspicion on why he is making the rounds of the naval bases. A new conquest in sight, and I feel that he will once again prevail. Bravo @Mark Arbour

Lovely chapter, and I have to say, Uncle Vernon, Louis, and I would have enjoyed meandering through places like this looking and exploring. A thought occurred to me, could Uncle Vernon have hidden the figure in some place they used to visit, you know just added something to a Great House that they were touring? Not even really sure how feasible that would be; but he obviously, did not leave it to Louis, and if has to be somewhere. Like that Louis and Charlie are both trying to find things beyond sex that they both enjoy. They need to find other activities of this burgeoning relationship will go nowhere. I personally never found baking or cooking with someone else relaxing or relationship building, but maybe it will be for them. Do worry that if there is something truly wrong with Tom and something happens to him, Ian will just suffer another loss and slide further back into depression. I am glad that Tom is trying to help him, and maybe they are just one of those couples that start off by accident and really succeed. Enjoying this all so much.

I certainly understand Sawyer's confusion. No one here ever seems to be fully honest with each other. Actually, Tom was perhaps more honest with Sawyer at this moment than most; and yet even then, he left so much out. I truly hope that Tom is wrong about how he views some of the relationship between Frank and Dante; because, if he is right, all hell may well break lose at some point. Because of what Frank and Tom have both told him, Dante is much more aware of the issues with Blaise than Sawyer or perhaps almost anyone else is or has been for a long time. I do wonder about Blaise; does he even acknowledge to himself that he caused the wreck that killed Anthony? Or has he just wiped that from his memory? Sawyer and Tom fit together in ways more than almost any other pairing in this mixed-up family, and yet even with that, Tom can't be fully honest with him. Is he protecting him or himself? Or is he just so used to hiding things, it just happens. I don't know if I want to scream, or slap someone with a two by four...

Well, the situation with Casey while not what he really wanted, sounds like it could be good for him and work out as well. I know he was hoping to find his uncle, but hell, he could have left the country for work, or no telling what. Nick is so excited, and glad that Brad has decided to go along for the ride. I am sure that Adam will do what he can to keep an eye on them, but with a crowd the size of what they will be dealing how hard that will be. Rick will be on duty, and he at least we suspect will be Corcoran's target. But he could decide to go after someone he cares about again as well. Let's hope all of the good guys come through this okay. I thought pancakes were universal.

So glad that you are feeling better. I think most have little routines that help them when they are feeling down. None of mine are working, more because my cedar fever has been so bad this year; some years barely bothers me and others, I feel like I would need to die to get better. Oh, a secret, I think @Bill W might be on to something; the threatened punishment definitely sounds like something a woman would threaten a man with, so... I don't think that either Carolyn or Alice understand how important image can be in the bigger cities; an Alice arriving like that is the right image. Dante understands this, but will he be able to explain it to them, we will see. Could Dante, Frank, and Alice exist in a relationship where all three of them were involved on some level? Might be more than interesting to try. Blaise really creeps me out now, every time he makes an appearance. All I can think about his him fondling Anthony and causing the wreck. Color Sawyer very confused, but I do believe that Tom will do what he can to help him. Alice is going to have to make some decisions in the end; decisions that impact her, Frank, Dante, and others more than her own family. Excellent chapter.

Lord, Will's headboard must be the size of a very small wooden block by now. So that that Will has Marie and vice versa, being in that high pressure environment means that they have someone that understands and will be there for each other. Sky is hot and glad that he decided to jump the fence; and since I have no doubt that Will is correct, it will double his chances for a date on Saturday night. Of course, I am sure he will settle down and marry to make sure the family name is carried on, but he can keep a nice man on the side. LOL Julian is such an ass to Travis, I keep waiting for him to lose it and cold cock the s.o.b. And I swear, Kendo would just park himself up Travis's ass if he could. He is seriously annoying me.

Interesting story, well written as always. Amazing how powerful our sense of smell and taste can be; what they make us feel and remember is always interesting.

I was so sure that Brian's wreck was going to be serious and the impetuous to change him, but the desire for knowledge and a better ability to serve Greg proved the greater reason. The ability to absorb the knowledge of those you are taking blood from would be something that would tempt me greatly. I know there need to be a few laws, but Greg is going to run into issues if he tries to regulate behavior too significantly. Excellent chapter.

Well, at least it appears that the murder had nothing to do with Corcoran, just a run of the mill knife fight and an unlucky stab. Corcoran does appear to be getting bolder, is it because he truly doesn't care, or is Rick right and he wants to go out in a blaze of glory. I can't wait to see what spectacular the dancers have ready for the police float. Benevetti may be an ass, but I don't think he will let anything happen to a fellow cop, even a gay one.

Much like @drsawzall, I am curious about the idea of a water mage or a druid being involved. Generally, those that use water or have it as an affinity tend to be calm and more on the good or positive side, so this would be an outlier. I do think that all of the mummies must have had some ability, even if it was inactive. I think perhaps someone or some group did something to steal or drain the ability. Why it turned them to mummies, I have no clue. Kellen and his dreams trouble me. I worry that Damien will come unglued at the wrong moment. Was Nora so browbeaten by the first pair of detectives that this group just treating her like a member of the team unleashing some of her potential, or was she hiding her ability from the first pair? Atlas confuses me, I just can't get a read on him. Palmer had some good ideas, but he seemed to be quick to dismiss his contribution, why?

Talk about your Blast from the past.

Well, Adam got to see what had Rick all a twitter earlier in the day. Rick got to meet Adam's boss and his partner and a couple of friends that he had meet before. While Rick had been to the bar before and seen a few drag acts over the years; this place was packed, and he hadn't ever experienced anything like what he saw on stage; and then he got to be in the act as well. Funny the line about being a police officer, but then that can be a standard joke in some acts when they pull this. And I did warn that Corcoran might pull something; but even I didn't see that coming. Sending a drink to Rick was a little over the top. Of course, Rick will never be able to get to him before he slips away, the place is just too crowded. I was afraid of an attack on Rick or Adam; but this is almost worse, it is just another time that Rick would have been close to Corcoran and not able to nab him. This is going to start playing havoc with his psyche. Rick will have to go after him, but let's hope nothing else happens. Just how many lives does Corcoran have...

This is a genre that is very hard to do well. We have some authors that have tried and done a great job, but I wish a few more would try their hand at it. Thanks for the deep dive as always.

I honestly thought that Tom did what he did with Blaise to protect Frank, and I think on some level he did, but he did because the thought Frank was damaged. I think that Tom is not going to be happy that he put up with Blaise all of these years when he really shouldn't have done so, at least for that reason. I am worried about Henry, if Blaise is losing interest in Tom, don't want him turning toward Henry. Dante, Frank, and Tom need to get with Alice as soon as possible.
