    Valhalla

Your story was powerfully told. All the infantrymen who gave their lives either from physical or mental wounds from combat are America's true heros. Freedom isn't Free is more than just a slogan. It is a hard fact, purchased with the lives of heros on battlefields here and in remote corners around the world. My Combat Infantryman Badge came with a high cost as a guy on my fireteam was mortally wounded on the day of my first enemy contact in Vietnam. It could have been anyone of us.
  3. RobV & MikeL & Terry reported the repeated lines which were the only glaring errors I saw produced by CJ's whirlwind explosion of expository production. It was a nice long chapter with some interesting filler. It was nice that Shane got to reconnect with his remaining family and friends and that Trevor got to meet them. That both cats are now in Gray's plain sight and that he has assets and explosives ready to deploy is not a good thing. Nothing was mentioned of Joel and his fiancee nor of what is happening half a world away. There are a ton of loose ends crying to be resolved and there are only 5 chapters left. Bridget, Gray and his goons, the cartel and a certain busybody newspaper reporter are all poised for action and somehow, someway, I hope it all blows up in their faces without harming our heros.

    Gobsmacked

Why do I still have that knot of fear in my stomach that refuses to go away and just seems to get tighter and tighter. It must be due to some cruel and abusive bastard..... Gray and company appeared well positioned to wreak havoc and he came by car as he was carrying explosives. Also a silent radio beacon appears to be on Trev & Shane's cat... Just 5 more chapters and I'm worn out with worry already. A long chapter but no word about Joel and his sweetheart. A lot of loose ends to tie up. November 2012, is five years in their future. Wonder if they make it back for the eclipse?

    Innocence Lost

Shay has manifested another power outburst that affected the sharplings. Did it also have an effect on Mira? Plenty of ways the plot can go and I am still hopelessly hooked.

Reads like a real Grim fanasy!
  9. hh5 wrote: Yeah!!! Congrats!! Now how many of those CD made it to 30 years or died of CD Rot before its time? I still have all mine except 2 that my son lost. Of course I did not leave them in a car out in the sun and took care of them. They sound great!
  10. The Beatles were right in my generation and Sheron is right, Come Together is great. But I really like about 2 dozen more including: The following which starts out in B&W and goes to color: And the answer to all your questions.....
  11. CJ you know I appreciate you and really love this story, even if it has driven me nearly insane at times!
  12. Well maybe Bridget's luck is starting to turn. The asset list it seems is about to be published. Gonzo set up surveillance on a business that was supposed to be a trip wire, but somehow lucked out with honest locals. Additionally, it seems that Grays team merely looked at the boat to try to determine if it was the one that had made the Southern Ocean crossing after being stripped by the pirates. Finally, Bridget learned that more than a few of the other members of the cartel disliked her. While these are crumbs and the sea witch deserves a really horrendous ending, I guess this will have to suffice. As for as CJ's intense desire for feedback (adulation) we all bow to the master's wishes! All Hail CJ! In all seriousness, thanks for all the hard work, research, rewrites and sheer inventiveness the epic story has shown so far!
  13. Windows 95 was the first PC operating system that went mainstream for home and office use. When MS was about to release it, the joke going around was that it would take 95 floppy discs to just to load it onto a machine. (Direct downloads on an 8 baud modem was out of the question at the time!) It did come out on CD-rom and floppy disc (fewer than 95 but a sizable number!) So even someone who was put away 20 years ago would be in an alien tech enviroment. Smart phones are another whole new technology. I can remember when my family got it's first black and white television in November 1952. We've come a long way!
  14. CD-ROM was a big deal and a parallel development. However, digitalizing music on a reliable medium (remember digital tape?) was the engine that made it all profitable and cost effective. We have certainly lived through some interesting times from a tech POV.
  15. When CD's came out I was ready to replace my LP's and cassettes most of which had been played to death. SO CD's were a gift for me. Of course when PC's came along I loaded them all on my hard drive. So now I have about 3500 songs in my iTunes library....BTW many of the recordings are of classical music.
  16. Yeah, right! The second one about the linguistics prof was my favorite!
  17. Above post: "Does Darius seem lost to anyone else? It's like he made this great decision to really help out that deserving kid get into the Naval Service Academy; then he just seemed to lose his way. Is there something more going on there then we realize?" Good point!
  18. We got a chapter in Paternity today, so maybe in another week???? Based on his post in another thread, probably at least 2......edited 10-1-12 Another week to go? At least the Cards are providing me some diversion. NLDS starts today! Cards up 2 games to 1 and can finish up today in DC. Well, it took until Friday and 5 games with a near death defying spotting the Nats 6 runs and then having to make those runs up, but the Mojo of the Cards held and they came from behind and won a heartbreaker for DC. Today it's on to the Giants. I'm hoping a Granger episode or a CAP chapter is posted tonight! PLEASE! PRETTY PLEASE!!!
  19. Hooray, hooray! Chapter 65 is up and those of us in end-stage CAP withdrawal got our fix! All Hail our esteemed author/CAP creator Mark Arbour on a nifty chapter that showed Brad really does get it concerning his relationship with Will. Unfortunately, JP must be feeling fairly frustrated. After criticizing the family for infighting, it erupts again while still at table. Darius, JJ, Will, Robbie and also a few others may find their Christmas stockings a little lighter this year. Thanks Mark for another interesting chapter!

    Chapter 65

Well JP voices his thoughts on family in-fighting and then after everyone is feeling bad, Robbie comes in and the in-fighting starts all over again. How frustrating for JP! The good news is that Brad really seems to get it regarding his relationship with Will. Will calling Robbie on his relationship with his mom was big reminder that no one in this family can be pompous without being hoisted on their on petard.
  21. I came across an interesting article on compact discs. I have about 500 of them and started buying them in 1983 from BMG. Today most people use iTunes, Amazon or other digital downloads, nevermind just browsing over to youtube.... http://www.nbcnews.com/technology/gadgetbox/30-years-ago-cd-started-digital-music-revolution-6167906
  22. Happy Birthday!
  23. Andy I'm certainly happy to hear you will be paid for the extra work. I wonder did the person you called Margaret get forgottten? The one who declined to help you but then went to the boss when you told her no? There is more than one problem person in your department....
