  1. Thank you (I remembered to say it this time ) I'm delighted that, as someone who has dealt with someone like Marc you can say nice things aboug the story. I must be doing something right. If you like longer stories you might want to give Enigma a look over. Silver is my favourite character of all times and he most certainly has elements of Marc in him
  2. I disagree. Even if it was fake it had an effect. I opened our eyes and our minds for the time we were watching it, making us more receptive and aware of the issues behind it. Even if that boy was a fake the emotions he provoked and that he represented weren't We have nativity plays at Christmas... they're fake but they make us think
  3. You know, I'm with you there. You might light to try my Special then, I think you will like Marc
  4. What makes me feel so sad is the amount of responses to the original that say it's fake or make horrible comments. Why? So what if this particular vid WAS fake; the emotions and the message aren't I think that's part of the whole problem though isn't it? As for Jonathan... if I were 20 years younger and a gay man I'd propose

    age and wisdom

I am with you on the ageing but never going old thing. I disagree, though that you can't carry on setting bad examples, whatever age you might be
  7. I agree with you Q. I struggle to see how what she did was wrong. Yes, she broke the law and yes, I guess she deserves to be punished but, as you have said no one got hurt and everyone benefitted. Perhaps it's the law that should be looked at and not the people who break it. As far as i can see the only bad effects of not having this law are financial. In some ways it's the same arguement as leagalising prostitution. If a woman wishes to use her body in this way and improve her situation considerably, perhaps giving her her one and only chance to escape poverty then why shouldn't she be allowed to?
  8. Well, this is my first toe dip in the ocean of published work. It's something that kind of happened and it's all been done by a good friend who happens to have an indie publishing co. It's as professional as we can make it and it's getting 'out there'. I'm pretty excited, especially as I did the cover art as well so i am now a published artist too. I have another finger in the pie but that is not coming out until March next year and is a completely new story which will be published in paper book form too. I will be able to autograph those Whilst I like the idea of being the gay JK Rowling I don't think that's going to happen. Although, i am working on Enigma IV so it's on it's way to Harry Potter-esque proportions.
  9. Okay, so I've just had my first novel published online. Enigma is out today on Smashwords and in the next few days all over the place So how do I feel? Excited? Elated? Proud? Erm... no. I feel sick and scared and slightly guilty. Go figure. There are so many things to do. I have to 'get it out there' and I am SO scared that I will miss something or do something wrong. God I'm scared. Anyone have any advice. This is my baby, you know, my Silver. I don't want to let him down.
  10. I love this story. It's quite complex and I have to think about things carefully. I hope that all the different strands will draw together eventually and all the people involved start settling into their stride. There is an awful lot to interest in there. The editing is pretty good to.
  11. Read one of mine. Try The Face in the Window where Neither caracter is fabulously rich, although neither are dog poor either and I'm sorry that neither is black but one of them is a blind albino, will that do? There is a bit of sex but the first time is crap and the kind of learn together and both are totally gay for everyone. not just each other. Or maybe Enigma. There is much sex at all in that and the lead characters don't have two beans to rub together, of course one of them is a struggling care assistant and the other one of his charges. Again neither is black and one is very beautiful but the other has red hair if that counts. Never heard of Genet but I have read Proust (god knows not all of it) and think he's overrated but that might be because I don't speak French and I guess it loses something in the translation. You do make some interesting points though, possible even powerful ideas which. by my challenge have communicated some of their strength to me
  12. Isn't he always So excited about the possibility of meeting him. Yes you... I was talking about you... you there... yes... yes YOU. Jian
  13. WHAT???? Have you READ the above posts. It's being organised around you, you silly thing.
  14. I forgot about here. Never mind already said Happy Birthday elsewhere so I'll just supply some cake shall I
  15. We have always had at least two advent callenders. Last year when my daughter and her partner was with me we had four... and yes, I do have to have my own They are the basic chocolate ones but I have always liked the idea of the permanent ones. Maybe next year
  16. OMG Chase being serious???? Not only that but giving sage and inspirational advice. Is the world coming to an end Awesome blog and very very true. When I look back on my early works, even those posted on GA I cringe.
  17. That's a heck of a first blog. Don;'t imagine many people are going to read all the way through though. As someone who has practiced law for over tweny years in the UK my best advice for anyone considering a career in law is don't. This is not the time to be a young lawyer. THe current climate has hit law hard with many firms making staff redundant and/or merging with each other leaving even senior staff out of work. Of course the hardest to be hit are at the lower levels and I am not aware of any firms in this area who are taking on trainees. On the other hand paralegals with no legal qualifications are doing well because they are cheapl
  18. For my sins I have been a lawyer for over 20 years. I am UK lawyer though so i don't know how much help I would be to anyone from over the pond.
  19. This is AWESOME. I LOVE it. Write more write more. What an unique and well presented idea.
  20. Adam Lambert is the hottest, Adam Levine has beautiful eyes so had a yes just for that and the other two (not Santa eeew) had a yes because they have potential but I really don't go for the muscley look so they would have to grow their hair and lose some bulk.
  21. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DARLING
  22. I'd read it if only for entertainment value I like to exercise my mind but I'm not sure I'm ready for the olympics yet.
  23. I think that a doctor if he was being clinical would say something along the lines of. He has clearly been beaten repeatedly over a period of times. There are bruises of differing ages and on this occasion he has been beaten with an object with a sharply defined edge, such as a belt. There is one example of a wound that might have been caused by a buckle and the rest of his back is marked with stripes that are still bleeding, at least half an hour after they were inflicted. Welts are raised patches where the skin is not broken, so they wouldn't be bleeding

    Chapter 1

That was such a rich story. The descriptions were breathtaking. The cathderal sounds awesome. Little touches like where you say that people in the city have no idea what darkness is like in a wood... fabulous. It's almost a physical entity sometimes. You don't go into very much detail about Ronnie but it's very clear that the relationship is a close one. I love the fact that we get to feel that we know the characters, having very little actual description of them. This leaves it entirely to our imagination to create them. I like mine; they're the kind of guys who'd stop and offer to change the tyre of a stranded woman motorist. For a first attempt that was a pretty damn good effort. You have a way with words for sure.
