The Ultimate Vehicle of Earthly Bliss - 15. Your caress on my skin

.

Aus „Les chansons de Bilitis“

(Freie Nachdichtung nach dem

Französischen des Pierre Louis)

II.

Liebkosungen

Schließ deine Arme sanft um mich,

Schließ sie wie einen Gürtel.

Rühre, o rühre an meine Haut.

Nicht das Wasser, nicht der Mittagswind,

Nichts gibt es, das sanfter ist

Als deine Hand.

Heut Schwesterlein ist es an dir,

Heute sollst du mich lieben.

Knie neben mir ohne zu reden.

Gib mir die Liebe

Wie ich sie dich lehrte

Die letzte Nacht.

Deine Lippen verlassen die meinen

Dein wirres Haar schleift ihnen nach

So wie die Liebkosung

Dem Kuße folgt.

Es gleitet über meine Brust, verbirgt

Dein Auge mir. [i]

The Two from “Les chansons de Bilitis”

French by Pierre Louÿs)

II.

Love Caresses

Lock your arms gently around me,

To clasp them as if a belt.

Lay your caress, your touch, on my skin.

For not cool water, nor midday breeze,

Matches the softness I feel

From your hand’s trace.

Now, dear little sister, show me

Today you’re ready for love.

Kneel besides me without saying a word.

Return it to me

Just the way I showed you

All through the night.

Slowly, I feel your lips depart from mine,

Your tousled hair trails after them

As their caress lingers

Following the kiss.

Your locks glide over my breast, playing coy,

Then hide your glance.

This is as sensual, as sublime as live poetry can get. It’s perfectly marvelous! You are very good to share it with us.

Thank you, Parker. Somehow the line "Nicht das Wasser, nicht der Mittagswind" (For not cool water, nor midday breeze) always puts me in mind of one of the final W.H. Sonnets by Shakespeare. Namely, "Love's fire heats water/ water cools not love".

Thanks again for reading and commenting. Your thoughts are always appreciated!
