Its interesting that Robbie decided to go to Paris; that Brad laid a 6 million dollar trust on Gathan; that Darius is about as much a smartass as Will; that JP and Kristin are related; that Gathan and Kristin joined the mile high club; and finally, that Stef is still trying to explain to Will that at 14 he still hasn't quite got it all figured out and that it is ok to be 14 and not 18. Having assimilated all that information, I eagerly await to see what happens in Paris with this eclectic mix of generations and personalities.

I've read through the first 13 chapters over the past 24 hours and I have to agree that Nephy's story is dark and compelling. However, the ending of Chapter 13 is way too much trauma for River, nevermind Silver... I am afraid to start on chapter 14. Perhaps I shall work up to it after awhile. My only hope is that there are 13 more chapters and then Enigma II, so there is a future and hopefully it is not completely bleak.

Gar/Will is something else! What, I am not sure, but with his symbiont(?) he has the cumulative memories and experience of numerous prior hosts as revealed by this chapter. Somehow, he sees a difference with Ryan which reminds him of David and he also has noticed a difference in the police response with the inclusion of FBI interest. Somehow I don't see them staying in the current apartment too long. Again, the story has grabbed me! Thanks for the ride!

I thought it was a good time to bring this chapter to a close. I would not be surprised to see the next chapter begin well after the skirmish is over with the interval filled in by later recounts. There is a reason for the term "the fog of war" and it is because the chaos of the individual moments become overwhelming. It takes a while to process it all. That is why the best military soldiers and sailors, train so much; so that they don't have to think, just react and seize any opportunity that presents itself. Mark does a great job of describing the action and I think he deliberately chose to end it as he did. A cliff-hanger, maybe, but perhaps if you read the battle description again, you will agree, more would add nothing to the story. Now we just wonder about the outcome and how successful they were. After all, the battle of St. Vincent is still in their future.

Another chapter and still they dance but resolve nothing. Trevor does have his traumatic episode weighing on him, but Shane certainly does not and I still cannot believe that a resolution of their sexuality becoming known to each other, whatever the consequences, has not occurred. I am also completely in the dark about the big think Dirk will reveal to Trevor and for which Jim thinks Trevor will find it sufficient to reconcile with his dad! So many stray parts to this story still unresolved after 76 chapters!

Interesting set-up. Now I can't wait for J.P., Brad, John, Gathan and Kristin to get to Paris and see those interactions.

While I get that Trevor is repressed and worried about revealing being gay, Shane is not repressed and has been presented as fairly open and not as oblivious as so far implied by the last couple of chapters. I think he would have made a move by now if he was gay or put Trevor's fumbling instances together and made clear that he was not. They are living together on a fairly small boat with no other real distractions. Guys in their late teens of this generation are more in the know and like Joel and his fiancee more accepting.

Gathan is in lust but a long distance romance never seems to work. Brad has his hands full with a precocious almost 14 year old son. I bet he has a lot more heartburn after Will gets his driver's license as this kid really does test boundaries. I guess what goes around comes around as I remember all the fun J.P. had with his kids and Brad especially. Stef is interesting and sentimental as usual. His asking forgiveness from Will was very much in character. I am supposing that the journey to Paris will be a watershed, but hopefully not as traumatic as when Robbie went all those years ago. Then it was J.P. with a false positive HIV, now it's cancer. The possible parallels are mind-boggling.

I've read through the 10 chapters and I have come to the conclusion that Travis is as much the nowhere man as Tyler. Wade is a complication that could be fatal. All of these guys are drifters of a sort, with nothing to anchor them. Life without a purpose, buffeted by the vagaries of life soon seems fairly pointless. Hopefully, the moral of this story will have some merit but I have no clue where any of this is going....

Thanks for a great story Jack! I know that somehow, someway, many of these characters will re-surface in a later script because they are too interesting and challenging to let just evaporate into the ether...

"I was learning that sometimes boyfriends could be high-maintenance." Ain't it the truth! But as young teens, all relationships are so new and seem like so much work. I'd also like to mention that John is really young too and like most youngsters, it's all about them.... I think Mark captured the ambiance of the generation fairly well. And Gathan is a blast, calling Stef after the fact of using the house was seemingly right in character. The latest news about J.P. is unsettling. Colon cancer is more prevalent among gay men.

As noted, this chapter really moved along! But has the mob (a.k.a. Rocco) also infiltrated the Chicago P.D. and therefore does he know that Evan had protection which took out his two goons? Does he also know about Scotty and does Scotty need to be aware he could now be a target? Now back to the newsroom--and its coverage of the ongoing story including the latest kidnapping attempt gone bust? So many loose ends, including a hot party this weekend to write about....Again, I am filled with anticipation and can't wait to see the next offering.

Poor Sir George, he just gets a quick tryst in with a delectable piece and then is off to Italy and has to leave at once to ferry a self-righteous general, who insists on pulling rank, back to Gibraltar. Hopefully, the winds will turn and be as favorable sailing westward.

I think Mark is right that this younger generation is not hung up on labels and seem more cafeteria oriented toward sex...

Interesting, befuddling, and maybe a little pretentious? I am not familiar with the "Charmed" series so I am new to this. However, it seems the elves did a poor job of preparing our young hero for life in the "real" world. His finding the witches, was providential but potentially worrisome if he wishes to remain anonymous. His jinni is remiss in failing to remind him that the bag which can't be opened could still be stolen... Having said all that, I eagerly await the next installment and its bag of tricks!

Your response to Bumblebee was somewhat surprising. If I were a betting man I would have lost, as I would have thought your reply would have said: "No, its all about plowing!" Just to keep the mixed metaphor on track....

Jared was already well-motivated and with his augmentation, and new combat suit, ferociously armed. As his kids have some augmentation they could well survive if they got into escape pods. The fear is that they fall into the hands of officials loyal to the infamous president. Jared will find some way to carry out his mission and destroy him or end up mortally wounded trying. He will also try to find out about his kids and lover. That ship was their best hope and it was compromised running into a mine field. The amount of bad luck, devastating surprises and other calamities hitting the space force of the federation, (likened in the story as more Coast Guard like than true Navy or Marine) is almost like a comic book story...

Machinations, as such all occurred in the first quarter of the chapter. The story of Trevor and Shane covers the other three-quarters and still there is no hint as to whether they will become more than just friends. I am breathlessly awaiting the rest of this remarkable adventure/thriller/mystery.

Interesting chapter, but again Will seems way more mature than an almost 14 year old, in how he handled his mom and both dads, especially in a stressful situation. I guess, I am used to early teens who try to manipulate one parent to influence the other one. Here was a perfect chance for Will to enlist Brad to convince Robbie that he was the natural one to take Jeanine aside and get her to see she was making everyone's life terrible so they could join her in a pity party and that it was instead driving a further wedge into the family. Gathan is something else and as he explores his sexuality and prowess in the manly arts, it seems he is more confident. I still think that when the crew assembles in Paly that J.P. will have his hands full.

I am a sucker for happy endings, even when the main characters are total screw-ups and really don't deserve one. Alright, most of us screw-up more often than we like to admit and we still want happiness. I guess being imperfect human beings is what makes us interesting. Thanks for the story!

Very interesting and fast-paced chapter that left many questions unanswered. Hopefully, the house will be a trove of information and our kind author will deign to share. As usual, I find it will be hard to wait for the next installment.
