The Ultimate Vehicle of Earthly Bliss - 18. Conjured from a fairy tale

.

Sonett III.

Der Mond steht hinter kühlen Scheiben,

Dein Mund verstummt vor meinen Küssen.

Was willst du immer wieder wissen,

Ob unsre Seelen nun zusammenbleiben?

Ich lache still. Und meine Küsse saugen

Irdischer Seligkeiten letztes Wagen.

Sonnet III.

The moon stiffens behind cool panes of glass,

As your mouth stills against my felled kisses.

Why is it you always seek to know

If our souls shall be forever together?

I only know which passions drive me to you,

Wants that, when denied, tore my wild heart apart.

I only know that we must be united,

And I commit myself unto death for it.

You look up at me with your deep eyes,

As if conjured from a fairy tale:

Don’t forget the best, you say,

For earthly things are nothing compared

To the joy of our souls. I laugh, while my kisses

Tap the ultimate vehicle of earthly bliss.

This sonnet describes how even fervent kisses sometimes cannot still the restless mind, how lovers must circle one another in both body and spirit to unite. It’s quite beautiful. Thank you for sharing it.

Thank you, Parker. Yes, the theme of an in-and-out dance circulate within many of these wonderful verses of Toni Schwabe
