It's a shame that all the reviews got lost. This was such a masterful examination of what goes on in the mind of someone who is abused and mentally scarred. Ben and Rick are endearing characters and they are so well rounded I feel I know them personally. They went through quite a ride and they both changed along the way. There was a fabulous supporting cast and I even have a soft spot for Will... kind of. As a villain he's awesome. There are so many twist and turns that every chapter had me on the edge of my seat and the writing was smooth, smart and grown up. This is one of my favourite stories

Oh for goodness sake pull yourself together man . So what if you are grumpy with your kids now and again? Do you think that no one else is? There is no such thing as a perfect parent. I get my days with my kids, I hated my daughter for a while during her teenage years but I am a pretty damn good parent. Seriously... it's going to be alright. You've been waiting for this for a long time and the nerves have been jangled. You have been building it up and the reality is setting in. What the hell difference does it make what the surrogate is saying or doing right now? She can ask you to do cartwheels and if that's what it takes to get those babies in your arms what is it going to hurt to do them. Trust me... when you are holding those sweet little angels in your arms it will all have been worth it. EVERYONE has doubts; every expectant mother; every expectant father. Trust me you are not alone... so suck it up

This Prologue interested me and intrigued me. I like the way you narrate. It reminds me of someone but I can't put my finger on it. There was a lot packed into a small space which is always a good thing. More than anything you are a storyteller and I can feel a story coming on. The first part was masterful, overshadowing what is to come. In a way you have given us the end of the journey so we can concentrate on the ride. I like it.

Lacey, I have yet to see a bad photograph of you. You are the most photogenic person I have ever seen. And it is WONDERFUL to see that smile... oh and you look sooo cute when you're asleep. The bad guys in this one are very, very different. River has NO idea what he's gotten himself into. It's been okay so far because they have been wrapped in their own little cocoon and Silver has been focussing on getting back to physical strength and not really able to do any of this stuff. Now he is getting more confident and relaxed everything is surfacing and he huge inequality in the relationship is making itself felt, especially as River won't 'let' him do things and Silver asks for 'permission'. Hmmm.. can't last

Of course we care hun. Cia's advice is awesome. Take it a step at a time and know that we are behind you every one you take. You have no need to lack self confidence, you are a totally beautiful young man and your smile goes all the way through. If in doubt drop out of a tree

It's definitely a backward slide for Silver. We'll see soon why and where he's sliding too. Be prepared this book is no kinder to the boys than the last one and Silver's past is raisig it's ugly head again.

Well, maybe we will lynch you for making us wait this long to find out It was cute to see the words 'second shot' in there :)That really was a beautiful chapter, of course, but maybe not for the reasons you would expect. The high point of that chapter for me wasn't Peter waking, we knew that was coming eventually, but the way the bad thing that happened to Peter and Jason brought the family together.Jason's mother is melting faster than an iceberg after global warming. She is friending up with Amanda who is thawing with Tom and even Betsy and everyone is getting along so much better. This feeds in to my theory that situations of high stress change the way that people think and react to each other. I explore this time and again in my own work and I think you have done this marvellously, not just in this chapter but the whole section.

Thank you. That's very sweet of you. In many ways this is very different, in many ways very similar. Silver and River are the same people but they have different challenges, many of a far more mundane nature. This... as with the last one is very much about emotion and wat is happening on the inside rather than the outside so... we'll see.

River and Silver are back, fighting prejudice and the system to be together. With the help of Sam and his family they do the best they can but will it be good enough?

WARNING. There are parts of this story that are hard to read. It you get to a point where you think you can't read on then skip to Chapter 22 and give it a go from there, because that's where it all turns around I am so excited I can barely keep it in. It occurs to me that half a year ago I would have been pleased but nowhere near so excited. This is the most wonderful news and I am so happy for both of you. One small thing I would caution against. Don't ever start talking in precise numbers with babies, especially numbers like dates... babies do their own sweet thing especially when it comes to being born. Things like levels, size, weight, head circumferance and that stuff can mean something and one thing they can mean is diddly squat. Don't freak when nothing is as you expect it to be... just get used to it becasue that is exactly how it is going to be when they are born
