To Sherlock,

Does that imply you are a detective? Figuring you chose to be called Sherlock? I recently completed binge-watching season four of the TV show on Netflix, I assume it was on Monday. It is probably the reason I got in trouble, or it was the last straw anyhow. I dozed off and got into shit in class the following morning for not finishing my English essay. Therefore, thank you very much, Sherlock… Do you possess a Watson, can I be the guy who tags along because you sound intelligent, so perhaps Sherlock is a fitting nickname? Watson is the dumb dude who pretends to be smart rather than doing anything helpful. Right?

My Basketball practice was okay, I guess. I was zonked by the time I finished up, and when I got home, a shower never felt so good. My position on the team is a shooting guard. I'm not sure if I am supposed to share this sort of information because I'm not sure if it gives away my identity although anyway it's out there now. In a couple of weeks, we have a game coming up, and I don't believe I am ready for it. I have been crappy the last couple of sessions, plus my shots have been off, I don't know why though.

About being truthful, I guess I would use the word honest. I know that if someone were leading me on, I would not like it. Therefore, I prefer not to go down that path. I'm kind of a, "what you see is what you get guy." I take everything in stride, and I hope somewhere along the line I haven't offended someone.

LMFAO, …dogs waterlogged stick. I've never heard the expression before. I haven't smiled all day so if you want to know you made a miserable hour seem a little lighter. How do you know you wouldn't enjoy sports if you are not willing to try it? From the sounds of it, you haven't attempted. Plus, what do you mean you would rather be away in a corner where people don't notice you. I don't think what you said is positive about yourself; you need to be optimistic. I suppose be prepared to try. I remember the first time I tried out in band practice. I felt so out of place, I knew nobody, although most recognized me. I gained some sweet new friends due to it, so it's better than not attempting to work at it.

Oh, and message received, help returned. I give you the almighty power of Kratos from God Of War to help you shift the mountain of homework.

From,

Bond… James Bond.

A special thanks to my patrons: Thomas Tallis, Don Jr., Joen, John, Danny, Matt, Scott, Joshua,

I  am glad I finally got my head wrapped around what’s going on in this story.  They are letters. This time when I was reading, I picked up on the random thoughts because that is how letters go.  Other thoughts came to mind as well. There is s person I could call an internet friend. He and I have written to each other for 10 yeas and never met. This story reminded me of that friendship. Another thought was home work.  I have to say, I agree with what was said about homework and I was a teacher.  I worked with a math teacher who gave out 100 problems a night.  I asked her, could you find out if the student understand the process in 5 problems. She flatly said no, they need the practice, then the crowning comment came, “it keeps them busy and out of trouble”. I thought, bull shit, it likely causes more trouble for them then keeps them out of. Now that I know what I am reading. Nice entry.

@OzLoGo , I am sorry you have had trouble the first couple of chapters, although I am glad you are able to read it with ease now. I hope you will be able to enjoy the story now that it appears the random thoughts are all connected. Sometimes I have a messy brain when I jot down everything, I usually vomit it all out and then I need to make sense of so people can read it. I have also had a friendship via the internet, so I guess I am trying out the concept of a friend online, except I am completely making what I am writing up because I want a level of mystery to John White. I am no teacher, I have only been out of secondary school for 4 years, and I spent some of that studying and finding myself, so I haven't really had a career as so to speak. I have always had a thing about telling stories, I never pieced things together before trying writing about a year ago for the first time in my life, and I have blown up with the story. It is what I like to do and I enjoy it. I wouldn't mind doing the line of work long term as long as I can support myself for it. I always had the idea that kids cannot learn from a textbook. The only way someone can learn is by doing, I suppose I jumped in at the deep end when I began writing, I believe I am getting better, day by day.

The penpal idea is working for me. A lot of the boys' personalities come through in their letter writing, and that is thanks to you and your writing! As the boys learn more about each other we are also learning more about them. I'll use that sometimes overused analogy of peeling away layers of an onion. I hope by the end of the story, or maybe sooner, they get to meet each other. Thanks.

The idea behind the penpal idea is to do away with the character completely and focus solely on the personalities of the boys, people are usually quick to judgment, I wanted the characters in the story to be able to grow emotionally without being physically present, I believe the idea is simple but quite honest done in this manner. And you may never know, the boy might meet in person, I reckon we'll find out as time progresses.

A little bit of seems to be creeping in in the letter writing, that's good as that is a natural progression. The change of direction of topics is typical of young teenagers and makes more realistic. I don't know if that was intentional but adds to the character dimension.

I have a random mind, so whatever the characters are saying upstairs in my head, it's going to flow through my fingers without a second thought. Sometimes going on a gut feeling makes thing more natural and realistic, typically if I stray off the path it is not something I foresee, but I have planned and left room to be able to wonder.

I have enjoyed reading the first three chapters of the story and I can say that after reading the intro to the story that said it was based on letters that they wrote to each other being pen pals. I haven’t had any problems figuring out what their saying to each other in their letters especially when they are talking about homework and teachers that give them tons of homework at a time. To me being the grandson of an educator (teacher & principal) I can relate on both ends of the issue of homework. I was told that while in school to become a teacher they had tons of homework each day so I can just imagine how much it was for them. If they had four classes that day they would have at least two hours of homework for each class, I would say that was a lot even back then.  I have experience with the same issue as the characters in the story of the amount of homework I had during my high school years, I had five classes a day that I would have homework in and it basically meant at least five hours of homework each night although I think the teachers I had must’ve been talking to each other about the homework situation, so I would’ve had homework from all five classes.

Thanks for your comment, I am thrilled that you are enjoying the story. It's funny to think that people are reading something I wrote and finding it entertaining. I hope to continue to like the story as you go alone. In conjunction with homework, well I was a kid who got through mountains of work in a narrow window. Although I will never forget the night in 2nd year; I would have been about 13-14 at the time, but I got a chapter of questions in biology and it took me six hours to finish it... I remember arriving at school the next morning and apparently, a lot of parents complained that that much from one teacher was too much. In school in Ireland, we had 8-9 class a day. Except for Friday and Wednesdays... You had 8 lol.
