Chapter 27

Folly

Watching fixation from a distance

Such ugliness in all truth I see

Sad self-denial begins the fall

Refusal to subdue it is key

I know it’s none of my business

This boundless obsession breaking free

Don’t acknowledge your guilty folly

For that indulgence you’ll pay your fee

You’ll have your cake and eat it as well

Not wanting your crush to leave you be

So coldly you turn from one who loves

Pretending there is no need to flee

Your callous greed will not be hidden

Proud mantle that fits you to a tee

Turn myself away from all this angst

No gain to be had in being me

Bitterness

Some hurts scar and you can’t let go

No matter how hard you might try

Fragile trust, the lover you know

Without it, love’s destined to die

It didn’t mean a thing, you say

And maybe it didn’t to you

Took that special feeling away

And dire consequences you knew

You picked your way, now I’ll choose mine

Your words have no meaning to me

I’m sure in time I will be fine

I’ve already dismissed your plea

Sure we could try it one more time

But I no longer feel the same

Proved to me you turn on a dime

I’d rather not replay that game

One mistake and you won’t repeat

I’m sure you believe that right now

When I laid my heart at your feet

It came with an iron clad vow

Bad dreams. One thing follows another.

Some people who lie to themselves and refuse to see their own faults or just don't care about anyone's feelings or needs but their own. You captured that well here. You are very good at wielding powerful words. :)

Poetry is so good for my soul. I was so agitated when I woke up, and I calmed right down after getting these out... although I could use some sleep lol. Thank you, Lit, for telling me your take on these poems... I think there are some who, when they want something, know what the consequences may be, but ignore them, figuring it's their right to have what they want. It's only when their life falls apart that they're forced to face the cost of their selfish desires... just my take on things... we all see things differently... been around a long time...bitterness resides lol... cheers... Gary

Wow Gary.. these are powerful. Well written and powerful. People make mistakes and sometimes its worth fighting to keep things together, sometimes its not. And well only the people involved and make that choice.

Thanks, tim. I really appreciate the review and the support. Your kind words mean a lot. I think I am evolving, in that I am learning what not to waste my time on. You can't change people, and even when they ask, be careful about getting involved or giving second chances you know won't work. I hate that I feel bitterness, but I do... Cheers, buddy... Gary...

Powerful words my friend

I hope these helped purge some of the past

Thanks, Bucket. I'm glad you found power here. These did help purge more past, and even present stresses... I try to be there for my friends, and that won't change, but it's difficult sometimes... thanks for the review, and the support, my friend... cheers... Gary...
