Cozy Contemplations - 32. Chapter 32 Writings

It's difficult to write much at one time, but I keep trying.

Writings

My writings spring from deep within

And whether light or shades of dark

They are my offerings to you

Sent without guile as they embark

From my pen to join the ether

Pointed forth in your direction

My hope is they will search you out

And settle on you with kind affection

For they are a best part of me

And their strength comes in the sharing

Though I be bold to ask attention

Truth, it’s freeing to be so daring

So, pray thee grant me a little time

And allow our hearts to chorus

Over old memories, hopes, and dreams

For without this, my life feels porous

Hmm, I'm torn for a new word to describe you....poet isn't suitable in my opinion because the genre is so often a hodge-podge of things you can't classify.  Blank verse to elegiacs...rhyming couplets to work-a-day song lyrics.
No, where is the hint of skill and craft in that four-letter label?  Lessee, 'wordsmith'?  infers much hard labor and tortuous toil for  a result...and that's often true, but dulls the sense of beauty and joy these works provide....
I think I prefer 'word-wright', as that implies a long-learned skill and artistry that appears lacking in the smith.  I like to think of poems as crafted things much like a painting with words, or a vessel to convey our emotions from one person to another.

Okay--let's give a cheer for our Gary, respected Northern Wordwright!

Wordwright? I am humbled, and you are a sweet man who I respect greatly. Thank you, dear friend... your support lifts me up, and you define poems perfectly, in my opinion.
