C James' stories are also known for their extensive background research, including some scenes that are set in foreign locations and researched via the author's love of travel, including recent visits to many of the featured overseas locations.

Dark's stories follow the lives and times of mature adults in a myriad of environments. They can be serious at times with an occasional perceptive observation on human nature and society. Dark's characters are often feisty and sarcastic, and plagued with a peculiar stubbornness regarding reality.

David McLeod writes stories set both in a medieval fantasy world and in various Earth-analogues that touch that world from time to time. While admitting a debt to a youth wasted on fantasy and role-playing games, his goal is to bring fresh heroes, villains, and ordinary people into worlds different, but not so different, from our own.
