Not too freaked out?
centexhairysub commented on Robert Hugill's story chapter in Not too freaked out?
Well, first reaction from this chapter, is that Damian is not excited at all that his mother is home. Why? Is it just how much she works, or is it something else? And honestly, what makes Ludo think that Jackie would want custody of Damian? She works a ton, her job seems to come first, and if she is having an affair, that leaves just a smaller amount of time to take care of a child. Sounds as if Ludo is the primary caregiver, would Jackie really want to take that on? Ludo never did anything, and that one glimpse pushes him over the edge like that? That must have been some sight to behold. Can't wait to see what happens next. -
Staying With Brendan and Beyond
centexhairysub commented on Lee Wilson's story chapter in Staying With Brendan and Beyond
Nick went through so much, but he persevered and, in the end, made a life for himself that he seemed to be truly happy with. How much worse could his life and those of his siblings been had he not been smart enough to go looking for someone that he only knew as a name his mother hand crossed out in her address book. He proved that bravery comes in many forms. -
Jake was right to go, no sense in tempting fate, and his connection to Danny and Nate might make them targets as well. That said, will be Jake be back, only time will tell. I do think he cares for Danny but taking on someone as young as Danny when he is only a few years older is lot for anyone to contemplate. Danny has taken a few big steps to leaving childhood behind. He has fallen in love, not infatuation, but true love. He has come to terms and been honest with himself about who he is and what he wants. And he has been honest with probably the most important other person in his life. He may be in love with Jake, but he loves Nate. Can see trouble ahead, mother is not happy about him staying out all night, even if she is starting to acknowledge that he is growing up. Stepdad is going to be an issue that has to be dealt with as well. And I am not sure we have seen the last of Frank and his so called friend.

Well, I certainly did not see that one coming. I am guessing that you can bond with more than one person or group? I am sure that Marc is going to meet the man from his dreams at some point, and will bond with him, can he do so and still be bonded to the twins? I am glad that Janek, Hugo, and Rory are getting this new ship, of course, that means that they will be in danger, but at least they will be there together to support each other. Can't wait to see how the deal with Christopher and his family plays out. Is he involved or does he even know? Can't wait to see what happens next.

Well, despite the bloodshed, well deserved might I add at the end, this meeting went off better than I actually expected it to go. You just knew there would be one idiot in the bunch and leave it to a right-wing religious nut job to be it. Why do I suspect the twins may well be gay? Greg is wise because he knows that he doesn't know it all and seeks help, only the truly wise do this. Why are there no female Baroness or Baronetess? I demand equality. LOL Well, done, can't wait to see what happens next.

Well, Will appears to have gotten lucky for the most part. I mean Poster appears the be the frat douche that no one can stand, but the rest seem to be pretty good guys. I am glad that they all set Poster straight, so to speak. No one cares that he has money or not, but constantly fronting about it is just annoying has hell. The birthday party was nice, glad that the two groups seemed to all hit it off okay. And love that Will is so good with the little ones. Marie's presents were spot on. Who will be the first gone? Who will be the party animal? Who will Will sleep with? All questions that we want the answers to....

Can't wait.

Well, Ralph made his first stand, maybe not an outright battle but a skirmish at least. But this will just be the first move, at least on the parent's part, they will find something to strike back at Ralph with. OMG, what do you mean just do what the hell you want? Why that would lead chaos, confusion, perhaps even horror of horrors, happiness. People that care as much as his parents do what others think, feel, and say, can never just be themselves and be happy, they are always on display. I think it will be the twins that give Ralph the final push, something will happen, and he will realize that as long as he has them and their support, that will be what really matters. Lovely chapter and so nice to come home to this.

A couple of great stories and a few that I need to take a gander at.

Frank and his friend know what they did, and they have to think that only Jake does as well; this would make him the prime suspect, at least in their eyes. A great day that sort of just went flat, like the swells can do sometime. Danny is growing up, but not as much as he thinks, but probably more than his mother realizes. I do think the situation with his stepfather is going to come to a head and that may well be a bigger blow up than anything so far. Excellent chapter, can't wait to see what happens next.

Introducing Nick Taft
centexhairysub commented on Lee Wilson's story chapter in Introducing Nick Taft
This could be nice, some additional background, but you have to wonder with what we learned in the last story; what happened in the past to these two cretins that made them think treating any child, much less their own, that was was okay. Nick proved to be more resourceful than one would have suspected. I don't know why, but I never thought about Kathy as being the one that couldn't keep her hands off the neighborhood kids. I mean it does happen, but always a little bit of a shock when you find out about it, I guess that says something about us all.- 23 comments

Well, Jackie may not have understood why Gordy being naked with a 10 y/o was a big deal, but to be so totally unconcerned borders on neglect. Already invested in the story. LOL I really like Ludo and Damian seems more than self-aware for a 10-year-old. I have always thought while it is nice to have couple friends, you need a few or at least one good friend that is your friend separate from your spouse or significant other. You need someone that you can talk and share things with that won't feel the need to take a side; and if they do, you know it is based on something other than incidental information. Love those that use that old, your just jealous excuse for any number of things, when in reality, no not jealous just tired of being put so far down the list of things that are cared about, that you can't even make the top ten.

A comment was made that there were rumors that this had occurred before, so there could be other victims. If the kids know the rumor, you can be sure that the police do as well. But that said, I do share your concern.

If Jake has managed to give Danny the gift of truly seeing the beauty of the world around him and the ability to look at everyday sights and see what is beneath the surface, then he has given him a great gift. That ability often separates good artist from great ones. Lachie did good, but like Danny, I worry about it coming back to bite any of them in the ass. Danny needs to be able to talk to his mother without losing his cool; that is part of what growing up is about. Hmmm, so even Nate has weird vibes being around Danny's stepfather, that might be more important than we know. Excellent chapter, can't wait to see what happens next.

Already drawing us all in with these complex and interesting characters. The writing as always is good and this chapter flowed really well. I can already see this will be a three-hanky story no matter what. When you introduce the human elements into an actual event, how you feel can change, but the horror of the incident remains unchanged.

It took me several settings to finish this story, and I had to spend a few days thinking about how I truly felt about it. Ultimately, I am going to recommend this story to others. The characters and the quality of the writing are the driving issues for me to recommend this story. Still not fully sure how to categorize it even now. But the superior storytelling and compelling characters are the touchstone and the true reason to read this story. This story asks some truly uncomfortable questions and while it gives you some answers, there are others that are left open to your interpretation and beliefs. I found it hard to read some of the chapters and questioned how I felt about more than one after reading it but the need to know how this played out and if the two main protagonists ever came back together, drove me forward. There are more than a few turns, somersaults, twist, and twirls to keep even those unsure of how they feel going forward. Take a chance, give yourself time to get into the story, and keep reading. In the end, contemplate the questions that this story forces you to consider.

Well, as expected, Orion handled everything with dignity and grace in dealing with the police. Why is there always one ass among every few police officers? It seems there is always one that feels that the badge simply makes them above the very law they are supposed to enforce. Quinn needs to let Orion be Orion. And the help with school is great, he can get ahead and be ready to move forward with a little help from Mrs. Stalter. Hope that everything stays smooth, but I have to believe there is still drama coming.

A truly unexpected conclusion but one that fits in ways as you look back. A new group to learn about and learn to appreciate Mithras, although not sure that I truly do myself. What does Mithras get out of the so-called deaths? Is there an energy release that benefits Mithras? The juxtaposition of the older couple coming together after all those years apart, and the younger couple just starting out is sticking. This is a story that I will have to think about for a while to decide how I truly feel about it. Well written and the character development was astounding.
-
So, the greed and corruption from the past has destroyed another ship and marooned another crew, but how will they handle the lottery?
-
Ah so even though the citizens of Earth grew and changed; the technology that they possess would damage or kill Mithas. Thad was chosen but only to be the one that acted as the instrument of Mithras, just as his grandfather was.
-
Thad's dreams and whatever it is that he is to find has to do with those that are coming ever closer...
-
Thad discovers that he isn't as alone or even the only one in his family that feels like he does. I feel that history may replay itself, and I will be honest, won't be happy if it does. I do worry about the other's that are coming.
-
I thought that Earth was destroyed but obviously some remained, took a long time to reach back out, wonder what they expect to find.
-
The community prospered and when those that came in from another that had turned their back, the numbers grew even larger. What will happen to bring it back down or will it? Life on this planet is truly like wheel, each few generations seem to pass through the same set of circumstances. What is to come.

Sounds like the Bennett's may be in a for a world of hurt; and this time it probably won't even be any fault of Christopher Bennett. Marc seems to be drawing closer to the twins than I expected him to, he knows his true mate is out there, does he think he can have his cake and eat it to?
