  4. Another critical flash point: the Six Day War June 5-10, 1967. When the Six Day War broke out, US forces went on a world wide mobilization. It was well known that the Soviets were behind it and it was thought that NATO might be tested in Europe or the Soviets may launch some adventure in the Far East. When things went so badly for the Egyptians, President Nasser was actually discussing with the Soviets having their airborne troops land and join the fight. A previously little known officer named Sadat stepped forward and spoke against it. The total defeat of the combined Arab forces in the Six Day War was a political earthquake in the Arab world. The heads of state who failed were all removed within a short time and it set the stage for an ambitious politician named Saddam Hussein to rise to power in Iraq. As a side note, things looked so grim that many US military dependents were sent home when the war broke out. It was at that point that a certain wee little Beastie, his Mom and older brother came to United States.
  5. Damnit- and nobody called me!? WTF???
  6. Steady as she goes Mr. Covington. You two lay in a course and go to warp.
  7. Someone told me that when writing a scene that messes you up a little, you've given it some soul.
  8. That just goes to show how culturally bankrupt the country is. That is good news for us. That means there is room for real talent.
  9. Bruce Willis said it best in The Last Boy Scout: Milo: Just once, I would like to hear you scream, in pain. Hallenbeck: Play some rap music.
  10. rapping isn't a talent. 2nd graders can do it and they make more sense the the "STARS".
  11. Enima is just another candy coated white-rapper that thinks he's a badass but would be selling his ass if he wasn't rich and famous. Screw him. He's only one of the biggest no-talent pricks in the country. I would rather walk 8 miles than watch his bullshit life story. His fans are so pathetic, they are the people we used to beat up in school.
  12. EXACTLY. Thanks Dom. You really do get it. I should have expected that from the author of the Log Way- one of my all time favorite stories.
  13. OK. So apparently I'm in the zone then and not quite nuts. Chapter 12/13 of Twilight should really work then.
  14. Chase- You'll get alot more hugs than judgement here... and maybe a word about keeping your head and taking care of yourself. I remember when I was your age and HIV/AIDS were acronyms that hadn't even been invented yet. I did things that make me blush just thinking about them. Enjoy this time of your life. It is very special and you only go around once. Don't waste a second of it on guilt or regret. To be young and beautiful in your kingdom by the sea must be a wonderful experience. James
  15. That is a good place to keep things for the time being. Enjoy each others company and get to know each other well. There are all sorts of relationships and they all have their own rewards. While everyone wants a boyfriend for all sorts of reasons, the brotherhood type relationship is golden and can be good for you both.
  16. A lot of it depends on what type of story you are writing. A Character driven story rises or falls on the strength and depth of the characters. Their development requires a lot of thought and effort. Regardless of your careful planning, strong characters have a tendency to drive things; sometimes in a direction that even surprises the author. Literary works, romances, etc tend to fall under this catagory. An event driven story characters take their ques from outside events beyond their control (eg. a war, an earthquake, a historical battle). Their development is still important but they aren't driving the ship and must react to outside events. Maybe they can influence the outcome. Action stories, historical fiction tends to fall under this catagory. Truthfully, there is a great deal of crossover between the two types of stories and they both benefit from strong, well developed characters.

  19. Blowing in the Wind - Bob Dylan Bob Dylan - Blowing in the Wind How many roads must a man walk down Before you call him a man? Yes, n how many seas must a white dove sail Before she sleeps in the sand? Yes, n how many times must the cannon balls fly Before theyre forever banned? The answer, my friend, is blowin in the wind, The answer is blowin in the wind. How many times must a man look up Before he can see the sky? Yes, n how many ears must one man have Before he can hear people cry? Yes, n how many deaths will it take till he knows That too many people have died? The answer, my friend, is blowin in the wind, The answer is blowin in the wind. How many years can a mountain exist Before its washed to the sea? Yes, n how many years can some people exist Before theyre allowed to be free? Yes, n how many times can a man turn his head, Pretending he just doesnt see? The answer, my friend, is blowin in the wind, The answer is blowin in the wind.
  20. One Tin Soldier by Lambert-Potter, The Original Cast One Tin Soldier by the Original Cast Listen, children, to a story That was written long ago, 'Bout a kingdom on a mountain And the valley-folk below. On the mountain was a treasure Buried deep beneath the stone, And the valley-people swore They'd have it for their very own. Go ahead and hate your neighbor, Go ahead and cheat a friend. Do it in the name of Heaven, You can justify it in the end. There won't be any trumpets blowing Come the judgement day, On the bloody morning after.... One tin soldier rides away. So the people of the valley Sent a message up the hill, Asking for the buried treasure, Tons of gold for which they'd kill. Came an answer from the kingdom, "With our brothers we will share All the secrets of our mountain, All the riches buried there." Go ahead and hate your neighbor, Go ahead and cheat a friend. Do it in the name of Heaven, You can justify it in the end. There won't be any trumpets blowing Come the judgement day, On the bloody morning after.... One tin soldier rides away. Now the valley cried with anger, "Mount your horses! Draw your sword!" And they killed the mountain-people, So they won their just reward. Now they stood beside the treasure, On the mountain, dark and red. Turned the stone and looked beneath it... "Peace on Earth" was all it said. Go ahead and hate your neighbor, Go ahead and cheat a friend. Do it in the name of Heaven, You can justify it in the end. There won't be any trumpets blowing Come the judgement day, On the bloody morning after.... One tin soldier rides away. Go ahead and hate your neighbor, Go ahead and cheat a friend. Do it in the name of Heaven, You can justify it in the end. There won't be any trumpets blowing Come the judgement day, On the bloody morning after.... One tin soldier rides away.
