Chapter 20- Pain and Promise

Bloodless bleeding steals more life

Than brilliant crimson flow

Betrayal’s a wicked knife

There’s no fighting such a foe

You can’t staunch what can’t be seen

No tourniquet for your pain

You ponder where you should lean

It’s like being trapped in rain

No place for you to abide

The time it’ll take to heal

Your heart, soul, and life have died

No part of you left to steal

Faint heart still pounds and eyes burn

You mourn for the love you've lost

Desperation takes its turn

You’ve already paid the cost

Know what plays upon your mind

No blame for you to shoulder

You are sweet and true and kind

Hurts more as we get older

I love you, my cherished friend

And I need you to see clearly

Please have faith that you will mend

But his lies cost him dearly

I will be your crisis room

A place to ease your sorrow

Turn on lights where shadows loom

Prescribe for you, tomorrow

I’ll be there when you climb out

And shed your damaged skin

As for now, I see your doubt

But we’ll make of loss, a win

You are not alone in this

You’ve always been there for me

Once again, life’s hit and miss

Things will get better... you’ll see

This is dedicated to a wonderful person and friend. I promise I will always be there for you... as long as it takes...

Oh Gary, this is so sad. I fairly sure I know where this is coming from and well, I hope you will send it to him once he's ready to read it.

It gave me the shivers this poem, it's honest, and sad, and horrible but there's a lil hope and lots of love too.

Hope he's doin ok.

tim

The situation is sad. Lots of remorse now, but more incidents have come to light. He's out of province, but I sent it to his email, and he got it. We had a couple of talks today. He's not doing well. I tried to be upbeat while recognizing his pain. He liked it. Thanks for reviewing, tim... cheers... Gary...

Despite the pain and sadness that defines this poem, there is still love and hope :) Gary, I'm sending a  to your friend, I hope he turns that loss into a win.

Like Tim, I hope you give your friend this poem one day, thanks for the poem Gary

Thanks, Drew. I appreciate the review and the support, and yeah, he's read it. He knows how much I care. We've been friends a long time, and he's been there for me... Cheers... Gary...

Just being there when you are needed is a salve to the soul.

Beautiful words telling a painful tale but with hope on the horizon.

Take care Gary

Thanks, Reader... it's been a tough couple of days. He's with family out of province right now... back tomorrow... we talked twice today... I appreciate the support... cheers... Gary...

Your friend is a lucky man to have you in his corner. Sometimes just knowing someone is out there who loves you and you can talk to can be enough to pull you through the really bad times. I wish your friend well and hope that his friends can help him through the rough times ahead.

He has a tough road ahead. He's a sensitive guy, and he's hurting. Thanks, Lit... for the review, and your support... cheers... Gary...

Although your friend's relationship is tainted by betrayal, it will hopefully give him some comfort to know that your friendship is still honest and true.

It isn't the first time we've relied on each other... thanks for the understanding. I don't understand why this happened. Appreciate the support... cheers... Gary...

There is one line I kept coming back to: Turn on lights where shadows loom.
You comprised the essence of friendship there, in my opinion. That is what real friends do for each other.
I hope you can keep spreading rays of sunshine when your friend needs them and wish him all the best with his recovery. I have no doubt your poem contributes to that.

Thank you, Peter. Such a wonderful review. He said he liked the poem, but he's in a zombie kind of phase right now. He has decided to spend the weekend with family that live near me, which is great. He would be doing the same for me... well except for the poem part. Thanks for pointing out that line. You made it special to me... cheers, my friend... Gary...
