If you’ve read “Protector of Children” you may remember Lucas. That particular Lucas lives (or lived or will live) in Earth Analogue IV, one not unlike the one in which you are reading this except that its inhabitants include the Greek gods and at least one titan. The narrative which follows occurs (or occurred or will occur) in Earth Analogues V and VII.

A beggar who is afraid for his life encounters a boy who claims to be a prince. This is a medieval fantasy adventure in a world in which the magical is mundane—but still, very special.
