If I feel safe, it's no problem. Otherwise it's nobodies business but my own.

I've tried single and relationships and at this stage single works best. Guys my age carry their baggage in over-loaded tractor-trailors. I tried younger guys but my stripper ran off when I ran out of ones to stick in his speedo. Now I'm happy to hang with my cats rather than abuse myself with psychos or Ho's

The game Dungeons & Dragons has become the gold standard of geekdom. Within that game is a concept of morality which balances law and chaos and good and evil. So... where do you stand? Alignment Test You might think that I am Chaotic Evil but I'm really: Neutral Good- A neutral good character does the best that a good person can do. He is devoted to helping others. He works with kings and magistrates but does not feel beholden to them. Neutral good is the best alignment you can be because it means doing what is good without bias for or against order. However, neutral good can be a dangerous alignment because because it advances mediocrity by limiting the actions of the truly capable.

I am rage. I am the eye of the storm. I am the energy the battle and the sting of war. I am the pain of old wounds and new. I am the asshole that won't give, the bastard who won't budge and the pervert that doesn't give a damn. I am the rude finger and other times the fist. I am that gay guy or that fag that makes people look in wonder and disgust. I am the guy that gets fired for no apparent reason. I am the guy that keeps fighting long after its over too make sure the next one knows that its going to hurt. I am the guy that wears his scars like a badge of honor- not hiding them in shame but showing them in blame. I am a SOB and a sweetheart, a jerk and genteel, a contradiction and a constant. I am the person you know and the one that you don't. I am broken in some ways but stronger than steel in others. I am the stranger among you and guy you meet on the bus that you feel like you've known for years. Pleased to meet you Hope you guess my name. Ah, whats puzzling you Is the nature of my game. _____________________________ Billy Joel, The Stranger Well we all have a face That we hide away forever And we take them out and Show ourselves When everyone has gone Some are satin some are steel Some are silk and some are leather They're the faces of the stranger But we love to try them on Well we all fall in love But we disregard the danger Though we share so many secrets There are some we never tell Why were you so surprised That you never saw the stranger Did you ever let your lover see The stranger in yourself? Don't be afraid to try again Everyone goes south Every now and then You've done it, why can't Someone else? You should know by now You've been there yourself Once I used to believe I was such a great romancer Then I came home to a woman That I could not recognize When I pressed her for a reason She refused to even answer It was then I felt the stranger Kick me right between the eyes Well we all fall in love But we disregard the danger Though we share so many secrets There are some we never tell Why were you so surprised That you never saw the stranger Did you ever let your lover see The stranger in yourself? Don't be afraid to try again Everyone goes south Every now and then You've done it why can't Someone else? You should know by now You've been there yourself You may never understand How the stranger is inspired But he isn't always evil And he is not always wrong Though you drown in good intentions You will never quench the fire You'll give in to your desire When the stranger comes along.

Continuity- how do you keep it together?
JamesSavik replied to JamesSavik's topic in Writer's Circle
That gives me brain damage just thinking about it. -
The media has done such a hatchet job on the Internet that parents are scared shirtless of it. They think a perv is going to jump out of the cd-rom bay of their computer and abduct their kid. The school boards say "filter" and parents are predisposed to go along with anything regardless of how stupid or overboard. We all know how level headed and reasonable people in school administration are, especially in the sticks where they fondle snakes and kindergardeners in church.

Message Board Topic 5/18
JamesSavik replied to Comsie's topic in Comicality's Shack Clubhouse's Cafe
There is no way to prevent dangling characters. It would be nice to get to know every cute delivery boy, the nurse at the clinic or interesting old man you meet at the bus stop but that's life. You only get a look, a few words or maybe a short conversation and then they are gone. -

One of the cool things about this place is you'll get more hugs than judgement... and a word about keeping your head and taking care of yourself.

Myr- you rock! You've accomplished so much with GA! You have my respect and admiration. Have a great Birthday and many more. My loyal army of cats salutes you.

Yes, of course you are right. But he would make a satisfying thump when he hit the floor as my "argument" struck home. :chris:

I have an idea... let's get some trucks and lots of really big mean looking guys and go grab random Mormons, hardline Catholics and Fundamentalists and show them what its like. We can beat the crap out of some, sexually assault a few with broom handles and maybe drag a few to death. We could even beat one within an inch of his life and leave him tied to a tree in a remote area in freezing conditions. Turn about is fair play after all. They need to understand the horrible deaths that some of our people have faced because of their ignorant bigotry. I'm kidding of course but I think you get my point. The Hendersons and Kenneys (the murderers of Matt Shephard) were just criminals who had absorbed the message that gay people are subhuman/weak/vulnerable/easy prey and nobody really gives a shit about them. It is the source of these messages that I want to bring the point home too: the Pope, the leadership of the Mormon Church and people like Pat Robertson and Joe the f-ing plummer who claim that they[gays] want your children. These are the people I would like to explain it too personally.

Don't you know when that Bad Robot shows up (J. J. Abrams production company) insurance rates soar and there's going to be death and destruction on the planetary scale. One thing I liked about the show: technology wasn't nice and neat and contained in black boxes. The engineering spaces were crowded, busy places with pipes and cables and junction boxes that sprawled. Not like the antiseptic version you get with NextGen, etc. The old Enterprise looked like it did during the TOS episode "The Cage" which showed flashbacks of the Enterprise under Captain Pike. They pulled a lot of threads together to weave this story.

Warning: very bad ideas  A hazard exists that threatens existence. A hazard exists that defies normal cognitive abilities. A singularity/black-hole is nearby. Transvestite crossing.

Continuity errors kill stories. When Joe Bob dies like a dog in Act 2, scene 3, he had better not show up again in act 4 scene 1 unless there is a good reason for it. How do you as a writer in a story with multiple threads in your plot keep it together? Timing is critical and errors make your finely crafted plot fall flat. I use index cards that reference a specific event and lay them out on the time-line. How do other authors handle this very tricky element of the craft?

If you look at what the philosophers at the time were doing, you would see that most of it is derived from their culture and myths/religions. The myths of a people explained their world like Vulcan's Hammer and thunder or the universe as the Ever-tree in Norse mythology. A person is not immune from these myths and symbols and we have seen many examples of advances in science and thought being opposed by popular and religious leaders. Copernicus, Newton, Jenner all faced the ire of the "church", then the arbiter of truth and very pissed off when anyone came up with a truth that they couldn't explain or attribute to Jebus It has been the pattern for eons that a vitki/truth-seeker/man of knowlege has to look beyond the myths/legends/superstition and religious dogma to View the universe objectively Understand that truth is not static Understand that nature reveals herself slowly, if at all with all due respect to Plato, Aristotle and the Pope, there is still a lot of worthwhile things to learn learn about science and nature

It's physically impossible for a Cajun to be a vegatable-tarian. twigs, seeds and nuts VS seafood gumbo? tofu and nuts VS shrimp Creole? I don't think so.
