I enjoyed your story which I've read over the past couple of days from start to finish. Coop matured a lot, but for a smart guy, he sure let his dick do a lot of the thinking. I know, most guys in their late teens are guided by the little head, but he managed to ace most of his courses and develop inot a pretty fair VB player while drinking way too much and bed hopping, which is just a little improbable. The sex scenes were smokin'. The drama queen reactions and descriptions were bitchin. The boozing was drunk. I came back and read this story after reading the beginning of Coop's story set some years down the road to check up on the characters. Sebastion, hmmm.

As always, another interesting but introspective chapter. The Calvert problem is a worry, but George did warn him. Hopefully Calvert will cool it with Chartely aboard on the trip to England. Nelson aboard Belvidera as Commodore on a mission to evacuate Brits at Elba gives George another opportunity to know Nelson better and for Mark to portray Nelson and perhaps some of his arrogance. As usual I await the next installment.

Kristen lives, Gathan is not emotionally wrecked, Will grows up some more, John is worried about being too emotionally involved and JP's cancer is still untreated... And it is still just summer 2001. Rome in summer can be stifling. Even the pope leaves town.

Finally. Poor Trevor's travails without a single sexual encounter finally end after more than 80 chapters. It's gotta be some kind of record. Does this mean, the rest of the story will be anti-climatic?

Chapter 17 - What Will Be
Daddydavek commented on comicfan's story chapter in Chapter 17 - What Will Be
Yep, Scott is an older hunky guy that really floats Charlie's boat. The chemistry is there, will they take the time to let a real relationship develop? -
Interesting how society changes. When I was growing up in the 1950's anyone over age 60 was old and really old people mostly died off by their early 80's. Now I personally know of 3 people over age 100 and all of them drove their cars well past age 95. My mom is going strong at age 88. Stereotypically, young gay males are portrayed as thinking anyone over age 25 is over the hill. Now most of the Stonewall generation is pushing 60 and even 70. And, this past week New York legalized gay marriage! Now if we could just get Congress to act like adults and put the debt ceiling-budget deficit talks into perspective and get off their ideological soapboxes and realize a mix of judicious cuts and targeted tax increases are both necessary to fix the problem. (I know, if wishes were horses, beggars would ride.)

Chapter 16 - Time for the Truth
Daddydavek commented on comicfan's story chapter in Chapter 16 - Time for the Truth
When it rains it pours and sometimes things get a little sticky...like relationships with best friends that are hung up on you, a beat-up nephew getting an eyeful, an all-knowing mom and a hunky older guy that floats your boat. Other than that the story is sort of dragging. NOT! -
"Air France Flight 4590, Concorde service to New York" and then the picture too. How interesting to see you weave the disparate elements of your story against the backdrop of the then current events. I remember the shock at that horrible crash where all were killed. However, I hope MatthewK is right and Gathan talked Kristen out of boarding that ill-fated plane as her character has a special panache and believability that I have found refreshing. However, there is still the issue of a long-distance romance with Gathan off to Stanford in the fall...

Chapter 15 - The Fun Never Stops
Daddydavek commented on comicfan's story chapter in Chapter 15 - The Fun Never Stops
If Rick Jr is black and blue, I hate to think what Barbara will do or did to Rick Sr..... Ted is a distraction that Charlie could do without just now, but isn't that just like life, always something getting in the way. Scott is going to have to do some 'splaining if he really wants to get somewhere with Charlie, as Charlie is clueless. Yikes, you really know how to yank our chains, now we wait for the next installment. -
Interesting meet up and disposition of Chartley. George certainly has his ups-and-downs, especially since the loss of Travers. His love life, family issues, naval politics, court politics, and the fact that there is a war on all make for a unique backdrop. I eagerly await the next chapter.

I think you have created a sense of realism in Will and John's relationship that is authentic, as each is still a very young teen, albeit somewhat more experienced than usual. Will in particular is undergoing life altering experiences at a fairly rapid pace and having to deal with real world issues at a dizzying pace. Yet he pays attention to his dad, pop and Stef as well as John and actually takes time to process what is happening. Much more mature than the usual in-the-moment teen. Will is even thinking ahead to how things will be back in SoCal. Now I wonder what little surprise Stef has??

You do tend to shift speakers without warning or identification which is sometimes confusing. However, I have not had too much trouble and the story is certainly interesting. The money is a little too unbelievable. Their fathers could not have had a separate company worth some 34 billion without there being something shown in their prior tax returns which the lawyers would have. With a net worth like that, the death taxes would be astronomical as well....Even with everything held in trusts, the income used or profits taken would still be taxable soooo!?? A couple of hundred million is a lot. Billions and billions starts to sound like the number of hamburgers sold at Mickey D's. Oprah is only worth a couple of billion (2.4 per Forbes).

Chapter 14 - Scott's View
Daddydavek commented on comicfan's story chapter in Chapter 14 - Scott's View
Unghhh! I just read chapters 1 thru 14 and I get left out in the cold with a cliff-hanger. Interesting set-up. Somehow, I think Charlie is going to need to have another talk with mom.... -
Will is certainly Brad's son. A big dicked slut who has sense enough to lay back an enjoy it when he really has no other option. Even so, he was thinking about his future reactions, another quite mature observation. Will's use of his cell phone also shows he is smart and resourceful. Like someone else mentioned, I too was disappointed not to even get a smidgen of reaction in this chapter from Stef.... We all await the next installment with great anticipation.

An American voice was behind the gun... Brad has some bitter enemies whom he has taken down and some have lots of money. It seems they may have hired some thugs to follow him and his family to exact some revenge. Knowing Brad, and the rest of the clan including Stef and J.P., I would expect they will get to the bottom of this and exact their own retribution. I just hope Brad and his son make it through this latest challenge!

Chartley's wound is grievous and infection is almost unavoidable. The real question is what will George do with the information and what it is. Clearly, Bertie is Bertie, but now it seems the other brother has integrity issues as well! Mark is getting seduced by his power to keep us guessing and wanting more. I of course am completely under his spell.
-
Its interesting that Robbie decided to go to Paris; that Brad laid a 6 million dollar trust on Gathan; that Darius is about as much a smartass as Will; that JP and Kristin are related; that Gathan and Kristin joined the mile high club; and finally, that Stef is still trying to explain to Will that at 14 he still hasn't quite got it all figured out and that it is ok to be 14 and not 18. Having assimilated all that information, I eagerly await to see what happens in Paris with this eclectic mix of generations and personalities.

Chapter 13 - Ghosts from the Past
Daddydavek commented on Nephylim's story chapter in Chapter 13 - Ghosts from the Past
I've read through the first 13 chapters over the past 24 hours and I have to agree that Nephy's story is dark and compelling. However, the ending of Chapter 13 is way too much trauma for River, nevermind Silver... I am afraid to start on chapter 14. Perhaps I shall work up to it after awhile. My only hope is that there are 13 more chapters and then Enigma II, so there is a future and hopefully it is not completely bleak. -
Gar/Will is something else! What, I am not sure, but with his symbiont(?) he has the cumulative memories and experience of numerous prior hosts as revealed by this chapter. Somehow, he sees a difference with Ryan which reminds him of David and he also has noticed a difference in the police response with the inclusion of FBI interest. Somehow I don't see them staying in the current apartment too long. Again, the story has grabbed me! Thanks for the ride!
-
I thought it was a good time to bring this chapter to a close. I would not be surprised to see the next chapter begin well after the skirmish is over with the interval filled in by later recounts. There is a reason for the term "the fog of war" and it is because the chaos of the individual moments become overwhelming. It takes a while to process it all. That is why the best military soldiers and sailors, train so much; so that they don't have to think, just react and seize any opportunity that presents itself. Mark does a great job of describing the action and I think he deliberately chose to end it as he did. A cliff-hanger, maybe, but perhaps if you read the battle description again, you will agree, more would add nothing to the story. Now we just wonder about the outcome and how successful they were. After all, the battle of St. Vincent is still in their future.

Another chapter and still they dance but resolve nothing. Trevor does have his traumatic episode weighing on him, but Shane certainly does not and I still cannot believe that a resolution of their sexuality becoming known to each other, whatever the consequences, has not occurred. I am also completely in the dark about the big think Dirk will reveal to Trevor and for which Jim thinks Trevor will find it sufficient to reconcile with his dad! So many stray parts to this story still unresolved after 76 chapters!
-
Interesting set-up. Now I can't wait for J.P., Brad, John, Gathan and Kristin to get to Paris and see those interactions.
-
While I get that Trevor is repressed and worried about revealing being gay, Shane is not repressed and has been presented as fairly open and not as oblivious as so far implied by the last couple of chapters. I think he would have made a move by now if he was gay or put Trevor's fumbling instances together and made clear that he was not. They are living together on a fairly small boat with no other real distractions. Guys in their late teens of this generation are more in the know and like Joel and his fiancee more accepting.

Gathan is in lust but a long distance romance never seems to work. Brad has his hands full with a precocious almost 14 year old son. I bet he has a lot more heartburn after Will gets his driver's license as this kid really does test boundaries. I guess what goes around comes around as I remember all the fun J.P. had with his kids and Brad especially. Stef is interesting and sentimental as usual. His asking forgiveness from Will was very much in character. I am supposing that the journey to Paris will be a watershed, but hopefully not as traumatic as when Robbie went all those years ago. Then it was J.P. with a false positive HIV, now it's cancer. The possible parallels are mind-boggling.

I've read through the 10 chapters and I have come to the conclusion that Travis is as much the nowhere man as Tyler. Wade is a complication that could be fatal. All of these guys are drifters of a sort, with nothing to anchor them. Life without a purpose, buffeted by the vagaries of life soon seems fairly pointless. Hopefully, the moral of this story will have some merit but I have no clue where any of this is going....
