Chapter 4 Haiku- Slowly Moving On

Another quiet night

No breathing at my bedside

No choice but to deal

Green dog bed haunts me

Don’t know what to do with it

Can’t toss it away

Roses it will be

Planted in your memory

Rugosas I think

Digging in the dirt

Wet spots drop on disturbed earth

My tribute achieved

Is time a cruel foe

Or can it serve as ally

Today it was both

Mallory was blessed to have you and your kids as her humans. Your words show how much she was loved.
Now I'm crying again for the ones I no longer see or hear. But as always, the happy memories conquer the sad - for you to they will one day...

Thanks for saying that, Reader. She truly was, and still is. I think it's gonna be a while before we're sorted out. I appreciate the review... these haiku seem to relly help me deal... Gary

So much sadness but so much love in these ones Gary. Sometimes knowing you're letting go can be hard too. Reader was right, Mallory was a very lucky girl to have you and your family.

I'm not usually in to poetry, but yours touches a chord with me - and probably anyone who has ever had a pet. These were touching and very well done.

I'm glad the haikus help ease your sadness, and equally, I hope you're finding comfort in her memories.

I can't say closure is ever complete...I can still cry when I think of my lost ones...but most of them are happy tears now.
I'm sorry, I just can't review chapter 3...I can't type and cry at the same time.

Thanks, Def. I drove my son to work today, and we talked about her without tears... first time for us... maybe we'll stop avoiding the memories now.... Gary

I'm sorry, Adi. Loss is really hard to get past. I hope you are doing better, and it's nice to think I spoke to your heart... take care... Gary

Yeah, I still miss my dog from 40 years ago. No happy tears yet, for Mallory, but we'll get to that point... she was worth all this, for sure... Thanks CG... Gary

Gotta wonder why we put ourselves through this.. but then I look in Ripley's eyes.. the love shines out them and his joy of just being what he is.
