There Once Was Love & Modern High

A Vacation With Regrets 3-3

The end

As I sat here and thought about what I had done to Zach and Jacob, I knew, because of me, they were going to break up. But you see, I didn’t intentionally set out to destroy what could have been a very special relationship for them. It just happened, and now I can’t help but to feel responsible. If anyone out there has done what I did, can you please help me so I can make it right? I don't think I can live with this guilt if I can't do anything about it.

“Lacey?” I asked quietly. We were sitting next to each other as I thought of what to do about this predicament.

“Yes?” she asked, almost in a voice that spoke, 'here he goes again.'

"I just wanted ask if you have ever done something so wrong that you felt guilty and responsible for it...”

“Well to answer your question... yes, I have. However, my situations were never like yours, what you did was wrong. Zach and Jacob are going to fight because they both think that they're not good enough for each other. And that, my friend, is going to hurt more when you realize that... that you did this to them. The pain you feel now is nothing compared to what is to come.”

She was right... How can I honestly expect things to work out with them? I know in my heart I have to fix this, but I just don’t know how to go about that...

“Oh, and don’t forget we leave today. I miss NYC and the dramatic people. Not that this birthday weekend wasn’t fun enough, but, well, I want to throw some parties.”

“I hear you on that, can you at least wait a little bit? I-I need to do something.”

“Yes, sure... Whatever!” She flicked her wrist like she didn’t care, but I knew better.

Whenever Lacey treated me like that, I couldn’t help but think she didn’t like me anymore. Is it true though? Maybe she doesn’t... I shrugged my shoulders as I left the room, walking solemnly, lonely, down the corridor, wishing anyone was with me. However, no one was. I hung my head as I once again knew that what I caused between Zach and Jacob wasn’t right or good. Nevertheless, how do I go about fixing it? How do I convince them that they shouldn’t be mad at each other, but at me instead? Just how?

Rounding the corner to Zach’s room, I slammed into someone. Looking up, I recognized him as Nathan, Zach’s best friend and Jacob’s friend. I saw Nathan had an awesome body, looking at him now this close up; one couldn’t help but look. With his fair hair, his eyes that sparkled with concern, and I can’t forget that body of his, wowza! Hot! Hot! HOT!

“Tom,” He nodded his head at me, I was going to reply to him, but he beat me to it, “...What have you done? I mean it was simple, have sex with Zach. Make him feel a little bit less pain than he did, but now he’s more broken than ever. What the fuc---“

“Ok, don’t even blame this shit on me... Candice and Ashley were supposed to be watching Jacob... How did he get away and why? Oh, and also, I didn’t tell him to come into my room while I was... well... you know.”

“Oh, so my best friend’s feelings are no concern of yours?” My eyes must have shown something because he stopped talking for a moment... But that moment didn’t last long, “I guess your friends were right... You’re shallow and I can’t even believe that I thought you could have done something so fucking simple... You know what? Now I know better.... Just stay away from Jacob and especially stay away from Zach. Got it?”

“Y-yes, I understand.” I lowered my head a bit more as I waited for him to say something else, but he didn’t. When I lifted my head back up, Nathan was gone and I again felt worthless. I walked down the rest of the corridor, in complete silence, feeling my eyes begin to sting and my heart drop even more. “I can’t believe I screwed up everything. Everything was going well until I met them and now look... Stupid. Stupid. Stupid! God, I should just swear off men for a while. Until I figure out what to do,” I whispered to myself as I got in the elevator and pressed the L for Lobby.
Rushing towards the entrance of the hotel in hopes of finding Zach or at least Jacob, I wanted to at least explain what went on and why they shouldn’t be mad at each other. I searched the check out, but they weren’t there, so I decided to see if they checked out. Upon getting to the desk, I saw them; Nathan with Zach, Nichole with Jacob, Ashley and Candice bringing up the rear. Did I really want to confront both of them or should I do each one separately? I had to decide fast; they were leaving.

I ran up to the group thinking that I might have a chance at explaining myself, but as I got closer I heard them yelling quietly at one another. Deciding its best now to get this over with, I stepped in front of them in hopes of them listening to me. However, Nathan was the first to notice me... He came closer to me, stepping right up in my face. “I told you NOT to come near them again. I must have not made myself clear!”

“Nathan, what’s going on?” Zach said from behind him, looking at me with sad eyes.

“I told Thomas here not to bother you or Jacob. But he didn’t listen, so I guess I have to teach him...”

“Oh, no. You’re not going to be fighting... I want to hear him out.”

“Oh, you do, do you? Fine, let’s hear him out!” Nathan said throwing his hands up in exasperation.

“Never mind him, just talk,” Zach said in a sincere way

“Well... I didn’t mean for this to happen.” I have to think, what’s the best way to go about telling them that it was Jacob who first came up to me and then Nathan who asked me to do him a favor? Do you think that’s the best to go about this? “Jacob was the first one to come to me and ask to have sex with me... normally I would say no, HELL NO!”

Jacob cut in and said, “Oh hell no you ain't... You are not blaming me for this mister, you’re the one who came up to me and asked me to come with you and well I might have had a part in what we did, but you can’t stand there and tell me that it was ‘I’ who came after you... You're scum. You're nothing. Asshole!” Jacob screamed that last part, making Tom flinch back in surprise.

“However,” Tom continued even more softly than before, “I don’t know how or why it happened, but it did. Nothing was planned and now I see that it was the stupidest thing I have ever done. After that..." Should I really tell Zach what Nathan had done? I know if I do Zach would never forgive Nathan for it. Nevertheless, who cares, it’s his fault not mine! “After that, Nathan came up to me and asked me to do him a favor... he told me how upset you were and that he wanted you to get revenge on Jacob for what he did...”

Now it was Nathan’s turn to tell off Tom, “Oh, hell no! No you don’t; you can’t blame me either. Yea, I might have had a part in getting Zach to your room, but who was the one who asked me to get him for that person? Huh, Thomas, really? Can you even take any of this shit that happened and blame yourself, or are you too chicken shit to do it, huh answer me!” Tom definitely flinched that time, and everyone saw it.

Tom continued yet again on his lie of all lies, “So I agreed to do it. Nathan might have been in the wrong for going about it, but he just wanted you to be happy and celebrate your birthday.”

“So what you're saying is that Jacob started this and Nathan somehow finished it? But, don’t you think that you had a part in this... I mean you could have said 'no' BOTH times! However, you didn’t, so you can’t blame this all on them and not take ANY blame for yourself!” Zach said with scorn. His face said it all, that he was beyond pissed, but somehow he was keeping himself in check.

“I never said I wouldn’t take blame for this... I wanted you and Jacob to know that it was my fault this whole fucking thing got to be where it is now.... So don’t start saying that I don’t take the blame for this.... I’m sorry it ever happened, but you can’t change the past.”

“True, you can’t change the past, but I still hate you for what you did and I’m more pissed at Jacob for coming to you in the first place, even if he didn’t.” Zach whipped around facing Nathan. “And I’m fucking furious with you! So don’t you even think that you’re getting out of this so fucking easy!”
Zach screamed the last part at Nathan, making him flinch away from him. Zach had a conversation with them last night. I remember hearing Lacey say that when she thought I was asleep.

After that, Zach stomped angrily away from his group, leaving them there in a confused state. I took off after Zach thinking that I might be able to help even more if everyone sat down and talked this through. Catching up to Zach seemed impossible. For one, when I ran out of the hotel, Zach was nowhere to be seen. Starting out slow, I came to the back of the hotel, which housed the maintenance supplies, that is where I found Zach. Curled arms around his legs, legs drawn up his chest and there he sat head in his lap crying softly. Hesitantly I reached out a shaky hand and touched Zach’s trembling shoulder, with a jerk of his body he looked up at me, startled. Zach looked pissed, but more importantly, he looked a mess. I couldn’t leave him here.

“What the fuck do you want?” he said with distaste. I couldn’t blame him, after everything I’ve done.

“We need to talk... All of us.” Zach looked at me like I was nuts, I still couldn’t blame him.

“How will that fix anything, hm? How will I ever look at Nathan or Jacob again without wanting to kill them for what they did? And I don’t even want to think about what I want to do with you right now...” Damn, he’s very much pissed and enraged.

“I can’t take back what I have done, but at least consider my request for a conference, at least think about how this will possibly help you and Jacob. Don’t forget you and Nathan, so please Zach?” Here’s to hoping.

“Fine... I’ll go, but just so you know, I’m not forgiving anyone at this time for what they did.

By the end of the meeting everything somewhat got taken care of. I marched back up to the room to tell Lacey exactly what I have done. However, I didn’t expect to see her standing by the door with a guarded look, one that might say ‘If you didn’t fix anything, you’re dead!’

“Where have you been?” Demanded Lacey, as soon as I was in speaking range of her.

“I was talking to Zach... the other’s, I told him everything.”

A look of relief came over Lacey, but she wasn’t done talking yet, “Well I guess you did the right thing and confronted them all... I’m proud of you for doing that... Just so you know.”

“Th-thanks, Lacey.” I blushed, not of embarrassment, but of gratitude.

So Jacob cheated on Zach with Tom, I’m assuming Zach found out though possibly not that it was Tom that Jacob slept with, and then Nathan asked Tom to have sex with Zach to make him feel better plus get revenge on Jacob. A crazy triangle. Based on the title of Vacation with Regrets I was expecting someone to cheat but after the attraction Zach felt I expected him to cheat not Jacob. I can’t believe Jacob got so jealous from Zach looking at a guy and then was the one to cheat plus he’s claiming Tom came onto him. So he’s a cheater and liar. Neither one of them is innocent in this as neither stopped to consider Zach’s feelings. I’m also wondering how far they went as Jacob & Zach haven’t gone all the way I believe so Jacob lost his virginity to Tom that makes it worse to me for some reason.
