Words to Match the Music in my Head - 5. Chapter 5 She's a Wonder

Women are beautiful... it's a fact.

Words to Match the Music in my Head

Chapter 4

She’s a Wonder

Lightning bolts and fireballs

Stormy seas and Niagara Falls

He never knew what hit him

He never stood a chance

He never saw her coming

He never believed in romance

She doesn’t walk, she rides the air

Sits herself down with savoir faire

Eyes that sparkle and draw him in

A body the devil made just for sin

Wonders of the world, move aside

This girl has charms iron curtains couldn’t hide

Forest fires, an avalanche

Hail stones, an olive branch

He never knew what hit him

He never stood a chance

He never saw her coming

He never felt such romance

Lungs implode when she’s around

Hearts constrict and tear ducts drown

What she does to men with just a look

Could fill a chapter in a medical book

There’s only so much a man can take

Before he hands her his heart to break

Rocket launchers and moon flights

Solar flares and heavyweight fights

He never knew what hit him

He never stood a chance

He never saw her coming

Now he lives for romance

He’s no fool, he knows the score

He’s considered a friend, and not much more

She’s not ready to settle down

And when she does she’ll own this town

He’s just one more who dreams of her

Spending his life caught tight in her lure

Tidal waves and lava flows

Answers to questions no one knows

He never knew what hit him

He never stood a chance

He never saw her coming

Now he dreams each night of romance

Wasting his time he may well be

But for this chance at heaven, he’ll gladly pay the fee

From the first time he saw her, he’s had no choice

When you’re hitching a ride, always pick the Rolls Royce

It’s not her fault she looks like this

It’s not her fault he lives for her kiss

She doesn’t walk, she rides the air

Sits herself down with Savoir Faire

Eyes that sparkle and draw him in

A body the devil made just for sin

Wonders of the world move aside

This girl has charms iron curtains couldn’t hide

Disney world, the Pyramids

Make a wish and Jerry’s Kids

He never knew what hit him

He never stood a chance

He never saw her coming

He never lived for romance

It’s not her fault she looks like this

It’s not her fault he longs for her kiss

There’s only so much a man can take

Before he hands her his heart to break

So wonders of the world, step aside

This girl has charms iron curtains couldn’t hide

Northern Lights and solar power

The Grand Canyon and the Eiffel Tower

He never knew what hit him

He never stood a chance

He never saw her coming

He now prays for romance

Lungs implode when she’s around

Hearts constrict and tear ducts drown

What she does to men with just one look

Could fill a chapter in a medical book

Eyes that sparkle and draw men in

A body the devil made just for sin

Another wonder for the world to seek

Just one warning, she’s not for the weak

The music that accompanies these lyrics is fun, but also haunting.

We need a way to hear the melody you do along with these words!

Hey Kitt, thanks for leaving a review :) . Yeah, it would be nice, but I have no musical talent whatsoever... I have great rhythm in my head ...and my body... but no way to translate it. :( . Cheers...

Headstall, your talent with words more than makes up for a lack of musical talent. Bravo!

You are a master of words. I agree with the others - you should sit down with someone who can write music to put a melody to your work.

Thanks Eagle, for the review. I'm answering this one right away :) . Getting a musician interested in my lyrics would be amazing. Who knows? At some point it may happen. I just love writing the words. Thanks for the kind praise... cheers...Gary

Another great song, Gary, but this one has unsettled me more than the others--I don't know if it's innate suspicion, but I feel sorry for the narrator--he's going to be broken-hearted, and we can't prevent it.

Women like the one described are often cruel and calculating in the use of their power over men, giving no concern for the other person's feelings. It is precisely those types of people--male or female--who should never be granted the privilege of parenthood. They will only breed more arrogant and thoughtless creatures.

Much as I want to shake the narrator and scream at him for being a fool, you can't help someone who doesn't seek your help. And so, I will pity him in his foolishness, maybe even feel some sympathy when he is thrown aside, but I won't shed a tear...well, maybe a couple, but I won't obsess.

I agree on finding a musician, but barring that, how about doing what the old broadside publishers did--suggest a tune to which thenew words may be sung?

Hey, CG. Thanks for the review. I'm glad that this song made you feel so strongly. I wrote it though, as light-hearted. I didn't see her as a bad person... just incredibly beautiful...the kind men will through themselves over puddles for, so she doesn't get her feet wet. She really can't help how she looks, and she shouldn't have to apologise for it. And yeah, the narrator's an idiot, but he can't help himself... he is totally captivated. I love that you see it in the vein you do... that's what a song should do I think... be open for interpretation. Thanks for such a thoughtful review, Buddy...cheers...Gary

Yay! Finally a song I'm not crying to! :D

The narrator may be setting himself up for heartbreak. He sounds like he's head over heels already, and the girl isn't committing to anyone, in fact, she's leaving men in her wake to pine over her.

Yeah, this one was meant to be fun... She's a heartbreaker...fall for her at your own peril... I really had fun writing this one... thanks for reviewing, Lisa...Cheers... Gary
