In my part of the South you had better be careful about gay PDAs on account of you could get killed if the wrong people see you. In the gay areas of towns like New Orleans and the communities on the coast, no problem. In small Mississippi towns you may run into some of the shit of your worst nightmares. Cops that want to keep that shit out of my town are probably the worst. They won't kill you. They'll just plant a felony amount of drugs on you and ruin your life.

heh, heh heh huh... you said sweat hog. what hasn't been said in the health care debate is that a persons health is very much behavior related. when/if the government is paying the bill for health care, you are going to lose some personal freedom. How they handle the behavior related part of health care and the cost involved with obesity, tobacco, salt and cholesterol intake and a thousand things we do or don't do a day: all of these choices become cost issues.

Thank you all. We're having the funeral Thursday and made the arrangements today. Because of my Dad's military service, there is going to be some pomp and ceremony that will make it very cool. He joined the Army Air Corp out of High School in 1943 and flew with the 15th Air Force in the Mediterranean until the end of the war. While he was in, he became a member of the newly formed Air Force. After the end of the war in 1945, he went to Mississippi State and got his degree and went Army ROTC Officers Training. He got called up in 1950 for Korea. Since the Army was out of the flying business, he was assigned as a platoon leader in the 2nd infantry division. 2nd ID fought their way out of the Pusan Perimeter where Pop's unit was severely counterattacked and nearly over run. Thinking that they were all dead, he called in an artillery barrage on top of their position. This enabled them to hold the line until help could arrive. He was awarded the silver star and promoted. After Korea, he transferred to armor and spent the rest of his career in Europe with the 3rd armored division. I arrived at the base hospital in Wiesbaden, West Germany in 1962- a brand new Army BRAT (Born RAised and Transferred). My mom, brother and I came home from Germany in June 1967 when the Six Day War broke out and a lot of the officers thought that it was the opening act of WWIII. Dad retired and came home the next year. The Army is sending an honor guard, an officer from the 2nd Infantry Division will speak about the incident where my Dad was awarded the Silver Star, there's going to be a piper playing Amazing Grace and a bugler will play taps at the end. So we celebrate the passing of another member of the Warrior Generation and remember how magnificent they really were.

I agree. Why use hurtful words especially if those words are considered offensive by members of your own community? I will use them in fiction to make a point, set a mood or to put someone in character (or lack there of). I don't use them in day to day chat. If you go back and watch the South Park episode that this comes from, it just makes Garrison sound like a dumb ass- just like it does when other minorities do it.

This was their first ever meeting. Mississippi State is a member of the South Eastern Conference- a perennial celler-dweller but a member. Jackson State is a predominantly black college and a member of the SWAC (Division IAA). My Dad started lobbying the athletic department to schedule Jackson State back in the eighties. It makes sense because it could be a good in state rivalry. The game was finally agreed to and scheduled last year. I'm very pleased that he lived to see it finally happen and I hope that it becomes a long and storied rivalry.

This morning my father passed away after a long struggle with heart problems and Parkinson's disease. He passed away peacefully in his chair smiling while watching highlights of Mississippi States win over Jackson State yesterday. We found him non-responsive and with a weak pulse. I administered CPR and we called 911. He was pronounced shortly after arriving at the emergency room. After all the difficulties that we had over the years, we had rebuilt and healed our relationship. I am going to miss him badly but I know that he will always be with me.

The first cut is the deepest. When you lose that innocence of death, you will remember its sting even though you will see more and more of it every day. When a child to sees another child die a senseless and purposeless death, it is a blunt and brutal reminder of their own mortality at a time of their life when they feel immortal. I feel for the kid who accidentally shot his friend. That is burden that will stay with him for the rest of his life. Sometimes it is harder on the survivors of a tragedy than it was for those that were cut down. Survivors have to carry that knowledge and guilt and will never stop asking why. If any good could come from such a tragedy, perhaps it is that parents were made more aware that allowing the use of guns by inexperienced youths can be tragic. Maybe some young people were reminded that they are not immortal. You can never know what the reason or the purpose was, speaking as a person spent a long time at the bottom of a bottle with survivors guilt, it's best not to dwell on it.

It sounds like a bad joke but why would I like anyone that would want to have sex with me? This is a common attitude that you'll find among hard core cruisers. People get all sorts of sexual hang ups, especially after they've been told they are an evil abomination in the eyes of God from an early age. That's mild- living in the South, I've seen some really f**ked up head cases. Self esteem is easily destroyed and can only be restored up to a point. One of the cruising areas south of Jackson is named "Missionary Hill" after an old Queen that hung out there during the seventies and eighties that would "share his witness with you" (proselytize) and then try to get in your pants. Me, I go to a club, pick out the best looking guy there and f**k them. If it doesn't work out, so what? Nothing ventured, nothing gained. It has the added advantage of not having to listen to their shit the next morning. After a long string of lying, manipulative, self-serving bastards, to me that's the best part. There actually is an old joke that goes: Sex is dirty, disgusting and gross and should only be performed with someone that you love.

AT&T does some thing exceptionally well from the technical side of the ball. NOBODY does fiber, long-lines or network management better. The problem occurs when they get surprised by new and extraordinary requirements. Some years ago they built a network backbone based on the requirements that they had at that point in time. Two mergers in particular blew those requirements completely out of the water. By adding Bellsouth and Cingular, AT&T became a dominate player in the wireless market. The problem is that they have had serious problems integrating those three networks. Now they have a national network backbone that isn't capable of handling their new customer volume that has been built up out of several mergers. They are in the process of building capacity- I've worked on it as a contractor. That takes time and they are slowly getting things worked out. It would be really nice if their business office talked to their engineers once in a while so they would know what to expect. AT&T is, at the moment, in the position of an ordinary McDonalds that has 12 tour buses arrive during their morning rush. They've thrown in some biscuits and put on extra sausage on but it's going to take a while to work it all out. It's good to have a lot of customers but you've got to deliver if you expect to keep them. I think that they will if they don't alienate the customers that they have by making lame excuses. IMHO they should just tell the truth and I think most people will understand.

Today a judge fined a local environmental activist $500 for dumping. July 28, Jeremy C. of Brandon, MS was confronted by a Rankin county sheriff's deputy dumping trash in a rural area that local residents had been complaining about for months. Items dumped were old pesticide, car batteries, old paint cans, mattresses and furniture. What made it even better was that Mr. C. was driving his Chevy Taiho with tons of edgy "Green" stickers like save the whales, Greenpeace and Green Day. Mr. C was fined the maximum because he lied to the officer claiming that he was not dumping at the dump site despite the old magazines in the pile with his name and address on them. With retards like this looking out for our environment, we're all doomed. On the upside, with retards like this committing environmental crimes, our impending doom is canceled out.

I take it that your dad didn't put your head through a sheet rock wall when he found out that you were gay. Don't break your arm patting yourself on your back over your superior morality. You live in a very different world than many of us.

People miss out on so much because they spend so much of their time in their own little rut. They ignore the strange and unusual. I am the strange and unusual. I don't ask permission or forgiveness. There are very few things funnier to watch than a dumb ass trying to out smart someone. Now if I can just figure out how to put that in a story.

I watched the National Geographic special about the science behind the conspiracy theories which destroyed all of the conspiracy theories. The "truthers" don't put a theory out there. They just believe. They hang on to that belief like some idiotic religion. The psychology behind it is like the psychology of faith: it is easier to believe in a mythological construct than a complex and disturbing truth.

This film featuring Mulla Omar and Bin Laden was captured in Afghanistan in late 2001. Bin Laden likes to tape his "high level" meetings. as reported by Fox and CBS. NBC reports suicide attack plot a year in advance. The story is so fantastic that many people dismissed it thinking that Islamists were incapable of launching anything of that scale or sophistication. A suicide attack with an airliner was a key part of the plot of a popular novel by Tom Clancy and many people dismissed it as being a figment of popular culture inspired imagination. In fact, Bin Laden was behind and had long been obsessed with the structures as a symbol of America. There are some mental people out there that would like for you to believe that 9-11 was an inside job. They were around in 1993 as well accusing the FBI of carrying out the bombing. I know that it is easier to believe that there are power hungry idiots in our government that would try to pull this off. The FBI? The CIA? The White House? FBI is one of the most politically polarized agencies in Washington and blew off major league clues that something was happening. CIA is so inept that's its embarrassing. The Bush White House was incapable of pulling off anything nearly this complex. What were the results? What was the payoff? Two expensive and unpopular wars. Balkanization of the United States and the alienation of her traditional allies. Exacerbation of the hatred and fear that exists between the United States and the Islamic World? Who profits? Nobody won. Everybody lost and we're still up to our ass in the fallout. Don't be a FOOL. Tell a "Truther" to put up or shut up. Their special brand of retardation is only making things worse. If you've got some evidence, bring it on. We need to see it. If there was a huge conspiracy, some people need to be taken out and shot. Otherwise- take your idiocy and get lost. PLEASE: it's time to get OFF. We've got to come to grips with the reality behind 9-11: there are indeed people out there that would do great harm to the West in general and the United States in particular. Ignoring them won't make them go away and we will hear from them again.

I'd forgotten about trying on the fresh-meat. It's the best thing about fall. They are so cute, dumb and intoxicated that you just can't lose. I always had a great time after football games: lots of drunk kids, you don't have to buy booze.

If you want a guarantee, buy a truck. In matters of the heart, you don't even get an airbag... unless you get a mother-in-law thrown in.
